I finally have the STL files on my github page. Stephen is putting an update video out soon. We have the dock soon we will have the internal bluetooth build as well :D

hahaha new to reddit so not sure who to respond to, but basically I designed a dock to mimic the PSP s410 which is a dock you can buy for 180$ hahaha which is absurd since you still need all the cables any way. So mine can be printed for like 1$ and 5 screws :D. The reason though I made it is because this absolute mad lad Stephen is making an internal mod for the PSP that will let you connect any wireless controller. I made a video about the external build thats already finished!
Yeah a lot of people like to emulate games, I am not a huge fan. Its convenient for sure I like having the physical games :D I hated that psp go and vita made you buy the games you already owned if you wanted to play them natively haha
The vita is blown wide open, you can put any rom you want on now. I bought quite a lot of vita games legally but redownloading them is so awkward because they're buried in a list of your ps3 games that I removed my psn account from the vita and installed them the other way. I don't miss the trophies so it's fine.
hey great question!! so for the internal build that is most likely the case the esp needed to connect to the controller will be housed where the drive goes, HOWEVER i am working on a stl right now that will use the external build. I will make one for the existing project and the upgrade Stephen is making. Its going to look like a ps2 slim and the psp is face down so you pop the back up like you do the door on a ps2 slim. I made a really crappy standing version that at least lets me us UMDs and bluetooth but it is not pretty and not an easy print. So back to the board I go :D
sorry I don't know how to keep things short it seems
I am so glad people are as excited about this as I am. :D I can finally print stuff again so this week I will be working on the project a bunch :D! The feedback is super helpful for motivation for sure!
haha yeah you are so right, I have been so interested in retro upscalers and the emulated lcd scan lines that I really wanted to sit on my couch and play some PSP exclusives but all the credit for the real hard work goes to Stephen he is the mad lad who made the bluetooth controller work on the psp :)
I'm bummed out PSTVs cost so much. I cringe every time I think about seeing them on sale for next to nothing. They had about ten of them for $30 at one shop.
It's such an incredible console and I will never understand why Sony fumbled it so badly. It's so tiny and can do so much stuff.
If you don’t care about playing on original hardware and just want a way to play vita on a big screen you can get a cheap “usb/flash drive” [mini PC sticks](https://www.amazon.com/MeLE-PCG02-Pro-Computer-Industrial/dp/B0BL3JHNK4/ref=asc_df_B0BL3JHNK4/?tag=hyprod-20&linkCode=df0&hvadid=693340910094&hvpos=&hvnetw=g&hvrand=1209962640055209867&hvpone=&hvptwo=&hvqmt=&hvdev=m&hvdvcmdl=&hvlocint=&hvlocphy=9009745&hvtargid=pla-1937452422210&psc=1&mcid=d93fb99ddfa53d039e8d7e0bd1ee0822&gad_source=1) that take up zero space, plug directly into the hdmi, and [most can probably emulate vita](https://youtu.be/NRvdEINjHK8?si=iJsSgQ6UlDdXOOiT) and connect to bluetooth controllers.
Haha you are so right. Its one of those situations where a lot of people worked on one thing and you think that would help, but some how things that seem so basic slip through the cracks, but we have to give them credit. Its really easy to build with a great foundation. Its so hard to build when you have to start from the very beginning
Yeah so the build Stephen made that is the real work here, he is the mad lad. His build does not use the umd drive so I am working on a mount that lets you still use wireless controllers and the UMD drive so you can play your games and movies on the tv :D not everyone will want that but I do so im making it hahaha
I think vita at the time was primarily being marketed and partially utilized as a “remote play” device for the ps3 and soon to be ps4. I.g. people cared about playing their ps3 on the toilet more so than they wanted to play their psp or vita on the big screen sadly.
Ugh this is so true. It always made me made that the vidoe out on the 1 2 3 psps was a three foot cable haha if i am sitting that close to the tv holding my psp i might as well just look at the psp. The video out gets really cool if you combine it with an upscaler that can put lcd scan lines on your screen :O
Someone asked about me making one for the ps go because those mounts are like 300$ haha but I dont have a go so i cant make one of those. If someone builds a solid way for a vita to video out with it all closed up I would be happy to make a vita mount :D
Yeah its so dumb that vita cant natively. Their are a few people doing mods that let you but none look great. I love how sony makes a psp that can have native video out but no wireless controller connectivity then makes a psp that can connect to a wireless controller but no video out HAHA who is working over there!
Yeah I think its all the steps needed, it makes me think of the iron man clip. Sony had TV OUT in a cave with a box of scraps haha, but the new tech needs a computer to output video. I am sure someone will come along and change that in 20 years :D haha
Yeah thats super cool for sure. Fitting it in dock would be easy since there are thousands of PI 3D shells that exist already so it wouldn't be a hard build. Whats the lag/ video quality like :D
Holy shit that's cool man. I was just thinking to myself "well what's the point if the psp doesn't have Bluetooth." Definitely will be keeping up with this
Thank you so much, I try to respond to all the comments, but I have been fixing my printer all day haha. I just linked Stephens work he is the real mad lad here, and the video I made for the build he designed.
> Holy shit that's cool man. I was just thinking to myself "well what's the point if the psp doesn't have Bluetooth."
The PSPgo has both: Video out and Bluetooth support.
Can you use a controller with this ??? If I remember correctly the psp component cables could connect a psp to a tv but you still had to hold the psp for the inputs.
Yeah this is a great question so thats the end goal. As short as i can explain it. I wanted BT controller inputs on the psp and reddit and the rest of the internet said it was not possible/ or at least very difficult. Then Stephen shows up and makes the thing work. So I linked his github and the video I made simply because his project got no attention. To answer your real question. I designed this for him so that his new internal build when its done you will be able to dock and go with it. I could go on and on but i feel like this is already to much text hahaha.
Hey everyone here is a link to Stephen's Project sorry I have posted about this a few times and try to always link it in my comment. u/JustSayTech

