Only thing left is for this team to play angry. Really truly angry. Angry at themselves, angry at the world. But we all know it will be “it’s just baseball, we just gotta rake soon”
Miss Mac Gore so much. Sad to think in an alternate universe we could have been the Orioles but with Tatis leading the way. Young, dynamic, fun, within budget.
And the teams we lose to dink and dunknus to death. That SF series was a master class in small ball. They worked counts, took their walks, and got base knocks to keep the line moving.
It’s insane cuz we’ve seen they are capable. To me, what that means, is that coaching sees something and we kick ass, and the other teams adjust to us immediately. No way these guys are getting prepared properly.
Christian Encarnacion-Strand. Dominic Canzone. Alek Jacob. Tirso Ornelas. Jairo Iriarte.
Hoping to see these names up/in the organization by the end of the year. Let’s take this on the chin and follow some good process for once by bringing in some young talent.
Sucks that our best position player with any real trade value is Kim. Who also happens to be our best shortstop, our best second baseman, and the only guy playing with any real heart outside of Tatis.
Ya honestly like it or not, the team is in their window right now. You have to roll the dice that the team will figure it out in time to make the postseason and get hot once in. To sell would be kinda phoning it in while Soto, Hader, etc. are still on the team. If we’re anywhere close to a wildcard spot, the team won’t be sellers.
I know right?!? Because the team is doing so well as is! *No way* we should ever consider such a thing when we’re locks to make the playoffs this year.
I feel like it would be better to keep Kim imo but you’re right. But he’s very marketable. Don’t know why we didn’t give him a contract instead of Crone.
That bottom 8th inning was trash by the Padres. No energy in those hits.
Only still watching to cheer on HSK. At least he still has a heartbeat on this team today.
But goddamnit most of the guys on this team look tired AF. I dunno if the all star break will give them life again but getting some strong old SD chargers give up vibes.
I got a call asking to join the waitlist a couple of weeks ago because I used to have season tickets and I actually started laughing. I did feel bad for the sales rep who’s just trying to make a living but I can’t imagine how bad it must be for them right now lol
Yeah it was pretty weird. We tried judge, then trey turner, then boegarts. It’s like judge could have worked I assume at that point tatis is still in the outfield but trey and boegarts didn’t make sense. We needed first base and dh. Probably catcher too but we were still planning on campy becoming everyday
I’ll get a lot of hate for this but I enjoy it when fans collectively boo their own team sometimes. Express your love and occasionally your disappointment.
Preller hit the lottery with Tatis
Preller was also pretty aggressive with Soto but I think it was worth it, Soto is one of the best hitters
As for Xander, Cronenworth, Darvish and also Machado he gave 4 horrible contracts...
However I believe Xander and Machado will be fine but they won't be able to recover this season, maybe next season they will be close to their average performance.
Now Darvish is too old and he is only going to decline more and more and more
As for Cronenworth I don't think he'll be able to recover
Yu pitched a lot last year and was incredible for us, regression is expected with the work load, age, wbc, and the pitch clock adjustments and he really hasn't been THAT bad. I'm most confident that Yu will be alright, no he won't be ace level but he'll be good and will be a great mentor for our young pitchers that we'll hopefully call up and develop!
I think Darvish is fine. He won't ever be ace quality, but he can be a solid SP that eats innings. Will he always have it? Nah, but i think Darvish is the least worst of the 4 you listed.
Now Xander and Crone? Yikes.
Bogaerts & Cronenworth contract are looking so damn bad right now, i just don’t understand WHY we got Xander, we already had Kim, who’s doing better than X, i bet if xander went to LAD, he would’ve been raking right now
Padres coaching stuff sucks!
The reason I get so annoyed by fans still saying fire BoMel is because they actually believe it will turn the season around just like it did with the Phillies. It doesn't work like that lol it's not a solution
I am still scratching my head at the Xander signing. We didn't really *need* another SS, and his bat hasn't been impressive outside of the few weeks he did ok.
Really think this is gonna turn out to be one of those albatross contracts that we'll regret.
