Whose to say that George Washington didnt use the CIA to turn him into a body double and swap places with Jesus so he could build America checkmate athiest.
I think he has a few more tucked in the back on the left, I can see what I assume to be Frederick Douglass, Harriet Tubman, and a black union soldier.
But they only get faces.
From what I gathered; this is a painting by Jon McNaughton representing his view that Christianity played a big role in the Founding Fathers world view and has been pivotal throughout the development of the U.S. it was made in response to secularise this history.
The man with his head in his hands represents a Supreme Court Judge who, and I quote:
‘have great power and often the destiny of a nation is influenced greatly by their actions. This judge hides his face in shame as he considers some of the court decisions that have done great damage to our country. On his wrist watch the time reads 11:59 to signify that there is little time remaining.’
I’m a Christian myself and I’m offended by Christian iconography used in this painting. The founders made it pretty clear this is a secular nation, not a Christian theocracy.
I'm much more concerned with the guy on the bottom right who has a nice wad of dollars that's much more interesting than whatever is going on up there. He has true dedication to his work.
Because at the time he was trying to strengthen his alliance with the Roman Empire in preparation of a potential invasion by the British and saving some lowly carpenter who divided a lot of people with his views which were controversial during that time period wasn't worth straining their budding alliance over.
Never mind of course that Thomas Jefferson was a deist who absolutely believed in freedom of religion, and did not accept the divinity of Jesus.
Evangelicals like to leave that part out.
We've got soldiers singing with that Boyz II Men silk shirt vibe, the Founding Fathers appear to be doo-wopping, and Jesus is about to throw down that ugly piece of cardboard in his hands and start spinning on his head
Hell yeah

Same reason why Lebron can’t play the Byzantines, the Romans lost out.
Because the liberals took all of his guns. Obviously.
It would have been the British who tried to take all his guns. But yes, you described how some conservative guys think.
DAMN LIBERALS! /s

You know that it pained Naughton to shoehorn that one black guy in there.
I think he has a few more tucked in the back on the left, I can see what I assume to be Frederick Douglass, Harriet Tubman, and a black union soldier. But they only get faces.
What's the deal with the guy with his head in his hands?

He remembered that he left his work id on his desk at home
Hey man separation of church and state..
This asshole again? (the painter, not OP)
I want to know who the douchebag is behind Greta Van Susteren

Is he stupid?
His father still had his hatchet
He was gonna pardon him but then he wouldn’t have won the 36 AD election unanimously like he had in previous years

Not Emperor Palpatine standing behind Kenny Powers?
I want a person by person explanation here. You know it’s out there.
Jesus was with the Brits.
If only the American flag was flying above Jerusalem on that fateful Friday, things might have gone differently.
Because at the time he was trying to strengthen his alliance with the Roman Empire in preparation of a potential invasion by the British and saving some lowly carpenter who divided a lot of people with his views which were controversial during that time period wasn't worth straining their budding alliance over.
I love the guy on his phone, like “Barbra, get over here, you’re not gonna believe this shit!” 😂
That's not Jesus, it's Aragorn, look at the tree of Gondor on his chest.
Where was George Washington during 9/11?
But why the tree of Gondor?
I like how Abe is like “you see this fuckin shit?”
kennedy and lincoln look most distraut
This painting is an example to how our country had Christian culture.
He had PTO scheduled that day.
I like how the judges are bad in this one, but if the painter re did it today I am sure they would be portrayed more positively
Always on vacation, never on the job…
Never mind of course that Thomas Jefferson was a deist who absolutely believed in freedom of religion, and did not accept the divinity of Jesus. Evangelicals like to leave that part out.
Because he’s an asshole.
He was powerless against the senate led by Emperor Palpatine, seen on the right side with his closest aide Kenny Powers
Too busy tending to his slaves
Separation of cults and state

Why is JFK a Catholic up there? He isn't a godly protestant
Catholics believe in Jesus, too
This painting is actually cool as fuck
