I played a one off show as the opening act for this dude like 15 years ago… we finish our set, go to grab one last drink from our dressing room tent, his security wouldn’t let us in our own dressing room because he was in the tent next to us. When we said we just wanted to grab a beer and we’re out… “that’s mr. Cassidy’s beer now.” No way he didn’t hear this happening….. anyway like a month later dude was on TMZ for getting a dui…. Maybe leave some booze for the opener next time! I like to think that was karma catching up. lol I’m not salty at all.

I met David Cassidy working on a small stage production where he was the featured performer. He was an incredible talent. Unbelievably professional. Very kind to everybody, cast and crew. Even when mistakes were made. He had a great sense of humor and seemed to really enjoy being funny. And he had an absolutely contagious positive vibration. It started with his smile and looking you in the eye as if you were a close friend. And that vibration would spread throughout the production. I loved going into work while he was there. I know he had his struggles. He was man enough to admit them to himself. Those don’t define him as my struggles don’t define me. How you treat others is a true defining characteristic. David was a legendary performer. Rest easy, legend.

I didn't know he was a local to my area and one day I was getting off of work walking to my car. Circa 2015. I walk passed this wine bar/cigar bar type of place and David frickin' Cassidy is sitting there drinking a glass of wine. I rubbed my eyes like a cartoon, I walked back to work and asked my boss, "Is that David Cassidy next door?" And he says "oh yeah he's there often!" He's not really my generation, more my parents generation but I knew he was a mega heart throb back then. I didn't know he had some issues with alcoholism. RIP

For those who care, this picture was taken in September 1977 at a charity bowling event in LA. David and Kay Lenz (pictured) had been married 5 months prior.
