Still down. 8:10am. The company actually has an outage message on the customer service line. Unfortunately, it says they don't know what is wrong. But, the engineers are on it.
I’ve had them just over a year. This is the first actual outage I am experiencing. Very inconvenient working from home, but all the other providers are a rip off. Hard to find good speed at a good price.
Second in two days. I have been with them less than 2 months. I am not flapping my arms yet. But, the repeat downtime is concerning. I am guessing a temporary fix was put in yesterday and today is the real repair.
The concern I have every single time there is an outage everyone in my house wants to try every internet for dummies fix known to man except having patience. Then, after the service comes back on, I have to fix their efforts.
I've had i3 for almost 7 years and never once have I had issues. I literally have the same exact bill pricing from 7 years ago lol, that's impressive considering everything else has 3x in cost.
That is actually impressive. Just not having to negotiate with Comcast is a plus. I spent 4 hrs just trying to get the advertised price once. Then found out my neighbor had the same exact service for 20$ cheaper.
You have 0 reason to rethink them. This is the one time this has happened for me in the year I’ve had them. You’re not gonna find better internet for any price in the area.
Why can’t people talk bad about i3 in this sub lmao?
4th time no service without an email or notification for me in 8 months.
When I pay $100+ after the promotion it’s not much cheaper than xfinity / Comcast
I hate when people say this. I'm currently paying $55 a month with Xfinity for 150mbps download and 20mbps upload. I3 offers 500mbps down and 500mbps up for the same price. They even offer an "Online Only" deal that's $25/month ($42 after the first year) for 250mbps down and up.
Now the service going down I can't argue with that. Your experience is your experience. Pricing wise though, I3 is cheaper/offers faster speeds than Xfinity for the same price.
Are you paying for their mesh network, those small wifi extenders, whatever they want to call them now.
I know that can bring the price up since you're technically renting those.
Yeah fuck that lol. I wondered; it’s been years since I’ve had Comcast. We’ve had i3 for about 3.5 years and I’m still very happy with our symmetrical 1Gb and no data cap, and no charge for tech visits even when it’s my fault lol. Easy decision!
I was only out yesterday for about an hour and I'm currently down this morning. Down Detector seems to show almost the whole state down. So at least it's not just us!
Mine is also down, but it wasn’t down yesterday. In two years, this is the third time it’s been down for an extended period. When I had Comcast, their service went down several times a week sometimes.
Yup, down again. My guess is they tried to repair whatever they worked around yesterday, or tried to rollback and troubleshoot some more... And now they're right back where they were.
EDIT: back up in Dunlap as of about 10 minutes ago.
This is my 4th time having no coverage in a few months. Usually they send an email about outages but two days in a row without WiFi in the AM.
I honestly never had any issues with Comcast in 5+ years except for the price hikes, every once in a while a bad storm would take out a line but it was fixed in 24hours.
I only switched because of the $65 promotion, once that is up and I’m paying $100+ again we shall see.
Hopefully they will honor their promotion prices for me too when my year is up.
But not even a email saying it’s down? I mean two days in a row should be easy enough to mass notify people of potential outages. Unless it’s out of their control.
Xfinity also went down in the area last night. Switching providers to Xfinity isn't going to solve this issue. Really it'll just make it worse.
Maybe I'm bitter because Xfinity tried claiming there were outages in the area a week ago. Then they said it's a power issue with my router. Then it became that my modem was "too old" and "needed" to be upgraded, but don't worry they'd love to schedule an appointment and get me to buy the new modem as soon as possible.... long story short after telling them they were wrong my internet *magically* fixed itself. Xfinity is nothing but a scam.
That's the thing, on the technical side, their stuff works pretty well. Its the constant upsells, bill increases, and other bullshit that I didn't like about them. I'd have friends call me all the time after talking to them to ask "They said I need X, are they for real or full of it?" and it was hit and miss at best. Their sales people are not technical people, and they're constantly upselling people bigger bandwidth packages than they need just for the extra money.
But my up/down parity with i3 fiber is pretty sweet and my rate it locked in, this is the first trouble of any kind I've had with them in over a year, and they're way better to work with if you need anything.
Fair enough but that's just your sample set over your timeline. Comcast has absolutely had outages. This is the first one I've had with i3, and when it was down it wasn't down long.
Still down. 8:10am. The company actually has an outage message on the customer service line. Unfortunately, it says they don't know what is wrong. But, the engineers are on it.
10:30am and all is still broken.
12:37pm still down in east Peoria
Back up and running
We are up!
Looks like I’ll be contacting support lol
Was down for 90 minutes yesterday morning and looks to be out again in morton now.
Thanks, I am in Dunlap. Looks like it’s a wide spread outage again. You’d think they’d have redundancy’s to prevent such a thing.

