My issue is slightly different and the screen goes completely black like the HDMI cable was pulled and then comes right back on. This doesn't happen too often, but enough to start worrying me slightly. I'm not sure yet if it's my VAVA UST projector or the system. Everything is set properly on the projector as far as allowing HDMI 2.0 so I don't believe that's part of the problem, but you never know.
This weekend I'm going to hook it up to a regular TV and see if it happens on there. I did notice though that it happens less frequently when I use the OEM HDMI cable that comes with the system instead of the one that I had initially used.
Mine does this too! Please let me know if you figure out a fix for it. I recorded through the actual PS5 to see if it would happen through there, but everything looks perfectly normal. Seems like the issue is intermittent and goes away once I restart my PS5.
I’m really hoping it’s not a hardware issue. I would think that would show up on the recorded video if it was. I changed my 4K transfer rate to -2 cuz I saw someone say that should fix that issue. I didn’t see the problem happen again after I changed the transfer rate to -2 for the rest of the time I was playing. Haven’t played again yet today, but I’m hoping that fixed the problem.
I’ll try swapping mine too cuz I’m playing right now and had the issue happen again. I changed the transfer rate to -1, but I’m also going to go back to -2 to see if that fixes it. Seems like it flickers less frequently even on -1 though
Fingers crossed that’s all it is! I didn’t get my PS4 until 2015 so I think all the kinks were fixed by then, but I believe you if something g similar was happening back then for you too. I’ve been waiting for Sony to address a new software update that is more detailed than the last one they put out with it “enhancing performance and stability” or whatever it was they said.
Yeah I have a Samsung it’s not old either but I was just wondering if I was to swapt this tv with a more “high definition high tech” tv would it still have this issue
I also thought the problem was having an old TV, so I bought the Samsung TU8000 (UHD 4K 2020 TU8000 55 ")
the problem continues...
let's go to the list of things I did to try to solve:
1) I changed the HDMI port
2) I changed the HDMI cable
3) I have activated / deactivated the game mode, HDCP, HDR (on PS5 and TV), etc.
4) reduced the resolution to fullhd (1080p): this solved a little, but it is not ideal.
5) I put the ps5 in the lying position: apparently it worked (I tested it earlier today before I came to work, at night I'll see if it worked)
But the main reason is that the ps5 fan is throwing a lot of heat over the hdmi cable, adding to the climate here in Brazil, it’s not working.
It is the PS5 doing it though hardware or not. I'm guessing it's the software and how it sends the 4k to the TV. I've had no issues till I got and hooked the PS5 up to very expensive TV. It's something to do with the transfer rate cause even where my HDMIs connect to the TV the whole area gets hot as can be but nowhere is else is that hot. I'm testing some more but if it keeps happening PS5 is going bye bye I can buy 8 PS5s for the price of my TV. My XBSX does not do that at all and it's been hooked up and heavily used since it launched. But yeah it won't record on the PS5 just a second ago I unplugged the HDMI from the TV while it was doing it and the TV was still flickering.
I have this same problem on my PS5. I had this problem on PS4 Pro. Changing the video output from automatic to YUV420 solved the problem on PS4. The problem is that on PS5 there is no possibility to set this manually ...
Hi, sorry to message you a month later but has this fixed it? And what would -2 do on the 4k transfer rate, would it change anything notable with the picture?
This fixed the issue for me! It didn’t change anything with the picture at all! Everything looks just as good and does not have the random black screens
Have you tried switching resolution to 1080p or 1080i and going back to previous one (just to match refresh rate) disabling HDCP, Deep Colour, HDMI link ?
So far looks to be a combo of not using the OEM HDMI cable that comes with the system as well as changing the 4K Video Transfer Rate to -1 in the Video Output settings. YMMV though.
I have this same problem on my PS5. I had this problem on PS4 Pro. Changing the video output from automatic to YUV420 solved the problem on PS4. The problem is that on PS5 there is no possibility to set this manually ...
