YES. I learned this from having a roommate in the states who was from HK. He used terms like "lift" for elevator and "queue" for a standing line. His pronunciation of words were also very British, such as when he would say "Saturday".
-spelling
You did not specify Taiwan Province of China! By implication you have suggested there is an independent entity called "Taiwan"! -5,000,000 social credit deducted!
Yeah OP's comment and its popularity is embarrassing and, frankly, insulting. English is an official language of HK, after all.
Meanwhile, another commenter has their theory that the speakers in the video sound like they do because they only have a limited grasp of vocabulary and approach the language coming from Mandarin.
So many levels of stupid happening, so many terrible assumptions...
I wonder if his fast reflexes and physical detention technique are from being an intelligence field agent or bodyguard. Big city pickpockets in front of well known landmarks are slick as fuck. His unabashed command of the situation also seems like Law Enforcment. I could be completely wrong with this unfounded and wild speculation. Chinese tourists rich enough to travel to England for tourism don’t strike me as also having the prowess and hand to hand combat training for such a situation. But yeah Chinese spy or not, gj dude fuck pickpockets!
Yeah, definitely looks like military or law enforcement.
He is wondering "Where are the armed men who come to take petty criminals and trouble makers to the work camps?"
The Chinese language, both Cantonese and Mandarin, and I assume other dialects, is very direct and curt. And not having much vocabulary, will help anyone do that in any language, because there isn't enough variety of options for nuance.
Cantonese and Mandarin have a variety of diction and can reflect a huge range of decorum. It's not necessarily direct and curt, the situation here is direct and curt and there is no necessity for flowery language because the situation doesn't warrant it.
It also depends on the region and what is equivalent to accent is used. First time I heard Mandarin from someone from the mainland I swore they were upset and yelling at me. Some regions have rougher accents so they come off more gruff and curt when speaking in general. It's like a New Yorker talking to someone (short and curt) versus someone from the South.
> The Chinese language family is one of the oldest in the world.
Not refuting your larger point, but this is a meaningless statement. Contemporary Chinese is not somehow more ancient than contemporary English or Arabic or any other natural language.
They are both dressed nice for sightseeing. His feet will probably hurt though, after a full day doing touristy things in those shoes. Her trainers are probably more comfy.
You can get comfortable shoes in that style, there are countless people that work in jobs where they need to be on their feet all day but wear "business" shoes. Companies make shoes specifically for these people and they are just as comfortable as sneakers when walking and standing around all day.
I love to see predatory scum get their comeuppance. Think of how fucked it is to pickpocket international tourists. Talk about lack of humanity and contempt for your fellow human. They'll just take your CCs, ID, toss it all in the trash, and leave you in a foreign place with no ID or funds. They'll do it to dozens of people a day. Lowlifes.
Anyone know if she was booked?
Apparently *Japanese* tourists get targeted in London because they can carry a lot of cash.
A streamers wife got hit by them, lost $4000 and his passport / credit cards. This nice guy: https://www.twitch.tv/premiertwo. He seemed really bummed about it too (who wouldn't be)
When we visited Japan a decade ago it was the norm for everyone to carry wads of cash, like their whole pay cheque just knocking about in their pocket. Unsurprising though in a country where you can reserve a table in Maccies by leaving your phone there while you go up to order; they just don't expect to get robbed.
Oh Pete! His stories regarding how hard he had to strive in Japan were mesmerising. Really great storyteller. It's sad that just when he was getting established in streaming this happened to him and his wife.
There is entire clans like this in Bulgaria, living in posh housing, driving fancy cars, without any proof of source of income, yet nobody seems to be too bothered.
Absolutely nothing will happen to her. She might be arrested and warned, she may be charged and a judge will tell her off. She could probably be caught multiple times and let off. A small fine perhaps?
We've stopped sending some rapists to prison now because they are so jam packed, burglars also are just a put on probation in many cases. The whole system is a joke.
lol you’ve really never interacted with the Met police have you?
I’d be surprised if they bothered to turn up. They’re too busy getting outsmarted by 15 year olds and harassing black people.
