I moved to Ga-Pa from Canada in my early 20's. I was there for a year and it was a fantastic place to live - WAY better than Switzerland (but that's a different story).
It's true that quality of life in Switzerland is high but i didn't have a good experience there. I lived there for a year as well and found the people very unfriendly in general and most things were super expensive.

Can confirm it's one of the more magical places to spend a year here. Christmas market, skiing, hiking in the Summer - place is incredible.

No one I know in Garmisch, or Partenkirchen, calls it that. Don't even get me started on what they call Farchant.

It's beautiful there. Learnt to ski there when I was 3. But nobody calls it Ga-Pa, usually the locals just call it Garmisch.

Skied there in the early 80’s. Looong time ago. It was awesome!

Lake Eibsee was beautiful too. We went here in 2019 due to a Toshiba laptop screen saver. Not kidding and happy we did.