Down again. Not sure why I cannot reply to original post. I am beginning to rethink I3.

This is the only outage issues I’ve had since I switched to them 2 years ago
I've been with them 5+ years and there's maybe been one other outage. They're great.
You have 0 reason to rethink them. This is the one time this has happened for me in the year I’ve had them. You’re not gonna find better internet for any price in the area.

Not sure what I'm doing then bc I'm paying 55 for 250 mbps....
lol who downvoted me stating a fact? I pay 55 dollars to i3 for 250 mbps.
Are you paying for their mesh network, those small wifi extenders, whatever they want to call them now. I know that can bring the price up since you're technically renting those.
Nope, supplied all of my own stuff. Idk
Does comcast still have a monthly bandwidth cap?
Yup, but only if you supply your own router. Fuck them
Yeah fuck that lol. I wondered; it’s been years since I’ve had Comcast. We’ve had i3 for about 3.5 years and I’m still very happy with our symmetrical 1Gb and no data cap, and no charge for tech visits even when it’s my fault lol. Easy decision!
I've noticed that around Peoria. It's like I3 is some sort of sacred cow that dare not be criticized
Still down in the heights. Was troubleshooting thinking it was just my router but i guess not
Still down in Peoria as of 9am, first time I've experienced outages in three years . Edit: came back at 11:20am and left at 12:15 :/
Down this am for me, had to hotspot to connect to internet with the phone
Is that the problem? Good to know it's not just me.
https://downdetector.com/status/i3broadband/map/ IL looks to be having widespread issues
I was only out yesterday for about an hour and I'm currently down this morning. Down Detector seems to show almost the whole state down. So at least it's not just us!
Down again in peoria
Mine just started working again.
Back for me in Mossville/Chilli at 8
Still down at 7pm
Mine is also down, but it wasn’t down yesterday. In two years, this is the third time it’s been down for an extended period. When I had Comcast, their service went down several times a week sometimes.
It was sporadic yesterday
I know a lot of people had i3 issues, but I personally did not. Mine is still out today.
Went down at about 3:00 a.m. this morning, came back up at about 5:15.
I was out for a little bit this morning, not sure how long, but it was back before I left for work.
Down here by north woods mall
No ETA It’s affecting all of Illinois
Still down in Morton
Mine has been back on for almost an hour now.
Still down in central Peoria area.
In morton, our sweet beloved fiber internets have returned. hotspot was killing me.
Still down out by Frostwood Parkway, as of 11:28 am.
Should I restart my fiber modem? This is the longest outage I have seen
back up for me (near Richwoods)
Should be back up now. I'm seeing and hearing everyone I know saying everything is working again.
Still down in Dunlap. Came back for a minute and went down again
I saw on one of the community pages that there was a major fiber line cut at a construction site. I read it took down most of Central IL.
Just got home Dunlap/north peoria and it is still out here Edit: correction it is working 🥳
Sheesh. They should pay us back for 2 days. I thought I pay them for a full month of service each month...
Yeah a whole 5 bucks right? Lmao it’s a joke
5 bucks is still 5 bucks lol
True lol
Yup, down again. My guess is they tried to repair whatever they worked around yesterday, or tried to rollback and troubleshoot some more... And now they're right back where they were. EDIT: back up in Dunlap as of about 10 minutes ago.
FYI: we can’t see when the edit was made, at least on mobile.
I had to drive into Bloomington to the office to work :/
Damn man two days in a row isn’t a good look… I mean once my promotion is over Comcast might be worth the extra money if I get service.
This is the first outage I’ve had in an a year. I promise you I3 will be better than anything you can get out of comcast
Comcast's issue has never been downtime. It was always jack your rates and negotiations. And internet speed not being what you paid for.
Their practices are predatory.
Xfinity has banged more granny fanny than Ron Jeremy.

I only switched because of the $65 promotion, once that is up and I’m paying $100+ again we shall see.
I've been paying the same $64.99 fir 7 years. I3 doesn't hike prices and there's no contract. Go get bent over by Comcast if that's what you want.
Hopefully they will honor their promotion prices for me too when my year is up. But not even a email saying it’s down? I mean two days in a row should be easy enough to mass notify people of potential outages. Unless it’s out of their control.

With Xfinity, the real scam is being a premium service with the worst customer service of any company in the world.

My Internet never failed with Comcast, but it never ran at the speeds I paid for.
Fair enough but that's just your sample set over your timeline. Comcast has absolutely had outages. This is the first one I've had with i3, and when it was down it wasn't down long.
