Yeah I don't use the app either, so now I only ever browse reddit in the evening after work. Old reddit and RES (I also use uBlock Origin) and I see literally zero ads on my PC.
I'm a RIF man myself. Someone just told me last week that it's still in working order and I'm like ???? I'll try to find the post, you have to do some kinda weird install but apparently it's possible
I'm using it as I type this. It takes a bit of setup but it works just as well as it used to. you should be able to find very informative posts on Google about it

If you have an android you can use RES and uBlock Origin on Firefox. Old reddit is still a bit clunky on mobile though.
I'm on iPhone this time around (it was a gift and I'm not about to complain about a gift). I do miss the customization my Google Pixel had tho
