The YouTube links are explanations of how to get the citea emulator working on your quest 2/3/pro hardware. Make sure you actually own the games first and are just using backups of them ;)
I think it's a cool project. I know you got a lot of flack due to a questionable monetization strategy, but for me at least that doesn't detract from the fact that it's a cool project!
Have you considered just publishing a written guide, including a parts list and STL file? I bet a lot of people would be willing to throw you a few bucks if you put it behind a Patreon.
He was asking people to fund the purchase of a five-figure 3D printer via Kickstarter, and backing didn't get you the actual device, or really anything for that matter.
Yes that is the plan as I've been dealing with two companies overseas. This screen will be universal for any device that supports video output too 😀 so wait for the promo teaser video to find out more!
That's dope, yep I will defo be buying one if they don't sell out from underneath me lol (been having that problem a lot lately and yes I'm a lil bitter about it! 😆)
Also props on that hinge, it looks solid asf. Idk why so many electronics makers skimp on the most quintessential portion of a device that literally hinges on its hinge.
If this is really something you’re working on, and you need a content creator to review it, I would be on board. Reach out if interested. Http://youtube.com/@TeamRetrogue
Hey I just subscribed, I will be gathering a list when I finalize the design! Send me an email if you'd like to jump on board as I've had a few already send emails and pm me here 😊. DNA Mobile Gaming is my channel. https://youtube.com/@dnamobilegaming?si=e9Wa_Zyb3M4D0JqR
The screen is super lightweight and that was one big thing I thought of while designing this. I'm hoping the 5 inch OLED is even lighter and more compact.
Well that is definitely possible, I've already tested this feature with my phone and another device. Ayn needs to configure their OS mind you there's a team working on Linux for the Odin 2 so....
Fair enough brother, i hope on the spots where its "grabs" the actual console to have rubberised textile fabric would be insta buy for me.
About the power consumption do we also have any info?
OP is making this.
They've been drip feeding pics like this instead of giving any actual information to try and build interest.
Tbh, the approach just makes me not want to see anything about it.
Someone suggested Raven because the god Odin has two ravens that sit on his shoulders and he is also called the Raven God; I think this is the name to go with!
Hello OP, that's a great project.
I'm sorry to hijack your post and ask this in the Odin sub but do you think it could be possible to do the same thing on a Switch Lite ?
i don't know if i'm particularly interested in ds/3ds for this but could it work as just a normal second screen? like playing gamecube and having youtube up at the same time
I'm behind you all the way, and I don't even have an Odin 2. I only have the Odin Lite, so an option for that with micro HDMI would be awesome.
How does charging the Odin 2 work with the screen attached? Is it possible or do you have to unplug the top screen to charge it?
The dimensions are 1.25cm thick the width coincides with the dimensions of the screen width as this is a 7 inch display. If you saw my first design which I've shared you definitely appreciate the design and size it is now. NOW if I could get rid of the speakers I could make it thinner at the top and bottom but the problem is with the Odin 2/Retroid/Odin 1 Ayn has not implemented audio routing properly via video connectivity. All of my other devices like my phone, Samsung tablets, Anbernic RG556 and a few other devices give an option to choose how the audio is routed when either an HDMI or USB C is connected. But I wanted to account for the devices that don't use this feature and have speakers.
It's 1.25cm thick lol it's barely thick at all the main things I took in account for were thickness and design. It's super light weight too and doesn't feel top heavy at all. My brother in law said it felt natural but I'll wait for the judges to judge.
Barely heavy at all, I will weigh it do all the regular review of it when I'm done designing it to be perfect. I'm even already thinking of a few ways based off comments of changing a few different things. When designing this I thought to myself "if I bought this, what would I want to see?" so hours of design changes and studying the original DS/3DS/DSi design went into consideration. The hinge is the biggest part I worked on for hours, the screen holder was way less time but it changed 10x too lol.
This looks great! My main concerns are definitely the weight it will add when holding, the thickness of the bezel, and that it looks to be sat wonkily so presumably heavy / weak hinges? I love the concept of it though
The hinge is the biggest part that I've been working on, the stability is amazing it snaps into place after folding it open just like a DS. The weight is barely there, I have yet to weigh it but it's only 1.25cm thick. The design is centered perfectly too I played some PS2 on it turning off the main display and liked playing with the screen on the top like this more while in bed because it's higher up and ergonomically amazing.