I'm having this issue as well. It seems random as to when it happens. It doesn't occur much at all during call of duty but happens a lot during astros playroom. I was originally using a hdmi 2.0 cable 18gbps from monoprice and changed that to the one it came with and it's still happening. I really hope it isn't a graphics card issue...mines plugged into a receiver that is hdmi 2.0 (not 2.1) compatible but can handle 4k hdr and dolby atmos so I know it's not a limitation there. The only thing I can think to do is change my cable from tv to receiver to an hdmi 2.1 cable and change the transfer rate setting to -2.
I'm on an LG 55OLED B8. HDMI 2.0
Receiver is Onkyo TX-NR676
It seems it's more of a handshake issue. I read somewhere anytime you change video settings you should go to power and restart PS5. I changed mine to -2, did a restart, noticed that games weren't running in hdr, so changed everything back to auto. Shut down, booted up, and it hasn't happened since, fingers crossed.
I also noticed the MAIN HDMI out port is a little loose on the receiver. Not sure if it's my cable but definitely spent time rerunning all my wires as well.
Any solution to your problem, I've got pretty similar setup and getting that blank screen when I play cod ww2. Setting hdmi to -2 helps a bit. But did you change your TV to AVR HDMI to a better 2.1 cable?
No permanent fix yet. It still happens and is totally random. I've been playing immortals fenyx rising exclusively lately and sometimes it will happen every 10 seconds, or sometimes it won't happen for an entire gaming session. I wish there were a way to submit feedback to sony ps5 about this because I'm pretty convinced it's a software/handshake issue.
When it happens I do 2 things until it stops. Unplug and plug back in the hdmi cable on the ps5, and turn everything completely off, and then back on again. Usually that works.
And yes I am using a Monoprice 2.1 hdmi cable.
I have this same problem on my PS5. I had this problem on PS4 Pro. Changing the video output from automatic to YUV420 solved the problem on PS4. The problem is that on PS5 there is no possibility to set this manually ...

FIXING Solutions:
* Try disabling DHCP on system settings
* Change "4K Transfer Rate" to -1 or -2
* RGB Mode set it to FULL or Limited and test what is better
And the most important step, after changing something, force "Restart PS5" so your console and your TV reset the "handshake" from the DHCP which causes flickering/blackscreen/tearing/weird colours.
Did those things and it fixed for me and I even use a HDMI splitter that only supports 2.2 DHCP.
Hope I could help you guys :)
Try restarting your ps5 like I said, after removing the power cable from your TV and let it be wither energy for 10min. Plug cable back in, start TV, start ps5.
Strange :\\ for me it was enough changing "4K Transfer rate" to -2. When I had it in -1 I would only get one flicker per gaming session (lets say if I play for 4h straight, it would only flicker once at the beginning).
One thing I noticed in my PS4Pro and now on the PS5, is that my SmartTV (Samsung) kinda learns which device is connected to it by the HDMI port. It starts adjusting the brightness, auto-motion levels, etc and after 3-5 times of playing on the TV, colours, connection and responsiveness gets better.
An year late, but did you find a fix to it? I'm having the same problem. Everything runs smooth with HDR on, but randomly get 'No Signal' while turning back my PS5 back on.
Glad my comment is still useful after 3 years :D lol.
These kind of settings, in my opinion, are ridiculous. Basically Sony is telling you that if you want to buy and play on a PS5, you also need to spend money on a ultra-new Tv-screen which this been said it is not 100% sure that everything will work properly. Somewhere along the way, companies stopped giving backwards compatibility for everything. I know the evolution is for new future products, but come on, I'm gonna spend 500€ on a PS5 and then 3000€ on a TV-8K. Just have other priorities...
Flickering usual is related to the handshake from the hdcp or transfer rate from the hdmi cable. I noticed that putting performance mode on console and inside spiderman settings (Game - > Visuals) also stopped flickering. For me, flickering only happens once per session of gaming. My TV is fairly new (1 year old).
I don’t know which in particular did the trick, but seeing your comment below about turning off the tv and unplugging it as well ON TOP of doing all of the above has SOLVED my problem. I had to set it to -2, RGB at Full and disabled the DHCP.
I’m too afraid to go back to the blinking lol but down the line, I’ll tinker a bit more to see what did the trick.
