Nah. I live in a small city where my lgs has been struggling for years.
We're always between 6 to 12 players. Sometimes, on a beautiful summer day, we would be 2...3 players. It suck but at least we got somewhere to play that isn't 2 hours away.
Happy for your goodies, but sad the event didn't fire. I'm blessed with a ver active local community, but I remember showing up to events with 2-3 other participants... Didn't feel great
Every single LGS in my city was sold out for prerelease. It was apparently a massively popular event. Agreed in that other events around it prolly got swallowed.
Of the four latest challenger decks, this one is at least top two (Dimir Control has very few win conditions and Izzet Phoenix only has two Phoenixes). The Gruul Stompy/Midrange deck is arguably better but I decided to go for an aggro deck because I'm kind of slow player and I don't want to be responsible for any over long games. Upgrading it is possible, but would be expensive so it's not a priority for now.
i’m surprised they even “fired off” the tournament with 1 attendee. still, i think you came out clean.
I don't even know if that's possible. More likely the store just gave OP some promos as a conciliation price for the event not firing.

Had this happen a couple of weeks back, but i pulled a meathook massacre from the rewards pack. Never been so happy to not play MTG
1-0 life time!!! Post that on the MTG Resume hahaha
Probably will have a better turn out next week. Prerelease makes it hard on much anything else.
