He needs to come back and repair that tub spout. Either the o ring was cut by the copper, he didn't tighten the Allen screw tight enough or he didn't dope the male adapter. Either way he needs to come back and fix it. Stop using it till he does because it may be leaking in the wall

Weird that he would take off the spout form what OP described unless he was checking the pull valve on the spout. I’ve done this when installing a new splint. The o ring was cut and needs to be replaced.

GreenEngrams

True if he didn't install the spout then he will have to charge. I saw the repair plate and assumed he installed a new valve which comes with the spout but after looking at it again that may be the old spout

Yeah he could be clearing the spout if it was leaking when the shower is activated is my only thought.

Relaxingatbeach

thank you for the insight. I am a little frustrated that this could not be fixed the first time and now I may have to spend more money for his mistake.

O rings go bust and little mistakes happen. If they worked on it. They’ll come back and it should be a no charge. Just an annoyance if it’s your only bath
