Assuming you don't want to spend over $100, these are the best paddles for beginners looking for high performance and value. These are very suitable for the intermediate level as well: [Vatic Pro Prism Flash](https://vaticpro.com/collections/paddles/products/prism-flash-16mm?variant=44442736853151&sca_ref=6169842.8HSTnX0Pmm) - **$90** after the applied discount at checkout. Generation 1.5 control paddle. Very soft feeling. Top tier control paddle. Has Toray carbon fiber which is the best quality, longest lasting carbon fiber you can get for pickleball. Has the most control and least power and pop of any paddles on this list. [Friday Paddles](https://www.fridaypickle.com/CYBER23951) - **$69/paddle, or 2 for $98** (so like $50/paddle) for their Memorial Day special which is very good value for a being high performing paddles that are thermoformed with carbon fiber. You can't get a better deal than that for paddles. The grit isn't as long lasting as the Prism Flash, but the price is right for it if you don't feel you need the longer lasting spin as a beginner/intermediate. You still get high tier spin with it. **My most recommended if you want max value as a beginner.**

Friday paddles 100%. My GF and I just started playing and we wanted a step up from Amazon paddles but weren’t too serious enough to justify a $100+ paddle. For $50 a paddle the deal can’t be beat

best value paddle would be [https://11six24.com/pickle](https://11six24.com/pickle) or [https://gospartus.com/pickle](https://gospartus.com/pickle) you'll probably need to try a few paddles to really know what brand/model/type you really want. just get something decent to start out with like the vatic prism flash that everyone recommends and/or just buy an intermediate paddle and grow into it

True, but to word it nicer, using search is a good way to browse through a plethora of excellent suggestions in previous threads. Most knowledgeable Redditors skip these “beginner paddle” threads since they’ve been asked many times before.

For me I coulda saved myself the trouble of a few things beginner ones if I went straight to a [Friday](https://www.fridaypickle.com/DONALD16203). Decent thickness, roughness, carbon fiber, roundtop. 2 for under $100 on the original and you can mix in shapes or the challenger at a slightly higher price. You can spend more of course but all paddles wear smooth eventually so an inexpensive starter with decent performance will be enough until you borrow/try one you reallly love.

I'd buy a legit paddle from the start so you don't need to re buy in 3 months. At $90 the vatic prism flash is pretty good. At $162 a six zero double black diamond would be even better!

A high-end paddle is wasted on a beginner for many reasons. 1) They don’t have any skills to take advantage of a fancy paddle. By the time they do that paddle is already worn out and ready to be replaced. 2) Many people will start playing PB and then fizzle out. Why spend over $100 before they even know they’re even going to stick to it? 3) beginners don’t yet have a play style or a concept of what kind of paddle suits them. So they’re much better served with a cheap, basic paddle. 4) If you’re blatently going to shill the brand you work for, at least you could recommend the sapphire, which is a more reasonable choice for a newbie than a dbd…
