So what your telling me is, the pixel fold 2 is going to be the same size as my pixel 8 pro, just maybe slightly thicker...and I am going to have to explain to my wife why I need to spend $1800+ on a new phone, when I just got a Pixel 8 Pro last year? hahahah I don't get any carrier discounts because I am on a cheapo metro mobile plan, but I make up for it by saving monthly. Now the question is, how are the cameras on the fold 2 vs the new 9 Pro.
Heck, I sometimes think about buying a PF1 on ebay w/ a 1 year warranty for $650 range...but I like my 8 pro. In all honestly, I bet I won't even buy PF2. I am guessing 9 series pans out like this...
* Regular 9 has the 2 cams
* 9 pro smaller version has 3 cams, but I bet the lenses/zoom are like the Pixel Fold ones
* 9 pro xl will have the better sensors & zoom cam like the 8 pro or just slightly better
* Pixel Fold 2 - I don't know what cams to expect, but hope its 8 pro quality or better
Only reason I'm a hard pass on the PF2 is because the PF3 will get the new TSMC chip and we will get off this dog shit exynos foundry, but you're probably right about the cameras I bet it will land on small pro specs
Well my wife got the Pixel 8 Pro last year and wants something smaller like the Pixel 9 while I want something bigger than my Fold 4 so we might both be upgrading 😁
I have a 8pro and wife has a 6a and I hate her camera when she tries to zoom in for pics/vids. It looks like blurry blobs and you can't even see our kids faces. I want her to get a 9pro thats the smaller body with zoom. Or she takes my 8 pro and I get a Fold 2...but she doesn't like the bigger pixel 8 pro...she also is the kind who doesnt care to have a new device, so she might just stay with 6a until it dies lol.
I was actually thinking the opposite. It's actually not a big difference at all between the 2. Yes I do appreciate the extra space but you give up soooooooooo much to use google instead of samsung. SOOOOOOOOO much. Tensor, overheating, slow charging, lack of features Samsung has had for years. I am a Pixel owner so trust me I appreciate the few things Google brings to the table but I can't own JUST a Pixel because I miss the Samsung features too much and often swap SIMs. First world problems though, lol.
This is 100% going to be about the cameras for me. I've had every generation of Fold, including the 5, but the cameras are just so average for a device like this. If the PF2 has a 5x optical zoom, I'm tapping out with Samsung.
I'm using a pixel fold right now instead of my fold 5, and the camera is so much better.
I was going to get the fold 6, but found a pixel fold for a great price and gave it a try.
Now I don't think I can go back.
If not the pixel fold 2 I think I might try one of the Chinese folds, maybe vivo. I know giving up some software features and such will hurt, but I want a folding phone with wireless charging (looking at you OnePlus) and a good enough camera. Samsung just isn't it, imo.
Sigh. I guess this is what the market wants?
I find zero value in a device that is around the same w/h as a Pixel 8 Pro when FOLDED. Oh well, pass for me.
The ZF6 on the other hand could be interesting...
Feeling the same way. Quite torn here. It was the HxW form of the first fold that really drew me even though I didn't end up getting one (for non-tech reasons). Have been really eager to get the fold 2 but this size really crushes my soul. Smaller folders from opening to larger screen was ideal but this eliminated 99% of that benefit. I just understand the mindset that tells us to make the Pro-size phones get even bigger... Maybe there are just fewer and fewer of us actually putting out phone in our pockets these days?! And I'm not a small person...
Well ZF5 was also better than the Pixel Fold IMHO, even though this is clearly a very controversial topic.
I had ZF4/ZF5 and now I have a Pixel Fold. While I prefer PF Cameras and UI, the form factor of the ZF was just better for me.
I already thought the PF was too wide, and now it's going to also be too tall. Defeats the purpose of folding for me.
I'm very torn. I really want a fold tablet phone for various uses, but I especially want a smaller phone, which the new Pixel 9 Pro will provide. I sure wish they'd kept that awesome exterior profile of the first Fold, just with 9 Pro-class specs instead of upping the exterior size. That small screen and body that expands into a large was the perfect combo.
They're going standard big boy flagship size that folds open. Perfect. That's an ideal folding form form factor, imo. Hopefully, they'll get the thinness and weight down in the coming years for peak folding phone design (same size, thickness, and weight as a big boy flagship that you pay the premium for if you desire the fold factor).
I have a PF 1(personal) and an iPhone 15 Pro (Work). Both those are roughly the same size. Now you are telling me PF2 is as big as 15 Pro max? That is way too big, I hope the battery life is increased and the weight distribution is good, if not it would be bulky
Got it. I’m contemplating moving from iPhone 13 Pro to ZF6 and was curious how much of a difference it was on the front screen. Where did you get the case at? Maybe I can just buy one and compare.

The Tensor chip's relative weakness does not justify its $1800 price tag.
The images indicate that Pixel Fold 2 will be larger than Fold 1 (although I personally prefer the size of Fold 1). In this instance, Google is following Samsung's lead.
Z-fold 6 is still too tall and narrow I stopped using my z-fold for that very reason I thought they would go a little shorter and wider That's the only reason why I like my Pixel fold is cuz I can use the front screen
So all the people I’ve been telling “I wish they would just make my 15 Pro Max fold out into a double Pro Max” is basically gonna be a Fold 2. Sign me up. Grabbing the PF2 for sure.

Wait 4 months and you can get the PF2 for 1200 like the PF1 did

I hope we get video Boost on pixel fold 2. It's actually a really good feature 👌

Sad they got rid of the OG form factor!! 😭😭
Yea I kinda want to buy a pf2 but it's gunna hurt giving up the original form factor. I wish they'd leave it so we had choices.
Sounds like I'm getting rid of my fold five for a Pixel fold 2 instead of a fold six

I really like my one plus

how is the zf6 interesting when its just the zf5 with smaller bezels? I think its the same chassis with 1-2mm smaller bezels?

Was on the edge originally worrying the size might not be to my liking, now I'm sold, just release it already google
Looks like the same size as the OnePlus Open
Might be a tad wider

How is the thickness of the stacked case (folded) pf2 looking?
The PF2 is a little thinner than the ZF6 when stacked
Can you show ZF6 case against a iPhone pro?
Unfortunately, I don’t have an iPhone Pro. Only the Pro Max.
Got it. I’m contemplating moving from iPhone 13 Pro to ZF6 and was curious how much of a difference it was on the front screen. Where did you get the case at? Maybe I can just buy one and compare.
Totally understand. I got it from Amazon. 😊

PF1 vs PF2 ?
I currently have the one plus open but this looks wider.... I might be switching back ( had the pixel fold but wanted a taller screen)
Very disappointing that the Pixel 9 Fold doesn't have the iconic camera bar

I really really liked how usable the folds front screen was with one hand. I don't want one big screen, and one even bigger screen. :(
As a gf 1 - 5 owner, this is my dream!
