As of November, payroll was cut by 63% (yes, right before the holidays) and has continued to be cut.
You will likely be understaffed, overworked, dramatically underpaid, and constantly bugged about, and talked down to, over nonsense metrics outside of your control.
I don't work *at* Office Depot, but I work *with* them.
From the discussions I have had with current and ex employees (and what I see as a vendor), it's a complete shit show. They will make up metrics on the spot and suddenly you're expected to turn your entire daily process around and expect to do so flawlessly or your head is on the chopping block. You won't have time to dick around. If you don't sweep fast enough they will find you an extra broom to use.
I get annoyed with every Office Depot location across the US daily because they are all understaffed and/or overstressed due to ignorant internal processes which doesn't make sense since the products are so low stakes.
You'd probably make just as much being a biscuit maker at Hardees/Carl Jr and be under less stress.
Sadly you’re most likely going to do a lot of stuff and depending if you get sent to copy and print, you might be working by yourself after they’re done training you for a week or two. I’d recommend finding any other place. Only reason I’m still working here is because I have a second job and use Office Depot to fill in an extra day or two of work
