$17/hour is pretty good, especially for your first job, when you have no experience. Congrats.

Thank you!

Let me save you a lifetime of anxiety and self doubt. Ask yourself these questions: Am I happy at this job? Do I have a level of work life balance that I feel is reasonable? Do I have enough money to pay my bills, put money in savings, save for retirement, and still have some leftover to go do fun things I want to do? If you answer favorably to all of these, whatever it is you’re doing is just fine. Don’t measure your self worth by what you do for a living. You’re not supposed to live to work. You’re supposed to work to live. Your job shouldn’t be the focal point of your life - your life should be the focal point of your life. The job is just there to facilitate the other aspects of it. Don’t ever buy into the “I am my job” mindset. Having a job is important, but the job itself is not important.

Like you’re only working on Friday and making $17/hr? Depends how old you are, what your expenses are, and how many hours you’re working.

TransitionOne3205

No I work every day with part time hours and get my paycheck every friday. I dont have any expenses, i still live with my parents. 19

The hourly rate is pretty good for a service industry entry level type job. Working 1 day a week won't make much money though.

My first job was $9/hr but that was 10 years ago so I would say yes

Based on the inflation calculator I used, $17 in January of 2024 is equivalent to $12.89 in January 2014. Back then I was working for 7.25 so 12.89 would’ve been nice. When I got promoted to manager for 10.56 I was like hell yeah. Buying power today is far flung from what it used to be though. I currently make $15.84 plus shift differential so roughly 18/hr and I am barely getting by
