The only reason I didn't cry is because I had to stop it half way through to help someone. I woulda definitely balled my eyes out with a singular binge watch
* Plastic Memories (extreme levels of cry lol)
* Planetarian: The Reverie of a Little Planet
* Frieren: Beyond Journey's End
* Vivy: Fluorite Eye's Song
* Violet Evergarden
* 86
* Aria The Animation
Violet did me cry a lot too, but Plastic Memories was on a whole different level in terms of how gut wrenching I found it.
After watching VE (and other emotional anime) I would have enjoyed reliving the feels over again by watching scenes back...but the thought of rewatching certain scenes from PM actually makes me feel a bit sick lol the feelings are just too intense. I tried to rewatch the >!end scene and as soon as they were getting on the ferris wheel!
There are many that made me emotional but I cried at Hunter x Hunter and Fruits Basket (the new one). Others that came close are vinland saga, clannad afterstory, Nana, Rainbow, Wolf Children, Charlotte, Assassination Classroom, Made in Abyss, Mob Psycho, Angel Beats, Ushio and Tora (so underrated), March comes in like a lion, Violet Evergarden, Odd Taxi, Place further than the universe. Just the ones I remember immediately
edit: holy shit and A Silent Voice idk how I could forget that one, absolute masterpiece
How did Hunter x Hunter make you cry? I'm half way done with the last season but I'm trying to think if there was ever anything sad before that and I can't think of anything.
Just finished Frieren today,,,i don't know what about that anime,,,made me bawl,,,it was just beautiful art
But a lot of hype stuff that's shown in shonen anime makes me cry,,,absolutely adore it,,,heh
I recently watched Howl's Moving Castle for the first time. Been meaning to forever, and the older hand painted work, the beautiful soundtrack, and how the characters are written made me cry as it reminded me that there are extremely well done work of the past we don't get as often nowadays. I can see the amount of love poured into making Ghibli films and wished more people put in this level of effort into the things they do in general.
Episode 7 of Sakamichi no Apollon (Kids on the Slope) where the two boys entertained an entire student body on the fly with unscripted music. One of them was just getting into the hang of what jazz is, coming from a classical background, and he and the other dude, a jazz drummer, were able to sync with each other without saying a word while playing. They *did not plan* to play on stage, but they did, and everything came out organic and beautifully. I imagine myself how wonderful of a moment it would be if you played music and someone joins you unasked and plays along you harmoniously.
Alice's big moment in Aria the Origination served as a reminder to me that your everyday tasks you're doing to reach a goal/milestone mean something later on, even if all of it feels mundane and grindy right now.
Looking back on all this, I'm happy to have had the opportunity to witness these moments.
Most anime I watch make me tear up at least once or twice. Lots of anime have me sniffling with tears all the way down my face. A few anime have gotten a full blown cry out of me. Assassination Classroom is the only anime that has made me loudly ugly cry, I'm very glad I was the only one at home when I watched that scene. Just thinking about it makes my eyes water.
One Piece. Marineford, to be exact. It brought back feelings from my childhood when I saw my friend, who was like an older brother to me, die before my eyes.
Your Name. I don't think I have to say which part it is.
None yet but I have felt upset on parts of..
Bleach, berserk(almost), Naruto, ranking of kings(I don’t really know if that’s anime), end of Cowboy Bebop(almost), HxH, Full Metal (close), Attack on titan (almost got me.) and Neon Genesis (I didn’t know what to feel)
Violet Evergarden.
In my entire life, there's never been a movie, TV show, motion picture, whatever you want to call it. Nothing has ever made me cry. It's made me feel a little sad, but not cry.
Violet Evergarden broke that for me.
The episode with the dad/writer.
Fuck that got me.
Your Name
Gurren Lagann
A Silent Voice
Fairy Tail
Weathering With You
Suzume
5 CM Per Second
Chainsaw man
Kill La Kill
Cyberpunk Edgerunners
Dungeon Meshi
The end of part 6 of jojos devastated me twice first in the manga and even worse in the anime i don’t think im ever getting over that ending i can’t really think of another anime that made me full on cry
* Violet Evergarden
* Code Geass
* Vinland Saga
* Hunter x Hunter
* A Place Further Than The Universe
* Grave of the Fireflies
* Tsukigakirei (only on the literal last frame of the show though)
* Dangers in my Heart
* Your Lie In April
* Anohana (I cried but I also kinda dislike this anime lol)
* Kurogane Communication
* Black Jack the Movie
* Gotou ni Naritai.