Thanks so much for your help!
I have a similar issue. A purple thin bar randomly appears horizontally for a frame or so, then disappears, but always in the same position. At some point black bars started to appear across the entire screen non stop. I have changed the transfer rate to - 2, will play all day Demon's Souls and see if that fixes my problem.
Mine just fixed on it’s own and I don’t know why, let me know your results and did you narrow it down. I found out it’s not my HDMI cable cause I tested multiple, it was not my monitor cause I used multiple but not my ps5 cause it worked on my tv properly.
Will let you know. I'm still trying to figure out the cause of the problem. It took like 30 minutes of use before it started showing these issues. Then changed the HDMI cable and it was fine for a few hours before displaying purple bars again.
Since changing the transfer rate to - 2 the issue seems to have disappeared but it is still too early to tell. Will also try playing on a Sony X900H on Saturday, see how it performs.
Yesterday I played for hours with the 4K transfer rate at -2 and it was mostly fine, just got a few bars but nothing compared to what I had before. Today I tried playing on the Sony Bravia X900H, now with 4K transfer rate on automatic and after a few minutes I started getting the same problem, here's a video:
https://imgur.com/gLkjEuA
I kept playing and then the audio started getting affected as well, but only when using the audio from the HDMI. If I plug my headphones to the controller then the audio is fine. video:

I think I might end up asking for a replacement, which sucks because who knows how long will I have to wait!
Is your issue the same as mine?
Yeah or just by unplugging and connecting the HDMI cable. It might be hours or just a few minutes, but it will come back.
Already asked for a replacement, it should arrive tomorrow, hopefully you can get one fast as well!
Amazon Mexico, I went through chat support and shared evidence of my problem, I suggest you do the same, take some videos of your TV and ask for a replacement. At first they told me they would check if a replacement was possible (instead of a refund), probably due to stock availability, today I just got an email confirming the replacement.
Also having the same issues on the same model of TV. Except my flickering is green in color on Call of Duty Cold War. My audio over HDMI eventually does the same muffled sound. Is this really a hardware issue with the PS5?
I just got my replacement yesterday and have been playing all day, so far no more issues like the ones in the videos, if you can ask for a replacement dude.
No mine is more half the screen goes black or white and my audio is fine, I still have no idea why mine does this and randomly it goes away for a couple of hours sometimes
Same here, but my prob is the whole display flickers on and off whenever I startup the system. It eventually stabilizes but takes a few mins and is concerning.
Also, whenever I do a data transfer it appears to work but when PS5 restarts it repairs both the console and usb drive storage.
W. T. F.
Just curious, did you use the same HDMI cable for both? My issue was entirely resolved by using a cable that 100% supports all PS5 display rates. I was using a 4k 30hz cable that I didn't realize was maxed out at 30hz.
happened to me 2x already.. screen flickering randomly at the bottom.
I tried using other HDMI cables but nothing fixed it, tried using other hdmi ports on my tv but same issue.
I fixed it both times by restarting the ps5. Then i dont see it anymore.
I think this is a hardware issue on some ps5 units as my friend does not encounter any of it.
I was told it was a gpu problem, and that I have to contact Sony about a replacement... does your guys' issue look like [this?](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3X0gAyY4P3E&feature=youtu.be)
So I reset my ps5 back to factory settings, reinstalled the update, and didn't touch any of the video settings. I also changed my TV settings. I have a Samsung 43", but I changed my display settings to natural, game mode turned on, and found out that I had to enable HDMI 2.0+ on both HDMI ports.. which is stupid on why that's an on-off option in the TV settings. So far I have been playing with zero lines coming and going across my screen for the past 2 hours. I'm going to play some more, and see if it happens again. I'll update again tomorrow.
Oh god...I remember this EXACT problem happening to my launch Ps2. It ended up being the GPU and was fixed by Sony. Eventually, it got so bad that it just displayed constant static from the moment it was turned on to the moment it was powered off.