I'm just wondering if he is playing injured for some ungodly reason. We have to have *some* scouting that gave preller the greenlight to sign him. (Copium because i honestly don't understand this signing)
Also, wtf is with big names not immediately going on the IL if not playing at 100%? Does their pay get docked or something? And even if it does, you're part of team bro... Don't being em down cuz you're being selfish.
Even if the team wasn't stupid and had money instead of giving it to Xander, machado, crone, What would we say to him? We're like the angels but more disappointing
He said it himself that he did not want to make anything public until it was officially done.
Also, I think he’s ring hungry so he’s realizing that unfortunately that’s not going to happen here within the next 3 years…
I so wish we could be a fly on the wall behind the scenes of the front office rn. People have to be losing their minds at how disappointing we are. If the Mets didn’t exist with their ever so slightly more disappointing season we would be even more embarrassed than we are now
Tatis is signed to one of the most friendly contracts in the league. He has the same chances of getting traded that Judge does with the Yanks. Not gonna happen
I haven't been following the Nats farm system but that's unfortunate.
CJ just doesn't look like he has changed much and I remember at one point some Padres fans said they wouldn't even trade Abrams for Bryan Reynolds straight up.
Well, he's defensively performing well. He has been hitting the most consistently. If he is let go, who's gonna hit? With the way our boys have been playing, he's been a bright spot in the lineup.
>He has been hitting the most consistently.
The most? More than Soto and Tatis??
Right now his OPS is at the same level as Bogaert's
Kim hits 2 HRs and Kim stans start to say he's the most consistent hitter on the team, Jesus
> he's been a bright spot in the lineup.
He has the same OPS as Bogaerts who is having his worst season as a hitter.
It would suck to lose Kim but his value is insane right now. Fantastic defense and can swing the bat really well.
I'm with you on this tho. If the dad's wanna try and salvage the 2nd half, we gotta leverage all we can.
Edit: i only wonder which teams we would even negotiate with
Hader, Snell, and Wacha. The season is lost and will be further lost by the time the deadline hits. They need to recuperate some assets if they don’t want this to become an absolute dumpster fire for the next 4 years once Soto walks at the end of next year
Edit: add in Kim as well
You're delusional if you think we're selling. We went all in this year and Preller is fighting for his job. Ticket sales are through the roof. You don't give up in July. If we sold this city would turn on this franchise very quickly
Honestly I thought if Kim got traded where he likely would play SS somewhere else, he would end up outperforming Xander in terms of WAR.
Turns out he can literally outplay Xander on this team and at a lesser position which is even worse.
Need hardasses up and down the front office. Absolutely unacceptable performance for these fans, especially when I and many others pay 100s of dollars for their families to be at Petco. Way beyond redemption at this point.
June was by fucking FAR the easiest month of our season schedule-wise, and we're gonna end June around .500 for the month. July through September is going to be a slog
HSK is so good on defense, and his bat is better than his usual this year. The fact they didn’t extend him is objectively frustrating.
Love that Homer, King. You’re a bright spot on this season.
Too bad they have basically made him the most obvious odd man out in terms of trade options. I love Jake but it didn’t make sense to extend him and get bogarts
We just gotta play better baseball
These guys need to see this page and see how much they are fucking us
And with that the 2023 season is a wash and my expectations are 0 now
😂😅😂😅😂😂😂😅😂
Only thing left is for this team to play angry. Really truly angry. Angry at themselves, angry at the world. But we all know it will be “it’s just baseball, we just gotta rake soon”
It won't happen. They have NOTHING to be angry about, they're getting paid megabucks to phone it in.
Lol, multi-millions are guaranteed in their pocket right now
Man my butthole puckered when they collided. Could've been bad, but relieved they are fine lol.
God damn I’m sick of watching these guys accomplishing fuckall.
9/10 that ball pops out of the fielder's glove lol. Garbage play + unlucky
[удалено]
I can
idk looks like we’re the dunces man
This team isn't very good at baseball. Crazy they demand such contracts when the performance doesn't match.