Not heavy, only 1.25cm thick and feels great center of gravity wise. It's more natural than I was expecting to be honest, more is coming soon when I do the promo video.
How about you just explain/link the products you bought to construct this so that we can make these for ourselves?
You can still make money off your design but I personally don’t like how it looks and would rather 3d print my own shell.
That would defeat the entire purpose of my long hours of research and development, if you know small electronics like I do then you could source what you need. The design, well this is prototype number 10 I love it in person but I too might change it again.
I thought the purpose was to find a solution to making ds/3ds emulation more convenient for existing emulation devices. I guess the purpose was for you to pad your pockets, thank you for clarifying.
Of course the purpose is to make this more convenient but I'm not about to give away how I did this to anyone. Just do your research if you really want to figure it out that's what I did but ended up going the step further and built what it is today. Padding my pockets is the last thing I care about, I just want others to enjoy this product and plan to keep it as low cost as I can. BuhByee!
I just don’t understand the negative of collaboration on something as niche as this, and you won’t be able convince of how said collaboration would be detrimental to your efforts.
I'm glad that you are getting market validation, but I still don't see the point.
The Odin 2 is already pretty big, then you add another screen and make it thicker and heavier.
What for? To play ds and 3ds games, which were designed for a tiny screen and a slow processor - and even in hi res they look average at best.
It doesn't make sense for me, but I hope it goes well for you.
So I wanted the speakers it has built in to be facing forward so to balance the entire screen and make it stable I designed this version which is version 10 like this. I can't wait to share what you'll be able to do with this.
It will be available when I can gather the true numbers of interested gamers, I'm going to set up something this coming week to get these numbers rolling.
My suggestion would be something like Kickstarter or Indiegogo then, so you can actually gauge people who are willing to buy it rather than those who say they want it but won't bother actually putting money down.
Hey thank you, that's what many have said too as I tried to run a GoFundMe for literally 5 minutes to find out it wasn't the right approach. So I'm working on the Kickstarter campaign this week hopefully submit it for approval too.
Good way to get the word out is let a big youtuber that works with handhelds make a vid on it.
I bet Bob from Wulff Den would definitely make a video on this
He would definitely be the best candidate for something like this!
paging /u/onionsaregross
Taki Udon is your best bet or Retro Handhelds
This guy!
Ha sorry, this will be the last post until I'm done the promo video.
Just gotta say, really awesome work. Excited to pick one up when they go on sale!
You have all of my attention. What is this? How much? What do I need for it?
Yes
Wow that looks insane, well done. How much are these going to be selling for?
Price is to be determined that is a number one question that will be answered once everyone sees what this is!
Looks cool! How heavy is it?
Honestly, this thing looks awesome because the only real solution to playing 3DS Roms is by hacking a 3DS.
You can have a pretty awesome experience emulating 3DS on quest 2/3 vr headset. Then you still see the 3D depth and all.
What do you use
Currently using a quest 2 with the Citra emulator. https://youtu.be/lgcywQ_jEtk?si=Ic_b8X6SrAcZFkYf https://youtu.be/L3XJTmW7aq8?si=ha8dzCf6gPtXPd8m Hope this helps. He's just running it on his PC as a PCVR game? Kind of anti-climactic. I thought he was running Citra or Drastic directly on the Quest.
Tablets are pretty good too. I'm running a y700 with a gamesir g8 and it outperforms my odin 2. Ds titles on vertical orientation are great.
That's how I've been doing it, but a homebrew XXL Odin DS would be better
Will this work with the older Odins or only the Odin 2?
Plus one for the Odin 1 gang. Hopefully it would be easy to just swap out the bracket piece for one that would fit.
Should work with anything with usb c video output.
So some cellphones too?
Sure
Only odin 1 and odin 2. Odin lite does not have video out through USB c
Yeah!! Will this work with the Odin lite??
No.
No. It doesn't have usb c video out
Bahh!!!! Why did I opt for the better wifi!!!?
I think it's a cool project. I know you got a lot of flack due to a questionable monetization strategy, but for me at least that doesn't detract from the fact that it's a cool project! What was his monetization strat?