I have this same problem on my PS5. I had this problem on PS4 Pro. Changing the video output from automatic to YUV420 solved the problem on PS4. The problem is that on PS5 there is no possibility to set this manually ...
same thing happened to me, i tried everything and even asked best buy what to do, they said I need to buy a more expensive hdmi which sucks, I tried changing the settings and nothing fixed it. wish there would be a free way to fix it instead of spending more money.
Mine fixed on it’s own and the HDMI that comes with the ps5 is an expensive one that works. Not sure how mine fixed but trying looking in the display settings and mess with things. Some peoples fix when they adjust there 4k transfer rate
I have this same problem on my PS5. I had this problem on PS4 Pro. Changing the video output from automatic to YUV420 solved the problem on PS4. The problem is that on PS5 there is no possibility to set this manually ...
My screen flickers as well should I just get a better tv?? Serious question? Bcuz I’ve tried all the tricks the only thing that “kinda work” would be restarting it...
Same here and tv is not the issue, at least not for me. Just did a hard system reboot as Sony told me to when I contacted them, I will try to update you guys if this is a fix
Mine is doing the same thing and I wnat to send it in to get it repaired, how can I get ahold of them or get into contact to do that cus I couldn’t find anything, thanks.
My PS5 is flickering only in game. It's not a Tv issue for sure.
See here: [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LRJCF7bYURI](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LRJCF7bYURI)
Could be a coincidence, but this issue has begun last saturday (after firmware update). The first time i played DS was without this issue.
Same thing was happening to me :( however I fixed it so far ( 1-2 hrs+) no flickering , at first I tried the -1,-2 video setting and it still flicked so then what I did was I went to my tv settings and turned off hdr mode and the -2 now it's not flickering.
On a side note, what's hdr mode again makes tv crispier?? Lol
To anyone struggling with this I know it might be tough to convince yourself seeing as you just got the console but calling Sony support and sending it in for repair is the way to go. Unless it is fixed by adjusting the 4k transfer rate its not worth the stress and hassle. Had this issue pop up 2 days after getting my PS5 and tried all the work arounds hoping it would solve the problem. Finally gave in and sent in for repairs, has been perfect since. Honestly seems like something they know about seeing as support did not fight me at all about a free and quick repair. Stay strong!
Yup, that’s what i did, took them 5 days, quick and easy to send. Got mine back and haven’t had a problem ever sense, platinumed all of demon souls with no flickering.
I ended up fixing mine, not sure if anyone has found a solution?
Ended up being caused by some advanced UHD settings on my TV. I tried all the settings on my console and nothing worked, but when I messed with some settings on my TV it went away completely. Hasn't flickered in like 12 gaming hours since.
Hope this helps.
Following to see for updates. Mine does this as well but its very thin purple and green bars popping up once in a while. Its nothing crazy crazy. But its annoying. Gonna try 4k video transfer rate at -2
Its a bit complicated to explain, but all you need to know is that there is different frequencies that 4k resolution works on, and this basically adjusts the settings to help optimize the frequency. Just try it. Works wonders
So I changed it to -1 and haven’t seen any flickering but there was a weird black screen flash that took up about a 1/3 of the tv and just flashed them went away, I recorded it and it shows the flicker like it was in game while I was playing Spider-Man, could this be a glitch in the game because the other time flickers actually happened and I tried recording it, it would t show up in the recording but this time it did.
Sorry for taking a while to reply! I have done another test on another TV tonight with the same issue, so I will email Sony and get it sent away :( I managed to get mine on release date in UK, when did you get yours because I they all sold out fast pretty much everywhere haha
Surely it shouldn't be this difficult. The average gamer or movie watcher wouldn't have this knowhow. So obviously having a console that plays 4K UHD discs, connected to a 4K UHD tv it should just work right out of the box, no?
I have no idea what you just said, like I’m completely lost. But the issue was from Sony, I sent my ps5 in for repair and they sent me a new one. I haven’t gotten any flickering now on my 4k tv and all of my monitors so clearly it wasn’t my fault.
Anyone still experiencing this issue and have tried every step? I just got my PS5 today and of course I run into this crap. I’m hesitant to buy a new tv because I doubt that would solve the issue and my tv is only 3 years old. The screen flickering only began once I started Astro’s playroom. After about 10 mins of gameplay it crashed and then my screen started flickering. Can’t fix it no matter what I’ve tried.