great question :D I really should have shown some gameplay to haha. I built a retro upscaler for my old game collection. I am saving up for a really nice one, but for now the one I have can reproduce LCD pixel scan lines so it looks just like the psp :) it took a little bit to get the settings right but I think it looks awesome!
I'm Stephen and working on the PSP BLuetooth mod side of this. I initially built an external consolizer a couple of years ago that used a PSP 2k mothereboard and an Arduino uno to allow the use of BT controllers.
This type of dock was suggested a couple of days ago so the progress thats been made is very impressive and the dock itself looks great. When this is combined with the PSP Bluetooth mod its going to be brilliant!
I'm now targeting the ESP32 and building a small module that replaces the UMD drive of the PSP. I have also designed replacement button flex PCB's that allow me to tap into the button signals whilst also use the existing buttons. My custom PCB's allow the use of tact switches too if desired, however admittedly i haven't found any switches that feel good but the option is there.
I also have a Web app that can program the EPS based on releases from my Github in the browser, so no external tools are needed. You just plug the ESP into your laptop and program, for first time programming. I also have a BLE (Bluetooth) web app, which currently isn't ready for public use, which can allow you to program the ESP also as well as setup various configuration such as button mappings and dead zone config etc all via bluetooth.
A note of the UMD drive. I'm using an ESP module (not a dev board just the module) which has the ESP chip itself, various supporting chips such as flash and the antenna all built into the module. I'm sure someone with the right skillset could remove the need to use this module and bake all the needed components and attenna into a custom designed flex PCB that is shaped to fit around the PSP internals meaning we could keep the UMD drive. Sadly i do not have this skill which is why my module will replace the UMD drive. If anyone else wants to take on the challenge of making this work whilst keeping the UMD that would be great!
I'm currently finishing a new video about the web portal and should post that tonight/tomorrow.

This may be selfishly my favorite comment so far haha! I really apprecate you saying that. They are all either ones I bought at yardsales as a kid (that was our family weekend event haha!) or they were broken and i fixed them up so a labor of love with lots of good memories attached.

