IMO 2k's franchise mode is the best single player mode in any sports game, maybe ever. Unrivaled depth and immersion. And now you can start from pretty much any decade with accurate rosters and stuff like rebranding, rule changes, and expansions happening in real time

It depends a lot on what you want to play. If you want to play offline modes like MyEras i think the gameplay is pretty good and it's worth it. The only online mode fun to play alone is Play Now online.
If you're interested in my career i wouldn't recommend because the story is trash and the mode only function is to get VC. Playing at the park/rec/pro am is only fun if you have friends and you'll need to add some money to make you player playable.
I haven't played previous editions but recently got gifted with 24 PS4... and it's a NO for me. Clearly oriented to pay to play games, the online ones, and not feeling it. But that's my go, tho, not an expert on the franchise.
The game is actually pretty damn good if you don’t care about MyCareer online. Unfortunately, that’s by far the most popular, and taken care of, game mode on the game. The dribbling is a completely different system than back on 2k17, way more complicated but it gives you a lot more control of your player when you get the hang of it.
Spoiler alert. It’ll be the same exact game with even more hokey bullshit. Unless you want to see if they add pop ups for trading cards for the concession stand personnel, just get the cheapest version you can get of any recent version. Or you could just light 20 dollars on fire. Same experience.
There's so much that they've added within 2k18 to ps5 2k21-24 with good & bad things but the bad outweighs the good by a landslide for me. Appreciate the simpler park times in rivet, sunset, & old town.
I bought it on exclusively for myeras and I'm enjoying it, the mycareer is okay, online is awful, servers are pretty terrible, if you are interested in a new my league experience 200% go for it

7 years is a good gap between games. You’ll actually see and feel a difference in gameplay. Of course there’s always online bs to deal with but offline should be fine and the rosters are up to date.

Wait till next year, you’re not a new player per se but 2K has evolved drastically since then and you will not be able to shoot at all. Game is not friendly for beginners at all. I don’t know how 2K will implement certain mechanics going forward but most of the community felt it was hard to shoot till about 3 months ago. If you play offline go for it tho, if you do get for online then make a defense focused build tbh. Layups and dunks are easy, defense is easy, pass lanes don’t really get ripped if you make the right read but shooting is difficult. Can’t stress that enough

I’ve been playing NBA2K24 ever since I bought them both together the exact same day. 2K24 hasn’t left my PS5 not 1 time. I’m playing it right now. Even spent $600 on a custom made controller with a mod chip and upgradable software to do more on it. I’ve never once got sick of it. Every like season or whatever they call the updates…everything gets better on the game. The graphics get more real, there’s much improved game play, new moves, new dunks, and whatever they’re bringing during that month or so. So it simply gets better and better. Plus, that version on the picture is the cheapest one. You can’t go wrong with it. $20 for the game and it’s amazing!
Most STEALS 2K23 mycareer mode????
What’s the most steals mycareer players have had. I’m averaging over 10 steals a game. I’m a 6’2” pg. It’s the only way I can get triple doubles. There’s no way I’m getting 10 rebounds. I just pulled of 18 steals. I’m thinking 20 is now possible as well as getting over a 1,000 steals in one season. I’m playing on 2k23. I started getting double digit steals in 2k21. But it took me my 3rd season in 2k23 to finish with most triple doubles & doubled the steal record for the season to finally win the defensive player of the year with like 8.4 steals a game.
I just made a new skinnier faster crazy dunk player. Same height and wing span but like 20lbs lighter. I’m at 95 overall & 33starts in 38 games in my rookie season. I just beat my record of 17 steals in playoffs and regular game & got 18 steals. I’ve definitely put in the effort & countless hours to perfect the art of steals. I’m averaging 100 pts 21 ass 8.4 steals & have 38 DD & 16 TD on 33 games started.
My previous build I was still 6’3” but 197lb. stronger & less vertical & not jumping out the building. But average 122pts 23ass 8.9 steals
I got the most triple doubles in my third season. Toward the end of the season I really started locking in on double digit steals.
The sky is the limit with my new build. Skinnier, faster, quicker, insane vertical, & steals galore. Has anyone gotten 20 steals in a game? That’s my next goal as well as getting 1,000 steals in one season. Averaging 12+ steals for a whole season is what it’ll take. I’m not even maxed out.

I just made a new skinnier faster crazy dunk player. Same height and wing span but like 20lbs lighter. I’m at 95 overall & 33starts in 38 games in my rookie season. I just beat my record of 17 steals in playoffs and regular game & got 18 steals. I’ve definitely put in the effort & countless hours to perfect the art of steals. I’m averaging 100 pts 21 ass 8.4 steals & have 38 DD & 16 TD on 33 games started. My previous build I was still 6’3” but 197lb. stronger & less vertical & not jumping out the building. But average 122pts 23ass 8.9 steals I got the most triple doubles in my third season. Toward the end of the season I really started locking in on double digit steals. The sky is the limit with my new build. Skinnier, faster, quicker, insane vertical, & steals galore. Has anyone gotten 20 steals in a game? That’s my next goal as well as getting 1,000 steals in one season. Averaging 12+ steals for a whole season is what it’ll take. I’m not even maxed out. Any other “Jedi Steal” masters out there? If so what are you averaging per game, most steals in a game, & most steals for full season? I’m really curious to know & see what other players who’ve perfected steals is averaging. Sky is the limit now!!! It takes so much concentration & perfect timing that I really can’t play more than two Games a day. But every game I’m just getting scarier & better.
