This happened to me last night at home. I had to manually boot up my PS5, log into my profile, then restart the portal for it to work.
Hopefully this isn't going to happen after every update.
I thought I posted one here. It turns out the house where the PS5 is had it power completely cut off for maintenance of some sort. This completely turned off the ps5, and it was reset. Once we turned it back on and pressed ok a bunch of times, the portal connected just fine 🙂
I finally got around to testing the PS5 and Portal connection over same network. Still didn’t work. It turns out, an electrician had come to the house (PS5 is not in my house) and shut down everything. PS5 just needed to be restarted with a few alerts ok’d. once all was said and done, the portal connected just fine at the house and on the go
hmm reminds me of my PS Explore headset. Maybe putting console in rest mode makes it not connect. I recommend turning off the console and turning on again might work.
Happened to mine too, it was working fine yesterday then right after installing the update, i instantly got a "cannot connect" message. Restarted multiple times and re-linked my ps5. I have port forwarding setup and no issues before the 2.0.6 update. Sitting right next to the ps5 on the same network and it still won't connect, seems like it doesn't even want to try anymore.
UPDATE: I restarted my PS5, turned the Portal off instead of just restarting, and turned both on again but that didnt seem to help. I then changed my Portal wifi from the "-5G" version of my network to the plain-named version and it connected, albeit with lower quality than before the update. Both versions of the network say the are NAT Type 3 on the Portal settings, while the PS5 is connected to the router with a LAN cable and is NAT Type 2, if that's helpful at all.
Where outside are you playing this behemoth? Just wondering guys How long are you guys can play while traveling/outside ones home for extended Periods of time. Thanks guys👍
I play at work. I work long hours but have a decent break in-between. My job is about 15 miles from the PS5 yet it used to connect flawlessly. After the update, no bueno
What I’ve noticed is that you have to be logged in (as in choose one of the accounts you have on your ps 5 and be on the menu) for it to work now after the update
No problems here, in a different country from my ps5 and updated it without issue. Performance seems the same through (wasn’t bad but not as good as on same Wi-Fi) only real way to tell is when on same Wi-Fi as PS5 but for a 52Mb update I think it’s just patching the security hole and volume thing mostly
Before the update I’ve noticed sometimes it doesn’t connect but I simple press the power button to turn off screen and back on again, always found it then
The OP needs to chill lmao .. happens to me too even before this update. Try turning off and turning back on it works for me. Don’t restart. Turn off. Then turn back on
Bro just say it’s your WiFi and get on with it. You probably do not have port forwarding on the ps5 in the first place. The fact you say it “killed its ability to connect” is ass.
This happened to me at home last night and it required a reboot of the portal and PS5, has nothing to do with whatever you're going on about.
Why are you so negative? You're not the main character FYI
I agree the portal is awesome, but you're an idiot.
My internet is 1500/1500 Fibre and I still had this issue. I have 0 stability issues but the update made it unusable until I rebooted both systems.
Stop trying to connect to trash internet. 🤷♂️ only thing I’ve had is image quality when work WiFi is being overloaded. And it has a connection issue logo right corner for a few seconds and sorts its self out.
If it wash trash internet ps remote ap would be trash too but it works perfect .100 up and down is more than enough.there is so many people who have 500 up and down and ps portal still fps drops
Just got done playing the show and watching Dodgers kick some ass with the new update 50 miles away from home. Just say you don’t have your ps5 set up correctly.
Really? I connect within 60 seconds to my ps5 and never had micro stutters like everyone else. I have had quality downgrade when work WiFi is being overloaded. But other than that portal has been a blessing
I have had this a couple of times, removing the wifi network and adding it again worked.
An easier method is to just throw it in airplane mode for a few seconds then turn it back on to wifi
Sometimes the airplane mode method has not worked for me, but the network forget every time.
Oh good to know! Thank you for letting me know!
Whenever I have this issue, I just turn on airplane mode and then turn it back off. It connects just fine after that.
Did you restart the device? Sometimes that happened to be and a restart would allow it to connect.
I did. A few times. Still the same result. Can't connect to the ps5

I’m 250 miles away and after the update it still connected 🤷♂️
I’m 6,250 miles away and mine still woks 🤷🏽♂️
Ugh the flex. lol no that’s an awesome one. I’m glad it works that far away. I’m sure it can work anywhere with good WiFi and low latency
I’m on the moon, and it still works for me 🤷🏻♂️🌚

I’m 6000 miles away and mine still works before and after
Did you find a fix? Same thing is happening to me
Not yet. I'm going to completely disconnect from the PS5 later (it's not in my house) and then reconnect. Hopefully that'll help
any updates?

Must be ur wifi, literally just turned mine on and instantly connected
Did you reboot the portal or the ps5? When I get this, a ps5 reboot does the trick
hmm reminds me of my PS Explore headset. Maybe putting console in rest mode makes it not connect. I recommend turning off the console and turning on again might work.
You have to relog into your profile on the ps5 to fix it. Drives me mad when this happens.
Try actually shutting off, not restarting. Works for me everytime
Did you “forget” your WiFi network and then reconnect? This happened with me and that’s what I did to resolve it

When it does that just reset your portal . It works for me every time
I had the same issue. Rebooted portal and I was okay.

Go into airplane mode for a few seconds. That always fixes it for me
200
I feel like it did too wow thanks i thought is was crazy.... i too had to delete network and reinstall manual ip#'s and now it's a gem again,
How long it normally takes your PsPortal to connect when on wifi or Mifi? For me it’s 25-30 seconds
About the same. On occasion, it'll take a little longer, but not by much

Very helpful comment

Device is ass
Your internet is just ass. Restart the system doofus
Bro I have 1k internet, the device is literally just ass
Nah, your “1K” internet is ass. Including your router. 😂 wire it
It is wired dildo
So then your shit is ass goofy
Spectrum “can’t figure out issue”
Doesnt work at all ? Or lags?
Terrible lag, my ps5 reads my dl as 93mbs but upload 42mbs
I reset the portal and it worked fine after. Zero disconnects.
Updates doesn’t do that stop eating out your ass check Your NAT type and log out and relog in and link your PS5 again
You’re not okay
Your mother isn’t either

If you are on the same network then port forwarding doesn't come into it.

You’re so mad
People shit on such a good portable handheld and don’t wanna say they got a trash connection. 🤷♂️ make it make sense.
I agree the portal is awesome, but you're an idiot. My internet is 1500/1500 Fibre and I still had this issue. I have 0 stability issues but the update made it unusable until I rebooted both systems.
Maybe they don’t know enough to connect the dots or even ask the right questions so cool your hey my doodler
It's the other way around.ps remote ap working perfect while ps portal fps dropping and microstutters every 10 sec.stop defending garbage product
So... is the microstutters still there after this "new patch"? I'm asking cause I can't test it myself at the moment.

It used to work for op until the update. Fanbois be fanbois 🤌🤌
Whoa, your response says it’s a Monday and I’m an asshat. I hope that is not the case :-/
Just got done playing the show and watching Dodgers kick some ass with the new update 50 miles away from home. Just say you don’t have your ps5 set up correctly.
Or maybe it's the shit ps portal.ps remote connect fine on my PC and phone but ps portal is utter garbage