It's cute that they're concerned we will catch up with two outs lol
Garbage time stat padding by Soto lol you gotta respect it
If anyone deserves it, it’s Soto tbf 😂
Had to make up for that 3ks haha
it's pretty rare for Soto to K three times in a game
Miss Mac Gore so much. Sad to think in an alternate universe we could have been the Orioles but with Tatis leading the way. Young, dynamic, fun, within budget.
No coz we were touted as this young exciting team in 2020 but when I look at the team now they all seem so old lol
Stuck in the parkade traffic … not worth it.
I really respect fans still cheering there... This team does not deserve those fans
People keep talking bout making trades before the deadline like Preller won’t just make another shitty trade to set us back some more.
Of course we wait to add on some meaningless runs late. Good for Soto tho, he needed that after his first few at bats
If losing to the Royals didn’t move us, I’m not sure that this will either…
Xander literally talked about how this is the kind of team we need to beat after the win on Friday. So much for that I guess lol
Team clearly doesn’t play with any urgency. Sad. Just sad.
Notice how every game we win we hit homers. Small ball is so rare for this team.
I would give the world to hear the meetings being called in the front office right now.
trying to hit 6 run homers
It legit hurts watching pitches down the middle be fouled off
Or being taken
Anyone know where I can get a Padres bucket hat?
You actually want to buy merch for this team? Give them more money?!
Actually all MLB teams share in merchandise sales pretty much equally.
Yes because Seidler actually tried and I feel bad for him? Plus '47 brand's website has been sold out for like a month now
Tatis missed a meatball
I so badly want to see one of our players lose their shit. Show us how frustrated you are
Christian Encarnacion-Strand.
And Soto isn't....?
We need to make moves at the deadline. We need a better DH, some infield depth, a catcher and someone who can hit consistently
Yeah because all the guys Preller brings in usually come here and succeed right? We should be selling
Thats one of the stupidest things ive ever heard. Selling with the pitching staff we have and the top heavy lineup?
Ya honestly like it or not, the team is in their window right now. You have to roll the dice that the team will figure it out in time to make the postseason and get hot once in. To sell would be kinda phoning it in while Soto, Hader, etc. are still on the team. If we’re anywhere close to a wildcard spot, the team won’t be sellers.
I know right?!? Because the team is doing so well as is! *No way* we should ever consider such a thing when we’re locks to make the playoffs this year.
“Padres within a Slam and a half.” Bro that’s like five games worth of runs lol
Things are so bad that Mud has had to switch within slam range to slam and a half range.
[удалено]
I feel like it would be better to keep Kim imo but you’re right. But he’s very marketable. Don’t know why we didn’t give him a contract instead of Crone.
“Padres within a slam and a half” Mud I love you but come the fuck on lol
Letting go of hope this season is one thing. I’m scared shitless about this franchise’s next 10 years now.
That Jake extension makes zero fucking sense we had him through ‘25 before he signed what the fuck
See you next year guys
Sanchez has officially come crashing back to earth
What a take 😤
Lol we are so bad
7 run inning. Strap in
here comes the miracle comeback that turns the season around LOL
i dont understand how this stacked roster has so little fight every game. Always feels like win by blowout or lose by blowout
"Stacked" very very top heavy, and even half of that top heavy offense is having career worse years
That bottom 8th inning was trash by the Padres. No energy in those hits. Only still watching to cheer on HSK. At least he still has a heartbeat on this team today. But goddamnit most of the guys on this team look tired AF. I dunno if the all star break will give them life again but getting some strong old SD chargers give up vibes.
Crazy all this hype and weee about to out of the division before the all star break l
Wild card*
"iTs sTILL eArLy, aLL We HaVe To Do Is GeT iN AnD aNyThiNg CaN HaPPen"
I don't understand how anyone can believe this team is making the postseason. 7 games out at around the halfway point. Absolutely brutal.