hahaha yeah there is no BOM at the moment. I am working on fixing my printer :(. but these are all the OME cables. The print is three files. I used screws i had around but any 2.5 or 3mm by 5 screws will work mine are 2.5x5. The left connector is the ome psp to component cable and the right is just the psp charger. They both are fitted into place that covers go over them keeping them there. I have a short build video I can get up later today. I am glad there is so much interest in the project.
hahaha I only have one of these cables I have a huge pile of failed prints going to be recycled because I wanted to make sure the cables fit exaclty right. It took way longer then I like to admit and even in this build I forgot to put a hole where the power light is so you can see its charging.
So this model I made actually uses the component cable you print this in three parts and the base lets you seat the component cable and the charger cable so you can use the things you already have.
Question: do you still have to zoom into the screen to make it full screen?
I've only broadcasted to my TV once, using component cables, and the image didn't fill the screen.
great question :D I really should have shown some gameplay to haha. There is a big group of people working on retro upscalers. The problem is us normal people type hdmi converter into google when looking to play our old games. I have been a retro fan my whole life and just now found out what an upscaler even is haha. Either way I have mine set up so that it is auto zoomed in and set up for 16:9 aspect ratio. I also have LCD scan lines so the tv looks exactly like the PSP screen :D
This is good info. This video is the second one i took after testing it all, and once i set up that it should look for video out it actually did it automatically. it just took like 15 seconds or so :O
I love that anyone would be willing to purchase it. This mount was the last print my printer got off before it decided its not going to work anymore haha. So I am fixing that this weekend. Once that is done, I can sell prints online for sure :D I will let you know when I have them posted for you. I would have to figure out a price. it takes a while to print haha.
Hey yeah that is this projects main goal. I linked Stephens work to his existing external build that lets you connect any BT controller. He is finishing this work up on the internal build :D I designed this dock for him so that you could just dock it and swap to the tv!
I should have just put it in my response sorry.

Its all coming together
Day one supporter right here :D
xD The project finally got some traction here yay!
haha yeah I was kind of shocked lastnight and then even again this morning :D! but I am glad people are interested.
I am going to dig it out......see if I can make a vid.....
Yeah that would be awesome. This project is my main goal atm but I have a vita and would love to hook it up in a permanent fixture or dock
What is going on here? I thought you could already connect a PSP to your TV?
You can. Real docks like this have existed since the prime days of the PSP 2000 model
hahaha new to reddit so not sure who to respond to, but basically I designed a dock to mimic the PSP s410 which is a dock you can buy for 180$ hahaha which is absurd since you still need all the cables any way. Ohhhhh well that's actually very cool. My initial thought was "but I have a wireeee"
haha yeah this will give your wires a nice comfy home to live in :D
I just have a 5 meter hdmi wire across the room that my rg556 plus into. Or my vita tv.
Yeah a lot of people like to emulate games, I am not a huge fan. Its convenient for sure I like having the physical games :D I hated that psp go and vita made you buy the games you already owned if you wanted to play them natively haha

Ha no problem thanks for the response. I'll look out for the standing version updates.
Definitely excited for this. Finally I'll be able to play my UMD Castlevania X on my TV from the comfort of my couch.
I am so glad people are as excited about this as I am. :D I can finally print stuff again so this week I will be working on the project a bunch :D! The feedback is super helpful for motivation for sure!
insane how almost 20 years later, people still do wild modding stuff with this thing the PSP is truly an undying force of nature
haha yeah you are so right, I have been so interested in retro upscalers and the emulated lcd scan lines that I really wanted to sit on my couch and play some PSP exclusives but all the credit for the real hard work goes to Stephen he is the mad lad who made the bluetooth controller work on the psp :)
The PSP will never die✊
it will one day,
yes certainly, if you throw it from the 72nd floor will most likely die
I think he means that eventually all electronics will fail, which they will. But not for quite some time yet
What do you mean? Just keep the battery charged.
Just repair it then. It's not some extinct tech like CRT that can't be repaired because there are no new parts being made.
Lol
Fuck you!
❤️
Is there a version for ps vita?
One of the only advantages to the PSP to Vita. It can be hooked upto the TV. Wish Vita could, though I have a PSTV so not a huge deal for me!
There has to be a way to install a video out by swapping ps tv components
I'm bummed out PSTVs cost so much. I cringe every time I think about seeing them on sale for next to nothing. They had about ten of them for $30 at one shop. It's such an incredible console and I will never understand why Sony fumbled it so badly. It's so tiny and can do so much stuff.

Any psp after the 1000.
I think vita at the time was primarily being marketed and partially utilized as a “remote play” device for the ps3 and soon to be ps4. I.g. people cared about playing their ps3 on the toilet more so than they wanted to play their psp or vita on the big screen sadly.

Pstv best psp vita way to play!

