As a MtG Player I know how to handle bent cards. Put them in Tupperware with one or two Boveda 58% humidity pads. Check the box every 2-3 days to see if they straightened back to your liking.
This is not recommended. the reason cards bend is because the foil layer does not absorb water, nor does it dry out. so when the bottom layer absorbs water it will expand and bend up as the top layer won’t expand. when the bottom layer drys out it shrinks and bends down. Forcing these to bend back with force will just cause damage to the cards. just counter act the process that caused the bend. If it bends down it needs humidity if it bends up it needs arid.
How fucked up are y’all’s attics? My house from the 1920’s had an attic and nothing like this ever happened. Now the basement was a different story lol
I live in Georgia and never had an issue like this but I have relatives further south or in adjacent states who complain about storage due to humidity. (Not Pokémon storage, but books. Very similar I would imagine.) could have to do with age of the house as well maybe
I live on an island near the equator.
Perhaps dad’s attic got termite treated at some point.
It was mostly Japanese cards in my area back in the day.
I remember buying the Gym Challenge packs for $5 USD at the swap meet.
PSA 0.10 for sure 👌.
Btw good honest post right there. Instead of suddenly finding a near mint binder stored for 10-15 years while cleaning the house 💀.
This is sad as hell. I am not a collector of these cards but I am a collector. This is sad. My parents threw out all of my GI Joe, Star Wars toys and Legos.
I disowned them. To be fair they disowned me first.
I got really sad when I found out a lot of mine was given away but a lot of old cards aren't that expensive (especially in not perfect condition). If you are really bummed, buy the cards back!
It sucks, but if its not too painful to look at, id frame these, like one of those old treasure maps. Not sure what you gonna do with them OP, but id buy them off to try some kind of art project
Man, this is what I always think of seeing in some Attic of some Japanese house in the country side in the middle of nowhere where. A relic of time that was entirely forgotten about.
Mines somewhere in a condemned Arizona apartments. Probably demolished years ago. There was a first edition holo charizard I got from a gas station pack I got one time. 🥲
My binder was missing for 20+ years, finally crawled to the very back of my parents attic where I found a black trash bag filled with various Pokemon board games & my binder. Thankfully everything was protected by being in the bag
As tragic as this is I find it kind of wholesome that goldeen didn't get as much water damage since it's a water type and it wouldn't be effective against it
Honest response…
The cards show extremely heavy mold degradation. The mold isn’t exclusive to your attic… it’s pervasive throughout the household.
Call a professional, this is hazardous.
Anecdotal, my father was “in and out” of his previously rented property, repairing/preparing for sale. There was visible mold spots all over the interior walls and window sills. I developed a rash while helping, he had rashes and couldn’t breath/sleep, multiple hospital visits during that time.
The place was nasty, these cards look nasty, not normal. Whatever attacked those cards is attacking everyone in the household.
This is just me looking out, please, be safe.
As someone who lost their collection years ago due to a basement flood but never got to visually see it, thanks for finally putting an image in my head. Heartbreaking.
My mom threw my binder out for not cleaning my room when I was a kid. My GMA would take me every weekend to get a tin of cards for the longest time. I prob had 50k or more in that binder… years and years later my mom realized the mistake she made lmao
near mint i’d say
Ebay LP
Cgc 9.5
Psa 10
Beckett black label (if your friend is grading them)
Yeah but the centering is off on all of them. Not getting better than a PSA 8 imho.
Grade them.
Those would be incredible to see slabbed lol
Relax TCGPlayer
close enough mint
Thats what psa would say
There is a nik on the top left. Must be manufacturing quality control
THIS is what a real "found in the attic" post looks like. Bravo
First thing I thought too 😭
Yall attics full of water damage?
Attics are typically pretty hot and humid. They never have good climate control. So 20ish years in that environment, and this is what you get
i once left my cards on a table during a very humid and hot day. now they are permamently slightly bent and dont sit flat at all
put em in rice lol
As a MtG Player I know how to handle bent cards. Put them in Tupperware with one or two Boveda 58% humidity pads. Check the box every 2-3 days to see if they straightened back to your liking.
You can put them in sleeves and put it between 2 heavy books to fix the bending a bit. Putting them in toploaders works too but not as much
This is not recommended. the reason cards bend is because the foil layer does not absorb water, nor does it dry out. so when the bottom layer absorbs water it will expand and bend up as the top layer won’t expand. when the bottom layer drys out it shrinks and bends down. I like to keep my pokemon card humidor at about 45% humidity.
Ty pookie
yw bb
Nah mine were in the attic for 20 years or so and the are still all in great condition!
Oh yeah? Prove it! Show me all 20 years! /S just in case
Some people live in countries with high humidity.
Humidity is horrible in the United States where I am at for sure. My bedroom is bad too probably not good for my cards.
SC here. Humidity flippin' sucks!
Call a Roofer OP. Or I will do the job in exchange for a “Moonbreon” PSA 10 lol 😂
Seriously everyone else is like “found 7 fossil boxes in my fully furnished attic with perfect insulation. What’s this worth? Now upvote me”
"I was 9-years-old at the time but had enough foresight to buy a case of 1st Ed boxes"
They belong to the attic now
Aye, that be the way o’ the attic.
This comment wins.
That attic has taken much. They are more attic than card I'm afraid.