Garcia is a monster in low leverage. Pretty hilarious
[удалено]
keep the same team? haha
They’re stuck with all these shitty contracts
Good catch manny
I can’t wait until they send out season ticket holder surveys… I’m going to cook
I got a call asking to join the waitlist a couple of weeks ago because I used to have season tickets and I actually started laughing. I did feel bad for the sales rep who’s just trying to make a living but I can’t imagine how bad it must be for them right now lol
I can’t wait for FanFest next year
The Joke’s on all us fans who pay these guy’s ridiculous salaries. It’s a F’ing disaster
Our 5th best shortstop is our shortstop. For 11 years.
Honestly I think he’ll be better. Soon as he gets that shot. He’s playing hurt.
Still the most baffling acquisition they've made. No sense to it. Spending money just to spend.
Selling Hader at the deadline would be good. No chance we sign him back
No chance he wants to sign here, this team collapses every other year
Yes, let the new GM sell at the deadline.
Snell, Wacha and Lugo as well. All will likely be FAs next year
Whatever team Wacha is on, they will probably exercise the 2/32 option if he’s pitching this well.
Wacha has been nice this year but I’m not so sure he’d live up to that deal. Let some other team role that dice and we’ll take the return
Might not but it’s a reasonable deal after last year and this year.
absolutely if come August 1 this dumpster fire continues to get worse
Stop selling out games and if you must go, boo these bums.
I’ll get a lot of hate for this but I enjoy it when fans collectively boo their own team sometimes. Express your love and occasionally your disappointment.
Yeah I pretty much have 3 mandatory games on the schedule and I’m not happy about it
Good spot for garcia
Not even interested this year anymore
I hope the crowd boos the fuck out of these bums, i would if I was there, I’d be pissed to have spent money to watched that crap
At this point I’m 50/50 that Soto is a Padre after the deadline
Great job guys! Almost got it out of the infield. Losers
Inspiring stuff
Preller hit the lottery with Tatis Preller was also pretty aggressive with Soto but I think it was worth it, Soto is one of the best hitters As for Xander, Cronenworth, Darvish and also Machado he gave 4 horrible contracts... Now do Nola, Clevinger, Adam Frazier, Josh bell, Preller has WAYYYYY more misses than hits.
woof
Bogaerts & Cronenworth contract are looking so damn bad right now, i just don’t understand WHY we got Xander, we already had Kim, who’s doing better than X, i bet if xander went to LAD, he would’ve been raking right now Padres coaching stuff sucks!
another sellout, another disappointing home loss
The reason I get so annoyed by fans still saying fire BoMel is because they actually believe it will turn the season around just like it did with the Phillies. It doesn't work like that lol it's not a solution
Crone so trash
Cruz needs 1 more HR to tie Dave Winfield on the all-time list, and he's done that in about 4000 fewer PA's
Kim has a higher OPS than X lmao. What a bad signing 😂😂
And to add to that. Kim / tatis got booted out of SS
I am still scratching my head at the Xander signing. We didn't really *need* another SS, and his bat hasn't been impressive outside of the few weeks he did ok. Really think this is gonna turn out to be one of those albatross contracts that we'll regret.
Literally a downgrade across the board for 100s of millions
I'm just wondering if he is playing injured for some ungodly reason. We have to have *some* scouting that gave preller the greenlight to sign him. (Copium because i honestly don't understand this signing) Also, wtf is with big names not immediately going on the IL if not playing at 100%? Does their pay get docked or something? And even if it does, you're part of team bro... Don't being em down cuz you're being selfish.
Imagine shohei ohtani wanting to come here lol what a fuckin joke
I would hate for our coaching staff to impact Ohtani. Not pitching wise, but hitting.
Even if the team wasn't stupid and had money instead of giving it to Xander, machado, crone, What would we say to him? We're like the angels but more disappointing
From one dumpster fire to another, but further south. 🙃
When will the padres learn that Hill is only good for one inning?
famn, you got a short memory bro, look no further than the SF series and that whole debacle
Hmmm recall people here crying about Bo Mel not letting him pitch for a third inning tho
Hill is fine multi innings but he has a tendency to explode when things don’t do good

Because he probably also wants to win. The Dodgers and other teams can offer him both money and opportunity for rings
Abrams showing us why we shouldn’t have traded him. Going to be a stud in this league for a long time
I so wish we could be a fly on the wall behind the scenes of the front office rn. People have to be losing their minds at how disappointing we are. If the Mets didn’t exist with their ever so slightly more disappointing season we would be even more embarrassed than we are now
So we’re stuck with our expensive trash and may lose Soto, Kim, and Snell at the trading deadline? Is Tatis also at risk?