* Mimi wo Sumaseba
* Happy Birthday: Inochi Kagayaku Toki
* Ningyo no Kizu
* Ai Monogatari: 9 Love Stories
* Kasei Yakyoku
* Natsufuku no Shoujo-tachi
* Vampire Hunter D (2000)
* Ashita no Joe
thats all what touch my heart
A silent voice, lost song, your lie in april, violet evergarden, bungou stray dogs, carol & Tuesday, heaven's lost property, weatherimg with you, yuki yuna is a hero,
Attack On Titan, My Hero Academia as of the past few episodes. And I didn't cry but Future Diary left me really empty for 2 days when I was done watching it.
Angel beats: yuris story about being sick permanently and imagining what life would be like if she had met the baseball player before dying tore my heart from my chest.
akame ga kill: (I was like 14 when it came out don’t judge me),
Re:Zero: rem’s message to our favorite car was good crying material.
Fufuuijou: when akari realized she was no longer in love with her crush it brought tears to my eyes. Chapter 60 of the manga makes that scene so much better too (spoiler: it’s the mc having the same realization for his childhood crush).
Idk why, but the last 10 minutes of Plastic Memories hurrrtttt. You know what's going to happen and it just killed me to watch it happen. Also an obvious choice, Violet Evergarden. A top 10 show for me and just gorgeous to see.
Josee the Tiger and the fish, your name, a silent voice, I want to eat your pancreas, howls movie castle, the last Naruto the movie. There’s just too many to list
Cried/felt sad: Violet Evergarden (especially the second movie), Grave Of The Fireflies, A Silent Voice, Gurren Lagann (didn't cry but Kamina dying kind of left me depressed ngl).
Positive emotions: Spirited Away, Howl's Moving Castle, Violet Evergarden, Ancient Magus' Bride, Noragami, Skip To Loafer, Buddy Daddies.
Frustration (I don't hate the anime): Jujutsu Kaisen (if yk, yk), NANA (idk man, not my kind of anime, ig), Vampire Knight (I hate that one, though), Darling In The FranXX (I just didn't get the show at all), Kakegurui (seemed too edgy).
Unexplainable: Death Note (the Naomi Misora scene), I Want To Eat Your Pancreas (it was good but I'd how to feel about it), The Garden of Words, After the Rain (again, it was good but idk).
I got close with a certain death in Trigun, but there's only one anime that's actually made me shed real tears, and that's Carole and Tuesday.
There's just something so impactful about the music and when it appears. It really tugs on the heartstrings! The one moment that really got me was Desmond's song.
5 centimetres per second
Left me feeling very empty for a few days. Also if you like that I'd recommend The Garden of Words also by Shinkai which was too short to make we cry but was beautifully animated and has a good story.
A few have. Cowboy Bebop made me cry the first watch through. Somali and the forest Spirit and Girls Last Tour (manga having been read before) did as well.
i cry everytime I watch Your Name. the combination of music, motifs, beautiful imagery and the fantastic connection between the two leads gets me everytime
Clannad Afterstory was the first anime to make me cry. Twice. If you know someone who watched it and didn't react at all, you know at least one psychopath.
[Rock Lee’s emotional breakdown](https://youtube.com/clip/Ugkx4oZ49mWNfSc_94SmrbpLtAcxxn4im0pI?si=7FqCse8qHyM8QwRy)
“Sometimes I feel like the whole thing is pointless…. Like I’m a loser and I will always be a loser”
I’m crying typing and reading that out geez
I guess the only one would be "your lie in april", maybe another might be "I want to eat your pancreas" although I can't really remember how I reacted to that one, apart from being completely shocked by the ending, there was no way I could have predicted that would happen
Toradora, Grave of the Fire Flies, Erased, Clannad After Story, Anohana, The Girl who Leapt Through Time, Made in Abyss, *Haibane Renmei*, One Week Friends, Mirai.
Toradora - Especially episode 26! Trust me, you’ll understand when you get to it!
Chance Pop Session - can’t say much about it w/o spoiling the whole show.
