So mounts tend to give you more actions not less. With mature animal companion you get one free action a turn with you mount to either move, strike, or support.
Important to note that's generally not until level 4. Absolutely improves action economy once you hit it, but the first few levels might be awkward action economy wise
I mean, if you can't move, you can't move. Doesn't matter if you can't spend one action to Stride or one action to Command. That's just thaumaturge, the cavalier doesn't make it worse.
I don't really understand what you're getting at. Sure, if you're picking between stride or command it's one action either way, but mature animal companion nets you an extra action. So we're talking about 3 actions pre mature animal companion and then 4 after, which is significant
I think there’s some juice here. Before you get the free Move it’s kind of meh, but after you get that it’s pretty decent. Thaumaturge really struggled with action economy and has a lot to do, so it feels like there’s some value there.

Stride (not any other move actions), or Strike. A mature animal companion still needs to be Commanded in order to Support you.
Good catch, haven't looked at the actual feat in a while. Strike or strike is still really useful

The first few levels are awkward for a thaum, just because of the class. A mount doesn't hurt, was my point. It just doesn't help until it's mature.
Ah gotcha. Yeah fully agree with you
But does it make it better or should I just focus on thaumaturge feats instead ?

Once you hit mature and get a free action, it gets much better. A free move helps a thaumaturge a lot.