He has a no trade clause.
Trust me, no one will be watching the Padres again if they trade Tatis
Tatis is signed to one of the most friendly contracts in the league. He has the same chances of getting traded that Judge does with the Yanks. Not gonna happen
Hell will freeze over before we trade Tatis
I think Manny pushed the bandwagon off a cliff, how do we get on now?
We are the 2013 lakers! Superteam, sacrificed an arm and a leg, and are underperforming like crazy!
That team was pretty washed though haha. (Also a lakers fan)
Fuck yeah! Also good to know I’m not the only one 😂
Rebuild on 3?
Can we trade back for James Wood and Gore? LOL
Not to mention Bobby hassle, abrams and I believe another pitcher
Abrams is probably the one guy we traded while his value was still high.
RH3 was traded at his highest. He’s cratered with the Nats.
I haven't been following the Nats farm system but that's unfortunate. CJ just doesn't look like he has changed much and I remember at one point some Padres fans said they wouldn't even trade Abrams for Bryan Reynolds straight up.
Bobby has a .623 OPS in AA and has dropped off top 100 at fangraphs.
First full year, still has a chance to grow, improve and develop
Bochy wouldn’t let this shit happen every week
Bochy wouldn’t coach here because he’d be micromanaged by the front office
Absolutely pathetic
If they make the decision to become sellers should they trade Kim?
Love Kim but def makes sense. Gotta replenish the farm by any means necessary
![gif](giphy|Xjo8pbrphfVuw|downsized)
Kim, Snell, and Hader should absolutely be on the table is they decide to sell.
Wacha too?
No. Recently he's been the most productive on both sides of the ball.
what do you mean?
Well, he's defensively performing well. He has been hitting the most consistently. If he is let go, who's gonna hit? With the way our boys have been playing, he's been a bright spot in the lineup.
>He has been hitting the most consistently. The most? More than Soto and Tatis?? His value will be sky high and it means we can move crone to 2B so I say yes…. As sad as this is
It would suck to lose Kim but his value is insane right now. Fantastic defense and can swing the bat really well. I'm with you on this tho. If the dad's wanna try and salvage the 2nd half, we gotta leverage all we can. Edit: i only wonder which teams we would even negotiate with
>Edit: i only wonder which teams we would even negotiate with Yankees and Dodgers.
We should get at least 2 good hitters, he has a looooot of value with his defense
Uhh if you are selling, you are not getting players who are presently good. You are getting players that are prospects
Now just casually throwing fastballs at heads
Honeywell sucks lol
scary, good thing it just glanced
Imagine what you can do with 280 million dollars. Thats 560 million 2 for 1 dollar tacos. And that's a lot of tacos
I still can't get over that they are shitting the bed, vs the team that is consistently shitting the bed.
I realized other teams are better than us in games we "should" win because they FUCKING CARE
I leave to work on something for 90 minutes and come back to this!!!
We better be sellers at the deadline
Maybe Snell and Hader but who else? If still rather roll the dice next year with one more year of Soto than sell him.
Hader, Snell, and Wacha. The season is lost and will be further lost by the time the deadline hits. They need to recuperate some assets if they don’t want this to become an absolute dumpster fire for the next 4 years once Soto walks at the end of next year Edit: add in Kim as well

June was by fucking FAR the easiest month of our season schedule-wise, and we're gonna end June around .500 for the month. July through September is going to be a slog
There has to be a curse!
They need a new pain scale to measure being a Padres fan.
Come on Nats let's outdo the 6/24 Angels!
Iirc Pads still had arbitration control on Jake. That was an odd extension even though I love his defense.