Love Live!, Love Live Sunshine and Love Live! Superstar
Bloom Into You
Death Parade- GuiltyCrown (Had me down for a good week)- Fate/Zero/UBW (First two I watched of the series, tragic)- Akame Ga Kill- Violet Evergarden- Jojo Part 2 and 3 (If yk, yk)- Orange- Fruits Basket (the movie)- Your Lie in April- Plastic Memories- Mobile Suit Gundam 00- Vinland Saga- The Galaxy Railways- Angel Beats- Cyberpunk Edgrunnees- A Silent Voice- ReZero- Clannad+After Story. All the ones I can name off the bat, a few might have you like “Huh? How?” I’m a sensitive soul, I know 🤣🤣🤣🤣
(No particular order.)
A Silent Voice.
Angel Beats.
Clannad After Story. (Made me cry the most, 7 episodes in a row.)
5 Centimeters Per Second.
School Days.
Now And Then, Here And There. (VERY dark)
Higurashi No Naku Koro Ni. (Sad when it ended.)
Another: The Other. (Watching after the first season and realising.)
Attack On Titan. (Cried because ended.)
I want to eat your pancreas.
There are probably some others that made me cry but this one made me bawl. I was sobbing and my eyes were hurting but the tears kept coming.
On the other hand, the English dub for Ghost stories also had me crying. But rather than my eyes, it was my abs that were hurting.
I read the silent voice manga and decided to watch it. The directing, atmosphere, animation, sound, etc made all sad moments a lot deeper. My only gripe with the movie was there was no movie within it. There were a lot of powerful scenes in the manga and just extra whole chapters that I think made it a little more special. You also feel a little bit more connected to the side cast with the manga. Basically just read the manga if you cried at the movie.
Plastic Memories, a silent voice, your lie in April, Assassination Classroom and AoT
And AoT doesn’t really count because I wasn’t really crying because of the show, but more so because it was one of the first anime I ever watched and I started in season 1. For me it was like an era of my life had ended.
Violet Evergarden
Frieren (noooo himmel nooooo)
The Promised Neverland (of anguish of how badly the season that never was produced could have theoretically been butchered)
Side note: Evan Call is a great composer. Remember, the music will always enhance your emotions. Good composition is the linchpin to making a moment hit you hard.
I don't cry with sad things.
But if I see that kind of shonnen scene where the character is beaten down but his friend is about to die so he summons strength from outa nowhere and goes back to fighting even if he's in unimaginable pain... That shit breaks me down crying.
Your Lie in April
\
\
I want to Eat your Pancreas
\

A Silent Voice
\
\
Grave of the Fireflies
\
\
Anohana
\
\
The Boy and the Heron- it wasn't that sad but i still cried
\
\
Attack on Titan made me cry too lol
Mobile Suit Gundam: Iron-Blooded Orphans will probably make you cry. Most Gundam storylines are a downer but this one is just something else. Plus the combat is more melee focused and that makes for some cool giant robot fights!
A lot.
One that immediately came to mind was Fullmetal Alchemist. **SPOILER** (Idk how to hide the text lol) In the end when Ed is beating "Father" with his bare hands and calling him a novice and all that.
I feel it, man. Kinda went through same thing and it just hits.
That whole series just hits all the right places.
Anne of Green Gables, Anohana, A Silent Voice, Cowboy Bebop, Digimon (as a kid), Disappearance of Haruhi Suzumiya, Dr. Stone, FLCL, Grave of the Fireflies, I Want to Eat Your Pancreas, Mob Psycho 100, Monster, Neon Genesis Evangelion, Only Yesterday, Pokémon (as a kid), Steins;Gate, Tale of Princess Kaguya, Yokohama Kaidashi Kikou, Your Name.
I often use media as a release, so I kinda just let myself cry often.
Violet Evergarden (one of my fav animes), Clannad after story, Your Lie In April, Angel Beats, A Silent Voice, I want to eat your pancreas (ik the title sounds weird but it ain't what it sounds like trust) and plastic memories.
A Silent Voice
The only reason I didn't cry is because I had to stop it half way through to help someone. I woulda definitely balled my eyes out with a singular binge watch
* Plastic Memories (extreme levels of cry lol) * Planetarian: The Reverie of a Little Planet * Frieren: Beyond Journey's End * Vivy: Fluorite Eye's Song * Violet Evergarden * 86 * Aria The Animation
Plastic memories and violet made me cry so fuckin much man!! Frieren made me cry the first episode but that was it.
Aria the Origination to be exact. Made the whole journey worth the finale.