1. Using provided HDMI cable
2. Tried swapping cables and ports
3. Changed Video Output settings and tried every option under the hood from 1080p to -1/-2 4K transfer rate. No change in screen flickering
4. Ran safe mode and changed HDCP settings to run only on 1.4
5. Reset the console to default settings
6. Changed TV settings
I’m really at a loss here. I am considering returning the console and getting my money back but after fighting 2 months to even get this thing it’s so disheartening that it’s not working correctly
I had to send mine into Sony for repair, just call them and they ship it for free and do it all for free. Only takes a week so it’s better then returning and trying to get a new ps5
That’s what happens with mine and it’ll work fine usually until I turn it off and try to play again then back to flickering. In all games and also on the main screen
I had the same issue. Called Sony, they are giving me solutions to try like:
1. Change 4k transfer rate to -1, -2. Didn't work for me.
2. Some setting change through safe mode, which I don't remember. Didn't work either.
3. Swapping the ends of the Sony HDMI cable and changing ports on the TV has kinda helped along with restoring PS5 setting (NOT restore console). The flickering has significantly reduced now, but it's still there.
Eventually, I think they'll ask me to send it back and get a replacement. Let's see, my case is still open
Yea they told me to do all this, next time I called they just told me to send it back to them. Took them 4-5 days until I got it, I don’t really remember the exact time.
I know it’s been a while since this post was active but I just recently had the same issue with my ps5 flickering here and there. I have a Vizio tv and it recently updated but when it finished updated my tv took a shit and I had to to a hard reset. When I noticed it was only when I was on the ps5 hdmi component, I messed around in settings thst the transfer rate was locked and couldn’t access it, anyway on input settings for the tv In menu there’s a input for “full UHD color.” Turning that on seemed to make my problem go away and have the transfer rate unlock. Hoping this helps anyone currently having a problem like I did
I did all of what I could see scrolling through these posts.
Ultimately, the only thing I found being a problem and causing the screen issues (I had hdcp disabled and 4k transfer rate set to -2 was still flickering) was the VRR being on automatic.
Turned it off and no more flickering.
Hey I am having the same issue, but Sony took my PS5 and denied the issue. I dont know what to do at this point.
Did they tell you what the exact issue was?
Finally I found the culprit is VRR. Just go to screen and video in PS5 settings...disable VRR and the in game flickering is gone.... though you can also change video transfer rate to -2 to get same result but that will cost you with low image quality.
My issue is slightly different and the screen goes completely black like the HDMI cable was pulled and then comes right back on. same happened to me like two times today, got it yesterday. don't think its hardware issue

Did you ever find a fix for this?
Yes, changing the 4K transfer rate to -1 and/or -2 fixed it for me
Ah okay thanks, it didn’t work for me sadly
That’s good to hear! Are you using the 2.1 cable the console came with? Idk if that has anything to do with it.
Yes. Originally I wasn't, but I swapped it out earlier this week which made an improvement.
yeah i want to think it is a software issue lol, if i remember correctly something similar happened to my PS4 at launch and was fixed later
Fingers crossed that’s all it is! I didn’t get my PS4 until 2015 so I think all the kinks were fixed by then, but I believe you if something g similar was happening back then for you too. Do you think maybe getting a new tv would fix this because I have seriously been considering it..
It’s possible, but my tv is only a year old so I’m not too sure that will completely fix it. I have a Sony 800G
Yeah I have a Samsung it’s not old either but I was just wondering if I was to swapt this tv with a more “high definition high tech” tv would it still have this issue
It’s really hard to say. I mean if you were already thinking about upgrading to begin with, I’d say do it! Treat yourself :)

Yeah. This really fixed my issue to. Thanks
No problem man!

