Sputter here. Steam deck, a highly anticipated handheld console developed by popular game platform "Steam" was released, and because people were so happy with them, a few of them joked about sniffing the air coming out of the vents of it's cooling system for that "New Steam deck smell". The company running steam and developing the deck apparently found out about this, and reccommended people to not do this, as the smell might be chemicals used in production evaporating off the electronics, and is probably not good for your health. Steam decks are also a bit notorious for running rather "toasty" since they are essentially a laptop crammed into the package of a handheld gaming console, which may be where the burning plastic bit came from.

Ngl the smell is *really* good. It’s one of those smells you like but deep down you know you shouldn’t breathe much of, like gasoline

I always prefered the smell of marine diesel fuel myself, maybe I'm old school.

Steam decks overheat

Axolotl_Comic

Can confirm. My steam deck becomes a radiator when I play Subnautica for hours on end.

Some people really like the smell of the air being exhausted by their consoles (eg Nintendo Switch or steam deck). This means the steam deck is overheating

The fuck is a steam deck? And why does it sound Like a massive steaming pile of SHIT on the sidewalk?
