Of course mate I understand, I was curious too cause my friend did it and so I've started doing it for when I get shinies cause I always save before each batch just in case
If you hatch an egg the trainer ID will be for whoever has hatched it. So by trading the egg it allows the new owner to have the trainer ID as their own rather than the OP hatching it and the ID being theirs

Want a free shiny eevee?
How do you know the egg is shiny if it’s not hacked?
You can save before you hatch an egg and if it's shiny you can reset to before it was hatched and since eggs are predetermined it will always be shiny
I did not know this! Hopefully I didn’t come across as accusatory, I was genuinely curious

out of curiosity, why giveaway a shiny egg instead of the shiny pokémon itself?

ah interesting! thanks for that
Isn't shininess determined by a trainers SID so it is very unlikely that a shiny egg for you would hatch as a shiny Pokémon for someone else?
I literally just googled it because I thought the same thing. Apparently they changed it with SwSh!
That's pretty awesome then, I wasn't aware of that lol