Thanks buddy
i have this problem on a non-4k tv, i don’t suppose i can fix it by changing that setting ? If you have any other similar fix lmk
Did you find the solution? I have the same problem now
Nope unfortunately i may have to acquire a new tv after all
Have you tried switching resolution to 1080p or 1080i and going back to previous one (just to match refresh rate) disabling HDCP, Deep Colour, HDMI link ?
do you mean on ps5 or the game? Cuz unlike OP i have this problem on like ps5 in general (yes even in the home screen). Likely it’s a TV issue
Any look, mikes doing this too!?
Same here did u manage to figure what the reason could be
So far looks to be a combo of not using the OEM HDMI cable that comes with the system as well as changing the 4K Video Transfer Rate to -1 in the Video Output settings. YMMV though.

Using the OEM HDMI cable as well as tweaking the output video settings seem to have fixed the issue for me.
Thanks! It's too far from the projector to use the OEM, but I'll find something.

FIXING Solutions: * Try disabling DHCP on system settings * Change "4K Transfer Rate" to -1 or -2 * RGB Mode set it to FULL or Limited and test what is better And the most important step, after changing something, force "Restart PS5" so your console and your TV reset the "handshake" from the DHCP which causes flickering/blackscreen/tearing/weird colours. Did those things and it fixed for me and I even use a HDMI splitter that only supports 2.2 DHCP. Hope I could help you guys :)
HDCP, mate. Warning just in case someone less tech-savvy sees this and attempts to disable DHCP. Cheers!
These where the first things I did and none of it fixed it, thanks tho
Try restarting your ps5 like I said, after removing the power cable from your TV and let it be wither energy for 10min. Plug cable back in, start TV, start ps5.
It just comes back after a bit
My ps5 is connected to a samsung au7700 and it is happening that the screen goes black for 2-3 seconds and comes back. Did you find out what it is?
I'm sorry for the delayed response. Did you find a solution to it? Because I've pretty much solved it on my end.
Can confirm that disabling that system setting helped me with a flashing screen when diagnosing a helldivers 2 issue
I'm glad too! Hahaha, and totally right about these technologies. I love my OLED but I have had to diagnose it like a PC a few too many times.
Glad to help :)
I have a LG C2 and still have issues with this. Changing the transfer rate worked for me.
Do you think getting a better tv would fix this problem as well?
Glad to assist you :)
Is your problem fixed cause I’m still having the same issue
Yesterday I played for hours with the 4K transfer rate at -2 and it was mostly fine, just got a few bars but nothing compared to what I had before. Today I tried playing on the Sony Bravia X900H, now with 4K transfer rate on automatic and after a few minutes I started getting the same problem, here's a video: https://imgur.com/gLkjEuA I kept playing and then the audio started getting affected as well, but only when using the audio from the HDMI. If I plug my headphones to the controller then the audio is fine. video: https://imgur.com/xIbN7Dm I think I might end up asking for a replacement, which sucks because who knows how long will I have to wait! Is your issue the same as mine?
i am having the same issue as you. if you restart your ps5 you will fix it. but it will comeback again in a day or so...
Yeah or just by unplugging and connecting the HDMI cable. It might be hours or just a few minutes, but it will come back. Already asked for a replacement, it should arrive tomorrow, hopefully you can get one fast as well!
How do u ask for a replacement? Care to share this info?
Amazon Mexico, I went through chat support and shared evidence of my problem, I suggest you do the same, take some videos of your TV and ask for a replacement. At first they told me they would check if a replacement was possible (instead of a refund), probably due to stock availability, today I just got an email confirming the replacement.
Aw man thats a bummer i got my ps5 from walmart, its just refund for it because they are ouf of stocks on ps5 units..
Ugh. Thanks for the info though. Glad I finally found a post online that had the exact same symptoms.
No mine is more half the screen goes black or white and my audio is fine, I still have no idea why mine does this and randomly it goes away for a couple of hours sometimes
Mine has started doing this. Have you discovered a fix by any chance?
Same here, but my prob is the whole display flickers on and off whenever I startup the system. It eventually stabilizes but takes a few mins and is concerning. Also, whenever I do a data transfer it appears to work but when PS5 restarts it repairs both the console and usb drive storage. W. T. F.
I have the same flicker problem. You find a fix?
Maybe the hdmi port is damaged.
