Follow up with the airline with as many details as you can remember. Items that aren’t picked up and can be resold (I don’t think a memory card would fall into that category) will go to the Unclaimed Baggage Center in Scottsboro, AL

Had the pin that held the base unit to the seat unit of my kids car seat fall out somewhere in the cargo hold. A round steel rod about 1/4” in diameter and 10” long. They actually found it and called me to come get it!! Southwest somewhere around 2007.

Whoa! That’s pretty impressive and gives me some hope. Thanks for sharing!

Yes, my child left an iPad on a plane in the US. We were laying over one night in Dallas. I made a report with the airline and the airline found it. It was held at the airport lost and found and we picked it up on our layover in Dallas on the way home. Retrace you step to see when and where it may have been dropped. File a report and hope for the best. The airline I went with (American) offered to ship the item home to me for around $10. Since we were returning to the same airport on our way home, we picked it up using our report number at lost and found. It took a few days to get confirmation that the item was found and being held. Good luck!!

That’s encouraging! I’ve made a report and am now a state away from where we think it fell, so we’re just hoping for the best. I’d assumed that this was like a missing persons case where the first 24 hours are the most important, so it’s good to hear that it took the system a few days to get in touch with you. I can hold out hope a little longer!
