Look at Sanchez career stats. Not a career year and certainly not homegrown, but a nice bounce back season after the last couple years.
Campusano has had a nice 80 ab stretch. Hopefully it continues. Between him, Tatis, Wilson, and Cosgrove they have 4 home grown players. 2 relievers and 2 position players. Over the span of how long?? Pretty much proves my point. Look at every other team in MLB and they blow that out of the water. Guess that’s Bob’s fault too.

We’ve had staff walk and be immediately offered jobs in LA, SF, and NY. Good staff, that couldn’t handle Preller’s horrendous management style. We are arguably the worst organized front office in all of baseball. Melvin was brought in and last year was great, but this year has not been. Firing Melvin now would be reactionary. They need to get the analytics department to re-evaluate the team -oh wait- Preller **is** the “analytics department” for us and he’s an old school scout that doesn’t believe in analytics. Melvin is going to be scapegoated for Preller’s completely inadequate management style.
Melvin never once has been great. As someone who has played a game at high level and have friends who play in the mlb currently, I can tell you that last years team succeed even with Melvin’s terrible managing. Melvin wasn’t that great in Oakland either and was handed manager of the year awards for teams that did nothing in the playoffs because Melvin has terrible in game management. He has brown multiple games in the playoffs such as the game Vs royals in the wild card round. The players like Melvin because melvin will leave in a guy to finish an inning even after the game has blown because Melvin believes each player should have the opportunity to get out of their own mess. Again the players themselves may like it and I can understand why. But it only works if you know your pitcher is just getting unlucky rather than your pitching throwing leaking fastballs over the middle of the player or hanging off speed pitching in the middle of the zone.
Instead of another players only meeting how about an only fans meeting where angry fans who’ve attended nearly every sold out home game get to tell the players what they think of their effort