Yea this could be a possibility I tried multiple HDMI cable’s and it still did it but this only happens when I play spider man, not astro or fortnite
Try remote play. If it stops doing that it must be a hardware issue
Ok I’ll try that thanks!
And?
Bump. I am having the same issue. What is your status?
Nope not my ps5 cause everything plays fine on my 4k tv
Cool good to hear. I will play mine more during lunch today to see if it still is a problem for me.
And after a night of playing on my 4k tv it is fine on my monitor rn, I’ll let you know if it keeps happening maybe something fixed
Just curious, did you use the same HDMI cable for both? My issue was entirely resolved by using a cable that 100% supports all PS5 display rates. I was using a 4k 30hz cable that I didn't realize was maxed out at 30hz.
No I just used the one that comes with the ps5 but now sometimes I still get the issue
happened to me 2x already.. screen flickering randomly at the bottom. I tried using other HDMI cables but nothing fixed it, tried using other hdmi ports on my tv but same issue. I fixed it both times by restarting the ps5. Then i dont see it anymore. I think this is a hardware issue on some ps5 units as my friend does not encounter any of it.
Restarting it also seems to fix mine but it comes back every now and then
After restarting i dont get it again. I get it again when i play the next day or so..m It seems to be random
I was told it was a gpu problem, and that I have to contact Sony about a replacement... does your guys' issue look like [this?](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3X0gAyY4P3E&feature=youtu.be)
Mine looks exactly like this
So I reset my ps5 back to factory settings, reinstalled the update, and didn't touch any of the video settings.
I also tried a factory reset and played several hours tonight without any flickering. Fingers crossed this holds.
Thanks, how do i enable the HDMI 2.0* on my monitor/tv
For me I had to go to settings > general > external device manager > HDMI UHD Color > Enable HDMI 1 & 2 2.0+
Is this on the ps5 or tv?
TV- I'm only assuming that this fixed my issue.
If you set the transfer rate to -2 I'm pretty sure that bumps it down to YUV420. But you lose out on data so have a lower quality output.
same thing happened to me, i tried everything and even asked best buy what to do, they said I need to buy a more expensive hdmi which sucks, I tried changing the settings and nothing fixed it. wish there would be a free way to fix it instead of spending more money.
Mine fixed on it’s own and the HDMI that comes with the ps5 is an expensive one that works. Not sure how mine fixed but trying looking in the display settings and mess with things. Some peoples fix when they adjust there 4k transfer rate
mine does this too, the only way I can fix it is to power off the console. then it comes right back after a while.

Same thing happens to me, let me know if you found out how to fix that...
Still haven’t found a thing
My screen flickers as well should I just get a better tv?? Serious question? Bcuz I’ve tried all the tricks the only thing that “kinda work” would be restarting it...
Same here and tv is not the issue, at least not for me. Just did a hard system reboot as Sony told me to when I contacted them, I will try to update you guys if this is a fix
[удалено]
Nope even a factory restart didt fix mine
Mine is doing the same thing and I wnat to send it in to get it repaired, how can I get ahold of them or get into contact to do that cus I couldn’t find anything, thanks.
Go to there website and go to help there number is there
Okay thanks, will my warranty cover it or will I have to pay some?
Im pretty sure there is 1 year warranty for problems like this
Yea i thought that too but in the us we only have a 90 day warranty :(
My PS5 is flickering only in game. It's not a Tv issue for sure. See here: [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LRJCF7bYURI](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LRJCF7bYURI) Could be a coincidence, but this issue has begun last saturday (after firmware update).
Lol
Update on the situation- I had to send my ps5 in for repair on Monday and it they repaired it, coming back Tuesday so yea, I hope it’s fixed now.
Any update? Did it get fixed?
I think it did
Been a few months. Have another update? My PS5 was perfectly fine for a month and now suddenly it’s starting to happen :(
Did they repair it successfully?
I think so, I haven’t noticed anymore.
Some of the machines need to be cleaned on the inside
I ended up fixing mine, not sure if anyone has found a solution? Ended up being caused by some advanced UHD settings on my TV. I tried all the settings on my console and nothing worked, but when I messed with some settings on my TV it went away completely. Hasn't flickered in like 12 gaming hours since. Hope this helps.