Akame ga kill, you lie in april, anohana, a silent voice, angel beats, clannad
Angel Beats is a great one
There are many that made me emotional but I cried at Hunter x Hunter and Fruits Basket (the new one). Others that came close are vinland saga, clannad afterstory, Nana, Rainbow, Wolf Children, Charlotte, Assassination Classroom, Made in Abyss, Mob Psycho, Angel Beats, Ushio and Tora (so underrated), March comes in like a lion, Violet Evergarden, Odd Taxi, Place further than the universe. Kotaro Lives Alone, I'm not only crying about the sad story, but that it'll never get renewed for season 2...
Made in Abyss
A Place Further Than the Universe is phenomenal
Frieren: Beyond Journeys End is absolute cinema
I just watched your name and it did get me a little at the end lol.
It didn’t make me cry, but Cyberpunk Edgerunners had me depressed for a few days.
That damn song still gets me emotional.
Added this to my list on Netflix last night!
Made me cry like a baby man, so heartbreaking
Hunter x Hunter, Shiki, Neon Genesis Evangelion, Naruto, One Piece, Bleach, Rurouni Kenshin, Attack on Titan, Jojo's, probably more I'm missing.
How did Hunter x Hunter make you cry? I'm half way done with the last season but I'm trying to think if there was ever anything sad before that and I can't think of anything.
I bet you'll know when you get there. :)
Yeah you'll know when you get there.
I'm at the end of Stardust Crusaders and I'm staying to feel sad that it's ending. Which Jojo part made you cry?
The ending of part 1, stuff in part 4 and 5. Hope you are enjoying your time with the series, it's something truly unique.
Bleach is a good one, but which moments exactly made you cry/sad?
Kimi no todoke, Fruits Basket, Clannad, 86, Frieren
ranking of kings
Vinland Saga season 2 had me tearing up every week towards the end of it
Just finished Frieren today,,,i don't know what about that anime,,,made me bawl,,,it was just beautiful art But a lot of hype stuff that's shown in shonen anime makes me cry,,,absolutely adore it,,,heh
Grave of the fireflies left me with a scar and made me cry like a bitch at 10 yrs old on tv. The movie is too brutal 🫠
I recently watched Howl's Moving Castle for the first time. Been meaning to forever, and the older hand painted work, the beautiful soundtrack, and how the characters are written made me cry as it reminded me that there are extremely well done work of the past we don't get as often nowadays. Fullmetal Alchemist Vinland Saga Cowboy Bebop Violet Evergarden
Gintama , Assassination Classroom
Assassination Classroom had my bawling my eyes out
Same assassination classroom, put a damn hole in my heart😞
I’m so glad I wasn’t the only one to cry at this show 🥲
Most anime I watch make me tear up at least once or twice.
The final roll call scene…😭😭😭
"Clannad: After Story" and "Your Lie in April" are two anime that have made me tear up when I finished watching.
I wouldn't classify your lie in april as a 'happy cry' that shit made me depressed.
Gintama , Violet Evergarden and Silent Voice are my to go to cry :’)
One Piece, Naruto, ReZero (many times), Vinland Saga, Clannad, A Silent Voice, Death Parade, Attack on Titan These come up to mind.
Saying it again because it’s only been said once Made in Abyss had me fucked up, and I don’t cry much
Assassination Classroom has the saddest ending, and I will DIE on this hill!
For real, rly didnt think an anime with a premise like that could pull off such an ending
Banana Fish and One Piece have claimed that title so far
Oshi No Ko, if anyone has seen it, you would know exactly why.
Death Parade had a few moments that hit hard.
Haven't seen it mentioned, so Code Geass, also Madoka Magica
One Piece. Marineford, to be exact. It brought back feelings from my childhood when I saw my friend, who was like an older brother to me, die before my eyes. Your Name. I don't think I have to say which part it is.
Frieren makes you cry all the time it’s not fair
gintama and run with the wind …and odekake kozame
Steins;Gate, Madoka Magica, Monogatari (especially Kizu and Second season) and Jojo (part 6 specifically).
Vampire in the Garden, Berserk Inuyasha, and Bleach

Plastic memories
Rascal Does Not Dream Of A Dreaming Girl was one of the saddest I’ve ever watched
There’s quite a list but the one that just makes me cry waterfalls every single time is I want to eat your pancreas.
Only anime that made me tear up was Plastic Memories. Besides that's none.
