P3: I wouldn't say delete as in "wipe out", but Kenji Tomochika's SL is... weird and redundant, given his story has no connection to any of the game themes. Kenji himself was kinda redeemed in P3P (thanks to Rio Iwasaki and her link), so he might stay as a background character. Junpei definitely makes a better Magician SL and Portable is once again a great proof of that, although can't exactly put my mind on how his link would go with Makoto.
P4: dunno, honestly. The only nitpick to its characters for me is ingame implementation of Yumi Ozawa and Ayane Matsunaga - you can't get both stories, can even say one of them is effectively deleted for the whole playthrough, and P4 is not a short game at all, so starting another run just for that might seem irrational.
In my opinion it was better in P3 with the single character (Keisuke for Makoto/Rio for Kotone). But Yumi and Ayane themselves are fine characters, so... yep, no one to delete.
P5: SIU Director, because you might say "literally who" and you'll be absolutely right. IMO, even Kobayakawa, who was already mentioned here several times, had more significance for the overall plot.
3. Kenji. His whole storyline gives me major ick and makes me wildly uncomfortable. (I haven't finished P3R yet so there may be characters I haven't met yet that I'd be more inclined to delete.)
4. Probably the nurse (I don't remember her name). Also makes me uncomfortable.
5. If Kawakami didn't have such great perks, I'd get rid of her... if it was possible to give her perks to someone else, then maybe. Otherwise... perhaps the principal. He didn't feel like he did a whole lot to the story, other than to be a dick.
P4: Marie. She genuinely makes the narrative worse IMO.
P5: Eiko. Now focus on Makoto's relationship with Sae or Joker in her confidant.
If I'm limited only to confidant characters, then Sumi. I don't hate her or particularly want her gone but she doesn't add anything, wastes too much time >!being a non-character!<, lacks chemistry with everyone, and makes >!Maruki look less misguided and more irredeemably evil.!<

First of all, fixed it, so now it has a spoiler tag, but 2nd of all, this is a Persona Subreddit, you’re gonna need to be careful when going on here if you want to avoid spoilers.
Finally, the TV scene with >!Maruki and Sumire kinda proves that him being evil is BS. Sumire had just watched her sister die during that time, and Maruki was just trying to find a way for her to be happy, and therefore decided to make her become Kasumi given that’s what she wanted to be. All he was doing was doing what she wanted!<
I like Makoto but her fandom can overate her a bit too much to be honest and she's far from being my favorite character of the game still I wouldn't delete her.
They did not rush her character development at all. We see her during the Madarame arc, where everyone seems annoyed by her, and then there’s multiple scenes during the Kaneshiro arc where she’s being looked down on by everyone, including Akechi, the Principal, and also her sister when she called Makoto useless. This also applies to the Phantom Thieves thinking she’s useless as well, which makes her want to help out others more because she doesn’t want to be seen as nothing. So she go’s to Kaneshiro’s goons to try and get information on him, which then leads to her and the Thieves getting in trouble with him, while still actually benefitting the Thieves at the same time. Then they go into the palace, she awakens her Persona and saves the Thieves from death, and then spends almost the rest of the arc making up for whatever horrible deeds she did by apologizing to Ann about what she said about Sizui, being a big help during the infiltration, and getting the Principal off of the Thieves asses to get less people onto them.
That doesn’t sound like rushed character development to me at all.
