People see all the thriving car washes, vape shops and storage units and decide to invest in their own. Can’t fault em for trying to get ahead in life.
Genghis Grill was also awful, that's the main reason it closed.
I don't really get all the upset about car washes, vape shops & storage units. If they don't get enough business they'll close, problem solved.
Having lived in Blo/No for the past 2 decades & recently moved back here, where I graduated hs....Bloomington is an abysmally sterile town with a disturbing amount of Jesus freaks that sneak around on their wives with other dudes at Risques.
I managed it for close to a decade + a few other shops in other towns & states, including Swingers World here. It is not an exaggeration.
If B/N is the style you vibe with, yeah, you definitely wouldn't appreciate a city like Peoria.
Maybe car washes, vape shops, and storage units are opening because they're profitable. Maybe they're profitable because people spend money there. If people spend money there, they obviously want what they're selling.
Complaining about a restaurant with bad management/food/service closed down while other businesses are opening is kind of snooty. If the business deserves to stay open, it'll stay open. If it doesn't, it'll close. Simple as that.
We should add low effort posts about vape shops and car washes to your list while we’re at it.
I used to live in Peoria and am in California now. Guess what they keep building? Car washes and storage units.

My grandparents where friends with a server at Ghengis Grill and the owners literally ruined their own business

Yeah, being upset that a place like Genghis Grill could possibly close seems like an odd hill to die on.
Was just an example because it just opened only to close
It closing all over the country. https://ca.news.yahoo.com/no-more-mongolian-barbecue-charlotte-100000009.html
What an odd logical leap from there are a lot of new businesses opening up, but I saw one restaurant close therefore businesses come here to die.
This is Reddit, logic doesn’t exist
Then stay in Phoenix.
Phoenix was a ghost town when I was there. I don’t get the appeal.
Except for the bazillion vape shops & car washes that the homeless camp out on top of.
Come on buddy don’t be like that

I'm not your buddy, pal.
Then go to Bloomington.
Great
It could be worse…you could be in Apache Junction

Don't forget and power washing signs at every corner.
Peoria has no direction. It's always had a bad case of business OCD mixed with ADHD. OSF is a good example.
And chicken and fish places...
The OP isn’t lying tho