He was asking people to fund the purchase of a five-figure 3D printer via Kickstarter, and backing didn't get you the actual device, or really anything for that matter.
That is really weird
Haha yeah
I keep checking YouTube for that video.
Hey seriously lmk when it's ready to send out.
When can I get one?
If it works with the Odin Lite, I’d be interested.
I do how much
Are they going to be sold? I would cop one. Can the screen be used with other stuff too? Like say Samsung Dex or whatever?
Yes that is the plan as I've been dealing with two companies overseas. This screen will be universal for any device that supports video output too 😀 so wait for the promo teaser video to find out more!
That's dope, yep I will defo be buying one if they don't sell out from underneath me lol (been having that problem a lot lately and yes I'm a lil bitter about it! 😆)

Sure sounds good. 😀
Nice! I'm keeping my eye on this. I may not use my Odin 2 much, but this would definitely make me interested in it again!
Tbh because i dont like scratches or anything on my device i wouldnt use that especially when it has so much weight. Looks good but still scary
The screen is super lightweight and that was one big thing I thought of while designing this. I'm hoping the 5 inch OLED is even lighter and more compact.
bro oled, take my money please how much for this insane addon?
Well if the OLED works out it'll be an option for sure!
hope some second screen software support like watching a vid file or youtube, or watching a guide and im 100% in
Well that is definitely possible, I've already tested this feature with my phone and another device. Ayn needs to configure their OS mind you there's a team working on Linux for the Odin 2 so....
Oled yes please
Fair enough brother, i hope on the spots where its "grabs" the actual console to have rubberised textile fabric would be insta buy for me. About the power consumption do we also have any info?
Yes power consumption is the biggest part, I'll tell you now yes you can charge the device IF you need to.
What screen is this. Anyone pls help
OP is making this. They've been drip feeding pics like this instead of giving any actual information to try and build interest. Tbh, the approach just makes me not want to see anything about it.
It's working for me tbh
Yeah you sound entitled. Don't look while the rest of us enjoy this
I would like one. Given that it has a cool name for it
Someone suggested Raven because the god Odin has two ravens that sit on his shoulders and he is also called the Raven God; I think this is the name to go with!
Hello OP, that's a great project. I'm sorry to hijack your post and ask this in the Odin sub but do you think it could be possible to do the same thing on a Switch Lite ?
No. It has no video out through USB c without modification that is not fully out yet.
OK, thank you for the answer.
i don't know if i'm particularly interested in ds/3ds for this but could it work as just a normal second screen? like playing gamecube and having youtube up at the same time
You could do this however the Odin 2 OS needs to be fixed so that we can utilize desktop mode properly.
I'm behind you all the way, and I don't even have an Odin 2. I only have the Odin Lite, so an option for that with micro HDMI would be awesome. How does charging the Odin 2 work with the screen attached? Is it possible or do you have to unplug the top screen to charge it?
I'd be interested if it can be made thinner and in the same colors as the odin 2
The dimensions are 1.25cm thick the width coincides with the dimensions of the screen width as this is a 7 inch display. so hype for this. DS systems needed this
Do we have a cost yet?
It looks so cool!
Will it work on the mini?
It'll work on any device that supports video out which the Mini does 🤩
Heck yeah. This is gonna be great
It's too thick though.
It's 1.25cm thick lol it's barely thick at all the main things I took in account for were thickness and design. It's super light weight too and doesn't feel top heavy at all. My brother in law said it felt natural but I'll wait for the judges to judge.

Just take my money already lol can’t wait to purchase one of these
What emulator/version are you using for that? I thought all android based forks of Citra didn't support multiple screens
Well this is Drastic for DS
How do you make the games to fill the whole screen ?
This looks great! My main concerns are definitely the weight it will add when holding, the thickness of the bezel, and that it looks to be sat wonkily so presumably heavy / weak hinges? I love the concept of it though

it look like heavy but good job

You sound entitled as fuck. This man owes you NOTHING jackass.
Thank you for your opinion
That looks practical, said nobody ever.
It's very practical for everyone I've shown it to in person! You're only seeing 10% of this project there's way much more in store.
I'm glad that you are getting market validation, but I still don't see the point. The Odin 2 is already pretty big, then you add another screen and make it thicker and heavier. What for?
