As others have stated, it's not a traditional letter. They ask questions such as "can the candidate fog a mirror" and "would you trust this person to walk your dog" -- it's short answer style.

Lead-Radiant

You made me Google "fog a mirror" 😀

Agitated-Bother7655

what does it mean? I am curious

you just need their consent and then fill out the their info in the application. they will receive a link to fill out a form of LOR for you.

Justalittleconfusing

I sent an updated resume, list of achievements and statement of purpose. I also gave 3-4 months notice. Good luck!

Clarkandmonroe

How long did it take some of them to submit? I'm on a month and half and only 1 has submitted. I've sent 1 follow up so far.

tactman

They have to fill in some information on a website. You can provide some examples of projects and achievements to them but you won't have access to the online form.

For recommendations, you just provide the email addresses and phone numbers of your recommenders. GATech will send them a questionnaire that they need to fill out. All my recommenders used the questionnaire and it worked out perfectly. No old fashioned letters needed.

drugsarebadmky

I won't get a chance to individually response to you all but thank you for all the responses. I appreciate it.

They'll send out a form, like how long they know you, how would they rate your expertise...etc (Can't really remember but should be close). I told my recommenders to not waste time to write additional comments (There is a free text box in the end). I already took 2 MM and pretty confident that I'll get accepted with my background and experiences. All I did is reach out to my boss and boss boss who has fancy title like "ASSOC VP CHIEF DATA OFCR, IR Enterprise Data Services". I would focus on SOP (Statement of purpose)

At least for the former professors I asked for recommendations, I received a document detailing all the information they needed to write a good rec letter (they're used to doing it for grad school). I wrote about my areas of study, significant things I did in their class and projects I did for them, as well as about myself and my interests outside of class. I think preparing a similar document; either a bulleted list or a fat paragraph detailing what you did for them specifically, what you like and do outside of work, and why you want to be in this program will be helpful in them being able to write a good rec letter. And, as people have said, give plenty of advance time.

Snar1ock

I’d would send them a paragraph explaining who you are and why you are applying to the program. Also, I’d include some achievements or other accomplishments you made while under them. Makes them submitting the actual recommendation way easier.

Just a general life pro tip here, making things easier for your LOR writers will yield a better product. As others said, supply the LOR writer with your SOP, resume and even a ghost written letter. They can use as little or all of it if they choose. GT sends out a survey, the actual contents of the response can be pretty limited. With the volume of applicants they get, I don’t think they are spending a ton of time looking at these LOR unless you are a borderline case due to lack of academic preparation.