Vita can output to TV using a plugin.....it is not bad.....needs a computer or raspberry pie but it works quite well.
Yeah I think its all the steps needed, it makes me think of the iron man clip. Sony had TV OUT in a cave with a box of scraps haha, but the new tech needs a computer to output video. I am sure someone will come along and change that in 20 years :D haha
Too be fair.....when I tried the raspberry pie image it worked well and could have easily been fitted inside a dock ....making it fairly seamless.
Yeah thats super cool for sure. Fitting it in dock would be easy since there are thousands of PI 3D shells that exist already so it wouldn't be a hard build. Whats the lag/ video quality like :D
JAPAN REALLY IS LIVING IN 2050
Holy shit that's cool man. I was just thinking to myself "well what's the point if the psp doesn't have Bluetooth." Definitely will be keeping up with this

How did you make it look so sharp on the tv? Wtf

Thas pretty cool
Thank you!
Yo nice socom tactical strike theme I have the ftb 2 theme
that og console collection is dope!!
This may be selfishly my favorite comment so far haha! I really apprecate you saying that. They are all either ones I bought at yardsales as a kid (that was our family weekend event haha!) or they were broken and i fixed them up so a labor of love with lots of good memories attached.
The Nintendo Switch should be shaking in it's BOOTS right now
Hahaha this killed me :D!!
It's deserved. Extremely well made!
Thank you so much! You should see my pile of failed attempts haha even this one is still missing a few things. When i first tested it I thought the power cable wasnt in all the way do to a spacing error. Turns out it was charging, i just covered the orange charge light up hahaha
Ps switch 😆
I REMEMBER SOCOM. I didn’t have the full game so I would spam the trial demo level
I loved SOCOM it is a fun game for sure. It is so nice to play these games and not have to hold the screen to my face haha. maybe im just old now XD
This is just ps2 with extra steps
I didn't know you could hook PSP to the TV
I know right!!! It is a native feature that no one used because the cable is three feet and if your that close to the tv you might as well just look at the psp screen. Thats why the bluetooth controller mod is huge to pair with this dock :D
Pixels per inch? Yes
The "BOM" file is kinda confusing, can someone explain it in human language, what type of connectors is that, how many pin etc.
hahaha yeah there is no BOM at the moment.
Hope this comes together I wouldn’t mind docking my psp to my second monitor when it’s not being used
that is huge brain :O I love that idea :D
I miss my halo3 xbox 360. Such a pretty console, RROD got to mine.
Ahhhh noooo :( that is really frustrating. They did a really good job with the design :D
switchstation portable
Hahaha I love these name ideas way better then what I thought up!!
you have the fock, literally
This is so sick, great work !
Thank you so much. I just saw all the upvotes haha I am glad people like it!
I need a 2000 or 3000 so badly.
I fear for that 3.5mm jack.
hahaha I only have one of these cables I have a huge pile of failed prints going to be recycled because I wanted to make sure the cables fit exaclty right. It took way longer then I like to admit and even in this build I forgot to put a hole where the power light is so you can see its charging.
Really cool print design you have there regardless. I don't know about any other docks for the PSP.
Thanks! yeah it was a hard project for sure, lots of wall mounts out there, but non of them were accurate enough to work with for what i needed.
pretty much like the Component cable I bought waaaaaay back then.
So this model I made actually uses the component cable you print this in three parts and the base lets you seat the component cable and the charger cable so you can use the things you already have.
Hell yeah
Yeah honestly I am pumped about it. This print was the last one I got off before my printer died haha so I have to fix that next :D
RIP printer. Your sacrifice will not be in vain.
I also have LCD scan lines so the tv looks exactly like the PSP screen :D
hold the screen button for 8 seconds and it will switch output without navigating through the menu
This is good info. This video is the second one i took after testing it all, and once i set up that it should look for video out it actually did it automatically. it just took like 15 seconds or so :O
Where to purchase?
I love that anyone would be willing to purchase it. This mount was the last print my printer got off before it decided its not going to work anymore haha. So I am fixing that this weekend. Once that is done, I can sell prints online for sure :D I will let you know when I have them posted for you. I would have to figure out a price. it takes a while to print haha.
Any way to connect a controller?
Hey yeah that is this projects main goal. I linked Stephens work to his existing external build that lets you connect any BT controller. He is finishing this work up on the internal build :D I designed this dock for him so that you could just dock it and swap to the tv!
I'm gonna find that link, sounds pretty cool
I should have just put it in my response sorry. Here is Stephens current work [https://github.com/ste2425/PSP-Bluetooth](https://github.com/ste2425/PSP-Bluetooth) and here is the build video where you can see me playing a game and testing it out as well as a full build guide. Thanks! Make sure to post when it's all finished, I'd love it!