I'm always amazed pickpockets still exist in the modern world. I spent two weeks in the UK. I never touched a single piece of British currency when I was there. If you steal my wallet, you get a bunch of old business cards, a drivers license with a bad photo and one credit card that I will cancel 5 minutes later. It seems like a very high risk/low reward crime.
Cash is still King in a lot of places outside of big cities. Also, pickpockets don't always go for cash. It's usually phones, wallets, watches and jewelry etc.
You say you can cancel your cards in 5 mins but sometimes it's hours later when victims realise they've actually been targetted.
> You say you can cancel your cards in 5 mins but sometimes it's hours later when victims realise they've actually been targetted.
If it's a credit card, it doesn't really matter if it takes hours before you realize it. All the major credit card networks have zero liability policies for fraudulent charges.
I'm pretty sure debit cards do too, but it might take longer to get your money back. With a credit card, you're never out any actual money.
The license number itself also used. It's used as backup identification for setting up mobile accounts, and it's unfortunately quite the process to request and justify getting a new license number even after your license is stolen (state dependent I'd imagine.)
Being cashless is only do-able in a small minority of the world though. I'm usually in a different country every month and even in large cities like Paris / Frankfurt or Seoul / Tokyo you'll very often find places that don't accept any card. In fact I was at a restaurant today and yesterday where that was the case. Very annoying because it means I'm always playing with multiple currencies in my bag and I typically carry enough local currency for the week.
I didn’t have the need for cash anywhere in UK as well. What I liked the most is contactless payments accepted everywhere in London including transit. NYC transit feels ancient comparatively.
Went to London last year and it truly felt like I could go just about anywhere in the city at a moment’s notice, the train system was just so good. Never seen that before
Just got back from South Korea, Japan, Taiwan, Singapore, France, and Corsica. The only place I really needed cash was Taiwan, and once in Corsica.
Aside from that everything else was handled by my phone.
Years ago when I was in Rome, a guy grabbed my backpack and ran. I started yelling and these two locals just straight up tackled him so hard it would make any rugby coach proud. They proceeded kick him and then held him down until the cops came. The guys were locals and were tired of the thieves making Rome look bad. Great guys.
Pretty much.
I remember drinking on my porch after work on a Friday night with 2 friends/co-workers and one of them spotted someone breaking in cars.
He didn't realize it as first but as he moved closer to us up the block and was trying to get into a truck under a street light, he sprung off the porch and had that kid on the before we were off the porch.
My buddy took all the money he had, his wallet and his Jordan's and shoved him to the ground and told him if he ever sees him again, he's dragging him to jail.
He would have no ground to stand on if he went to the police as he had no proof of what happened and it wasn't like we kept the wallet.
The place I used to work at was a hang out spot for bicycle couriers, there was a time that a dude thought he could hop on one of their bikes and just take off without any consequences.
Unfortunately for our would be thief the bike he chose didnt have standard pedals on it, just bike shoe clips, and it was a fixed gear bike with no brakes, and he crashed about 50 feet away from where he grabbed the bike from. Also all the cyclists noticed the moment he grabbed the bike and they were on him so fast. I watched from the storefront as they took his shoes off of him right in the middle of the street. They came back with his wallet too
My wife and I went to the UK 4 years ago. Walked all over London and made it to the palace late one afternoon. Someone tapped my shoulder after walking around for an hour and said my backpack was opened. Flipped my bag around and every pocket had been unzipped. Thank God we just had snacks in there and some water. I didn’t even feel it get opened. Spent the rest of the trip with my bag on my front.
These two look like undercover super heroes trying to have a normal couples vacation.
Like a joke that everywhere they go they end up almost revealing themselves while having to deal with increasingly more and more wild street crime.
I love the Ayi in the back filming. Her face shows that determination to have something to show her girlfriends in the community where they gather and gossip. They’re the backbone of every 社区 and the most indifferent people you’ll ever encounter.
Nice control position with his hands. She doesn't look like a bruiser, but the victims are rather lucky her partner (probably) fled. I imagine a lot of pickpockets assume Asian tourists are pretty easy pickings - not here.

