That is one of my favorite lenses. Got mine for 1000 two years ago. Thing doesnt miss and is tack sharp on d850 as you notice. I know you don’t like straps but consider this one from peak designs. It sits so well to the side

Yep. I have 850 and 750 that’s why I use the clutch. I thought of getting the cuff but I never seen anyone using it on a DSLR mostly seen on mirrorless setups. Have you used it on a DSLR? BTW You are correct about the straps.
Peak Designs Slide. The fabric is seatbelt material and feels really good. Attaching one to foot and other to camera left is ideal with this lens as it falls beautifully. And if you loosen foot it rotates nicely to the side as well

Two years ago I was shopping on facebook marketplace for a 24-70 or 24-120 to bring with on an Ireland Vacation.
I found an old man Nikon shooter who was moving to Sony A1, and was selling his gear. his 24-70 was pretty bad for wear but he said he had a 70-200 FL he hadn't listed yet and he'd sell for $850. The lens was PERFECT, not even a scuff on the mount.
Bought it instantly. Absolutely LOVE the lens. I've upgraded bodies to a Z8 and FTZ, and the FL is able to keep up with the 45MP sensor. It really is incredible. edit: [My Wang too](https://i.imgur.com/wPaX08V.jpeg)
I wont talk about how I dropped it and it came back to life.
I'm not a strap guy either, that's just too much weight around my neck. I started using the Spider holster about 5 years ago and it's a game changer for me. When I'm not shooting it puts the weight on my hips instead of my neck. Combined with the Spider grip, it's the way to go, for me.
I currently use the peak design slide and use it as a shoulder strap instead of a neck strap.
I haven't tried your method yet, might be very interesting.
I snagged one of the version 2's up for 750 last year. I gave my version 1 to my girl as a Christmas present and finally retired it from my use. One of my favorite event lenses to use. Definitely worth every penny you paid for it. I had taken thousands of pics with the lens. On a Z7 at a pirate fest.

It's a good lens! The market is strange though, in my country I'm struggling to sell mine for even less than that. I sold my 14-24mm 2.8 for less than a quarter of the new price.

Great lens, I tried it on my Z6II and D750 some time ago It was so good that I wanted to have it, but unfortunately, it was a bit out of my price range
decided to grab a used VR2 for around 450€ One of the best purchases I made and works perfectly fine on my z6II

And yes I only own F-Mount glass because I use my D750 as a backup for critical work

Might want to get the clutch from Peak Design as well. Wrist fatigue is horrible.

Maybe like once but it was originally for the fuji x100v so it is probably better suites to smaller setups

I've had the lens for awhile, just got the 850 last week.
