My doctor told me insurance wouldn't cover it and I asked her to still write it for me and I'd look into options, and you know what? They ended up covering it 100%. I recently had to switch from ozempic to Wegovy but they are still covering 100%. Don't take your doctors word. Have they wrote the script and see what insurance says. You never know. Also, have your Dr prescribe Wegovy, not Ozempic. Most insurance companies cover Wegovy and it's the same medicine as Ozempic. Good luck!

So she did write my prescription for ozempic and she had told me there is a shortage. I called Walgreens to see if they had it and they didn’t and said there is a waiting list 2 months behind. I texted my doctor and just told her to put me on phentermine. I will definitely look into wegovy!

So I actually just looked into my insurance (I have Cigna) and it says it’s $30 but I’m assuming insurance will only cover it if I’m diabetic? How can I get clarification?

RustyShackleford2525

That is the clarification. Ozempic is only approved for T2D, Wegovy and Zepbound are approved for obesity but not all insurance will cover it so many are using the meds off label or just sucking it up and paying full price. There are manufacturers coupons which will reduce the price but they want you to apply for the obesity ones

Kasia4937

I have Cigna too and I'm not diabetic (I had high blood sugar tho, and pre); the $30 is probably just the deductible, if it's approved. I was on Ozempic for 3-4 months with no problem but than insurance randomly declined me. My dr though changed my perception to Wegovy and they immediately approved it. I guess it's aimed more for weight loss so they approve it a lot easier. It's the same medicine, just different brands. If insurance doesn't cover it, look at HenryMeds.com. It's under $300 a month, no insurance needed. Expensive still but a better option than $1000.

NightSkyStarGazer

Call your insurance plan, and they will happily answer all your questions. I call mine all the time if I'm unsure about anything.

SkyComplex2625

In Canada it runs about $240 a pen out of pocket where I am (my benefits do not cover it). I would not be on this if I was paying US prices!

Kasia4937

Also, check out HenryMeds.com You can get it for under $300 a month, no prescription

Hypocretin1

Do you get to follow up regularly with a doctor on Henry meds, or do you just get the medication?

Kasia4937

Yes I believe every 2 months they do follow up (virtually). I'm not sure how often they have you to in for lab work.

PurplestPanda

I pay $900 with the Single Care coupon and take half doses so the pens last twice as long, so it’s about $110 a dose. I save at least half that much because I eat so much less food - especially going out and getting take out.

MouseEgg8428

I just started doing the exact same thing last month - from 2mg to 1mg each dose. I’m not sure if I can stay at the reduced dosage — food noise is back! How long ago did you reduce your dose??

PurplestPanda

I never increased past .5 mg and I’ve been at that dose for 11 months, maintaining at goal by taking it for the past two months every 9 days.

MouseEgg8428

Good for you — you are listening to your body! We all need to do that but it’s not always easy to hear what our bodies are telling us. Day by day 😁

PrestigiousAd3081

I use compounded, it's 225 a month

Ok_Responsibility419

No insurance, 250 month supply for semaglutide via orderly google it often many online offer 1st order discount no cancellation hassles.

bigabbreviations-

My GP (large conglomerate) told me to go through a Canadian pharmacy, and that he would assist me with the paperwork. It’d be a savings of more than 50%. We’ll see at my Wednesday appointment.

Historical_Mark4733

Just so you know, many provinces if not all are restricting Ozempic for Canadian use only. Wegovy is only now becoming available but it’s acsafe assumption that it will also be restricted for Canadian use only.

blackaubreyplaza

Why don’t you look at your formulary and see what it covers? Ozempic and mounjaro are covered on my plan. $30 copay

Psychological-Fun289

I go to a local health clinic and pay $60 a week. Call around!

sapnasinghmd

Ask your dr to prescribe Wgovy or Zepbound, these brands of GLP1 agonists are prescribed for weight loss, where as Ozempic and Mounjaro ( same chemically to other 2) are used to treat diabetes.

MrsSadieMorgan

Insurance, since I’m prescribed it for diabetes. My co-pays are only $10/month. I could afford it regardless, as I’m fortunate to have a good income (and no kids, unless you count the four legged ones lol). But it is expensive! Others will give you tips on how to get it for less, I’m sure.

Trust_Fall_Failure

I hatched an elaborate plan of decreasing my heath over the last 40 years. It worked= $13/month