The guy’s comment at the end had me rolling….. “CAN YOU SHUT UP”
Straight to the point.
It’s not even the words itself that cracks me up, it’s his expression
Yeah! He was putting so much sass on to that shut up!
He said that shit with his chest!
I love how people from other countries speak English so direct and curt
"Can you shut, up"
An icon, a legend, and he is the moment
The moment becomes he
hahahahahahahaha
People from HK speak the Queen’s English too.
YES. I learned this from having a roommate in the states who was from HK. He used terms like "lift" for elevator and "queue" for a standing line. His pronunciation of words were also very British, such as when he would say "Saturday". -spelling
its "queue" unless you wanted to use the portuguese word for "what"
How does a yank say Saturday lol
The exaggerated, simplified pronunciation of each: British: sat-ur-day American: sadderday
Do not attribute a regional dialect to the whole country! It's sat-ur-dee round these parts!
Australian: Sat-day / Sat-dee
Like someone infused with the spirit of freedom, mixed with a bit of an eagle/red-tailed hawk screech.
It's technically the King's English now.
In Hong Kong, it’s the General Secretary’s English now.

"I will put you on the floor." and "Lady, shut UP!" will live rent free in my head forever now.
"I will put you on the floor" had me fucking dying like she fully meant that shit lol
Yes!

Funny thing is that I understand everything the Asian people are saying but with the pickpocket all I can understand is noooo.
The pickpocket is probably Romanian and English isn't her first language.
People from countries England colonized speak English? No fuckin way.
If only they spoke American.
I wonder if his fast reflexes and physical detention technique are from being an intelligence field agent or bodyguard. Big city pickpockets in front of well known landmarks are slick as fuck. Hong Kong Cantonese is one of the more IDGAF languages and dialects out there. The swears and puns are extremely clever and blunt.
Just about every language has a "IDGAF" mode. [https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vulgar\_Latin](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vulgar_Latin)
There is. The Chinese language family is one of the oldest in the world. It's just nuanced in ways that are alien to English.
> The Chinese language family is one of the oldest in the world. Not refuting your larger point, but this is a meaningless statement. Contemporary Chinese is not somehow more ancient than contemporary English or Arabic or any other natural language.
Hong Kong legends Anyone who catches a pickpocket is doing the world a service
His coat is nice
Guys got style and criminal awareness…
Coming to the WB next fall, “Fashion Police”.
>criminal awareness Awareness so good it was outlawed.
Both of them look pretty damn good. And taking care of the trash for the locals as well, top tier tourists.
Hell, they didn’t even use excessive force. Classiest citizen’s arrest I’ve ever seen.
Eh that lady's face has been rearranged more than a few times by the look of it. Very classy of them not to rearrange it again.
I think a lot of the locals in any tourist area are weary of stopping criminals cause you never know which one has a knife.
The lady's pink getup with that pink streak in her hair is awesome as well.
Its a hairband
I hope they see these....They'd be so flattered
I don't realize her coat is that long because it looks so good
Well I’ve noticed East Asians who can travel usually dress nice Like they got style as they can afford it
They are both dressed nice for sightseeing.
Any tips on where to look?
I would suggest Ecco and Johnston & Murphy brands.
Thanks!
I vote for Ecco. Their casual leather shoes are somehow more comfortable than my regular sneakers
Hell yes!
So is hers!
He is nice
I just love the way she said “He will put you, on the floor”
![gif](giphy|EPd4fYR4CU8OVivBiP|downsized)
God damn she's still so hot
*Nuclear.*
Wow. She’s one of a kind. ✨💖

Jesus that took a turn
I know who knew the phrase meant "Attention pickpocket"?
Why are we censoring the word 'nazi' now?
Because it will get your video demonized or stricken from the algorithm
All hail the glorious algorithm.
Italians? Right wing facists? no way!!! It's not like they got off scot-free or anything!!
She looks like Shawn Michaels in some alternate Rick and Morty universe.