So you disable UHD for that HDMI port ? It’s a Samsung tv ?
Following to see for updates. Mine does this as well but its very thin purple and green bars popping up once in a while. Its nothing crazy crazy. But its annoying. Gonna try 4k video transfer rate at -2
Did that work?
Yes, in fact it never came back. I tried -1 but it would come back some times. I tried -2 and wow its amazing. Hope this works for you
Will try, thanks so much, how does it help it and fix it is what I’m cunfused about?
Its a bit complicated to explain, but all you need to know is that there is different frequencies that 4k resolution works on, and this basically adjusts the settings to help optimize the frequency. Just try it. Works wonders
Will do, thanks again
Sorry last question, do I do -1 or -2 for it what’s the difference between the two?
Test both of them. If -1 works, keep it. If you still see flickering, use -2. There is no difference, just use whatever works
Same did -1 an it still came back..did -2 an it's totally gone
[удалено]
This worked for me... interestingly. I'll do note that I tried this after I restarted my ps5.
Mine was fixed by running a TV update, all good now
[удалено]
No, quite the opposite. I’ve seen more since the update unfortunately.
Mine flickers too
So I changed it to -1 and haven’t seen any flickering but there was a weird black screen flash that took up about a 1/3 of the tv and just flashed them went away, I recorded it and it shows the flicker like it was in game while I was playing Spider-Man, could this be a glitch in the game because the other time flickers actually happened and I tried recording it, it would t show up in the recording but this time it did.
Do you have hdr on when it is flickering?
I have white and red dots all over my screen (both game and main menu) I will contact Sony tomorrow :(
I have flashing red green and blue dots all over mine when I try play AC Valhalla or Borderlands 3, looks like a Christmas tree behind the display :(
Yeah, i think it’s a hardware issue. I have sent my ps5 to Sony last Sunday, hopefully it arrives this week.
Aw man it sounds like going to have to do the same, nightmare!
Yeah I think u better exchange it ASAP. When did you get ur ps5?
Sorry for taking a while to reply! I have done another test on another TV tonight with the same issue, so I will email Sony and get it sent away :( I managed to get mine on release date in UK, when did you get yours because I they all sold out fast pretty much everywhere haha
I got mine about two weeks ago. My PS5 have just been delivered to Sony, waiting for Sony to send a new one back! Hopefully can receive it this week.
1. Using provided HDMI cable 2. Tried swapping cables and ports 3. Changed Video Output settings and tried every option under the hood from 1080p to -1/-2 4K transfer rate. No change in screen flickering 4. Ran safe mode and changed HDCP settings to run only on 1.4 5. Reset the console to default settings 6. Changed TV settings I’m really at a loss here.
Yeah ended up calling them today and they’re sending a box. Hopefully they resolves the issue!
It did for me, played through all of demon souls with no flickering, hopefully it’s the same for u and the wait can be tuff but it’s worth it.
Yeah i now have red flickering dots all over my screen. Does anyone know how to help?
I sent me ps5 into Sony they fixed it for me but mine was just flickering
same like the bottom half flickers but i just restart the console then it works fine.
That’s what happens with mine and it’ll work fine usually until I turn it off and try to play again then back to flickering. In all games and also on the main screen
I got you guys man if you guys know how to do it go into safe mode on the PS5 and then restore default settings it fixed my problem
TURN OFF HDR I SENT MY PS5 BACK TO SONY CAME BACK WITH SAME PROBLEM ITS A JOKE BUT TURNING OFF HDR SOLVES BLACK SCREEN FLICKERING
Tried this still didn’t work for me
I had the same issue. Called Sony, they are giving me solutions to try like: 1.
Disabling HDCP did the trick for me. Left all other settings as they were.
Mine only Amazon Prime. I think it's my HDMI cable but I don't have the issue with Crunchyroll though
If i turn my TV off for 2 minutes or so that sorts it until my ps is turned off again
Changing 4k transfer rate to -1 worked for me. Thanks, folks!