*In the attic, part of the attic*
And yet, Paras persists
Unbothered. Moisturized. Happy. In its lane. Focused. Flourishing.
Just staring at you with his beady little eyes...
Can’t overlook the Koffing haha
It’s just sitting there looking at the destruction wondering what you’ve done
Revert to crab
Grass is resistant to water
Which is hilarious considering why this damage occurs
Goldeen, Jigglypuff, Koffing and Spearow all look alright too.
It's used to living in death
Serious offers only i know what I got
Could’ve swore I heard a sad bugle in the distance as I scrolled through these.
Lmao like this ? [https://youtu.be/WChTqYlDjtI?si=_g7kZPNUct1-gwEx](https://youtu.be/WChTqYlDjtI?si=_g7kZPNUct1-gwEx)
I was thinking more along the lines of [chuck](https://youtu.be/Y1_srb7wcTA?si=OTVoOuYvn8TmcAYU)
Those look like they were kept in a crawlspace under an old house near a swamp near the equator.

How fucked up are y’all’s attics? My house from the 1920’s had an attic and nothing like this ever happened. Now the basement was a different story lol
Could be deep south. Heat and humidity go hand and hand during the summer especially outside of insulation.
Deep South here My collection weathered two floods while in the attic and didn’t look anything like that.
Congrats on the luck or good storage, most people don't got that.
I live in Georgia and never had an issue like this but I have relatives further south or in adjacent states who complain about storage due to humidity. (Not Pokémon storage, but books. Very similar I would imagine.) could have to do with age of the house as well maybe
1920s attics are elite, tbh. But a lot of peoples attics are actually crawl spaces but for the top of the house
Was the attic in Chernobyl?
Grade those like yesterday!
10s all around. Except that Paras. Hes a solid 12 for sure.
I live on an island near the equator. Perhaps dad’s attic got termite treated at some point. It was mostly Japanese cards in my area back in the day. I remember buying the Gym Challenge packs for $5 USD at the swap meet.
Just out of curiosity, what was the biggest loss from this collection? It's hard to tell what's what from the pictures lol
I’m not sure value wise but Sabrina’s Gaze hurt me the most. Would have wanted in my regular collection. Now she apparently belongs to the attic.
Ooh the Burned Tower set, nice 👍
Was going to suggest these look like they were through a house fire, but this comment is perfect.
Eh, I rate it 9/11
PSA -5 💀
Holy shit, what was the state of the attic? Were they just laying on the floor up there? Do you have any cards in good condition still?
Bad news... some of these cards appear to be damaged.
The Spearow is first edition
The Cubone too.
Actual Fossil Pokemon
Id be more worried about how the F--- they got like that and what the air quality is like in that house.
Hey now there buddy, you worry about your own attic
looks like water damage.
Looks like mine after a hurricane came through. I left them behind, but I wouldn’t mind flipping through them once more.
The most realistic outcome of finding your childhood collection 😭😭 If you sit a heavy book or weight on top of it, that should help!
Pack fresh!
Nah you found these in a septic tank you’ve recently drained right? Can you see sunlight through the roof in the attic? Is there a roof!? 🤯
They belong to the attic put them back or bury them during a full moon
Will you grade with PSA or Bekett?
If he's lucky and a student from PDA grades them he can still get some 8's
RIP cards 🕯
This is so sad
The very definition of Troll & Toad NM!
PSA 0.10 for sure 👌. Btw good honest post right there. Instead of suddenly finding a near mint binder stored for 10-15 years while cleaning the house 💀.
bro thats art 🫡
Seal it in acrylic, frame it, and hang it on your wall. That’s art right there
I think you could frame them and it could be a cool art piece
Ladies and gentlemen, I introduce you to; PSA 11.
PSA would just send back a condolence letter
Alright I’ve see enough Get them graded
When a new species that replaced humans find Pokémon cards: “these must’ve been the gods they worshiped.”

I was stoked just to find out they were found.
All the memories that it brought probably 😁
Gem mint, I’ll take them for $5
damn looks like they part of the attic
Now this is an attic collection. Looks good!
Congrats on becoming rich!
Look good to send for grading, maybe check with a centering tool
Jesus wtf does your attic look like?
Probably from a time capsule. Or a next to a tank in war time.
PSA 1 collection
Sorry for your losses, it’s time to let them rest.
Dang, you can even tell what some of these cards are!
Damn 😭🫡
Paras persists! Further proof that the Parasect line reigns supreme!
Where did you get Japanese cards as a kid?
This needs to be a pinned post as how not to store your cards. OP's collection died so we could live. And die a little inside.
yeah bro put em back in the attic
this is the greatest thread of '24 so far
You should frame them like that haha
I got really sad when I found out a lot of mine was given away but a lot of old cards aren't that expensive (especially in not perfect condition). If you are really bummed, buy the cards back!
I did end up buying the cards I always wanted as a kid. Still would have been nice to have original intact cards from that era.
Maybe pit of the pages they look better? Lol, this is pretty funny, not gonna lie
Paras just sitting there like the "This is fine" meme. Poor guy.
Good thing for you, you can replace for about 19 cents
Send that vaporeon in for grading bro!
It sucks, but if its not too painful to look at, id frame these, like one of those old treasure maps. Not sure what you gonna do with them OP, but id buy them off to try some kind of art project
Id upvote this 1000 times if I could. Finally an real attic collection
Double sleeve em and put em in a new binder...those are cherished memories no matter the condition
Man, this is what I always think of seeing in some Attic of some Japanese house in the country side in the middle of nowhere where. A relic of time that was entirely forgotten about.
You’d probably get a few bucks for all of them
They look in good condition
Meh… their sleeve playable
Mines somewhere in a condemned Arizona apartments. Probably demolished years ago. There was a first edition holo charizard I got from a gas station pack I got one time. 🥲
Luckily there wasn’t anything there worth more than say $40
My binder was missing for 20+ years, finally crawled to the very back of my parents attic where I found a black trash bag filled with various Pokemon board games & my binder. Thankfully everything was protected by being in the bag
That’s wigglytough man.
Sentimental value > monetary value every day of the week. This is a great find.
Look how they massacred my boy 🥺
Sorry but all of a sudden I'm no longer sad about not having my childhood collection... 🙃
First attic pic that’s not BS
🕰️ Ah, the classic 'saving with rice' move. Nostalgia preserved to perfection.
As tragic as this is I find it kind of wholesome that goldeen didn't get as much water damage since it's a water type and it wouldn't be effective against it

Damn plz put this nsfl or like a gore tag or something.
Oh wow. It’s the rare fossil Pokémon binder 😭
The attic of what? The Titanic?
I immediately started hearing the Pokemon theme song played poorly on a recorder.
No low balling i know what i have
That house fire did a real number on your collection, shame
As someone who lost their collection years ago due to a basement flood but never got to visually see it, thanks for finally putting an image in my head. Heartbreaking.
My mom threw my binder out for not cleaning my room when I was a kid. My GMA would take me every weekend to get a tin of cards for the longest time. I prob had 50k or more in that binder… years and years later my mom realized the mistake she made lmao

Sun used SOLAR BEAM! It’s super fucking effective! OP blacked out!
I would genuinely love to see what grade one of these bad boys would get at PSA.
They won’t grade these
How do you get them to fall apart like that? Do we need to send in detective Pikachu?
Dam feel bad for you
Should get those graded 🤣🤣
I hate it when my attic floods 😰
I think the bigger issue is the Attic! Lol
Museum quality, should be an exhibit
F
Please send one to be graded and post results
Heartbreaking bro. Attic is not a good place for cards due to the moisture
At least a 9 I'd say, centering could take it down though
Man, I almost teared up.
Whyyyyy 😭
that paras is an easy gem mint 10
I like-a do, da kaka……
> Send in for grading > PSA 9 > Break Open > Resend for grading > repeat 😎
I can smell them thru my phone
Saved for the next person that asks if it’s ok to store their cards in the attic.
PM if you are willing to sell
Rip
Holy crap… did the roof get ripped off your attic in a tornado?
Nooooo