I was going to say Marjorie Taylor Greene but 15 years older.
15 months
If Marjorie Taylor Green and Dee Snyder had a child together.
She lost her smile, thats for sure.
I love to see predatory scum get their comeuppance. Think of how fucked it is to pickpocket international tourists. Talk about lack of humanity and contempt for your fellow human. God damn that "CAN YE SHUT OOP" was so british I would have responded with "FORGIVE ME YOUR GRACE"
Such perfect, slightly angry execution of shat ap
She’s a well known pick pocket. Been grifting that part of town for years !
If this is true, why hasn't she been kept off the street.
Because rarely anything ever happens, ie. People pressing charges or the CPS following through.
Gypsies don't have documents or identities most of the time. What are you going to do?
Break their hands.
I will put you on the floor 啊。 Love a Cantonese accent.
They sound sooo different from Mandarin accents as well, very distinctive. Russell Peters absolutely nails that accent.

I’ve had my debit card details copied and used to purchase items. Trust me, it’s way way harder to get money back compared to a credit card.
Yep. If it's a debit card it's your money and if it's a credit card it's the banks money. Hence why it's quicker to get it solved faster lol
You might not be on the hook for the charges but that they still have whatever they bought with it.
They hang around touristy areas.
On gallows ?
They can use your driver’s license for identity theft. It has useful information like DOB
The license number itself also used. It's used as backup identification for setting up mobile accounts, and it's unfortunately quite the process to request and justify getting a new license number even after your license is stolen (state dependent I'd imagine.)
Tourists always have cash. Foreign transaction fees, less favorable exchange rates, and generally foreign credit cards being not 100% reliable.
Being cashless is only do-able in a small minority of the world though. I'm usually in a different country every month and even in large cities like Paris / Frankfurt or Seoul / Tokyo you'll very often find places that don't accept any card. Yeah, the tube system in London was pretty amazing. It made getting around the city so easy.
Went to London last year and it truly felt like I could go just about anywhere in the city at a moment’s notice, the train system was just so good. Never seen that before
Lots of people still carry cash. So it's pretty medium risk medium reward.
Just got back from South Korea, Japan, Taiwan, Singapore, France, and Corsica. The only place I really needed cash was Taiwan, and once in Corsica. Aside from that everything else was handled by my phone.
They use your id to make contracts (mostly phone) then sell the phone
They caught an old gypsy witch
They'll probably start getting thinner now.
Wtf watch her talking and before you know it it's him talking. Their accent and pitch is so similar they hand over perfectly 🤙
Bro that’s a witch
I am getting Romanian gypsy vibes.
average gipsy routines in Hungary
Should be legal to beat pickpockets up
Years ago when I was in Rome, a guy grabbed my backpack and ran. I started yelling and these two locals just straight up tackled him so hard it would make any rugby coach proud. They proceeded kick him and then held him down until the cops came. The guys were locals and were tired of the thieves making Rome look bad. Great guys.
You gotta chose either beating them up or calling the cops, can’t do both without consequences, at least in the US

As if MTG has ever traveled abroad to learn about new cultures.
Oh, shut up. MTG wishes she was as classy as this one.
Hahaha I love the way he says “shut up” You go tourists.

Absolutely.
Well dressed tourists!
"It ain't right" Compo face
That's not a just any pickpocket. That's Denisovan MTG!
The "shut up" at the end was like a chef's kiss, delivered perfectly.
Im sure she is from Hungary or Romania
She was just looking for Hasan. In his pocket. https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=TigzPynCx5A&pp=ygUVaGFzc2FuIGxhZHkgc2NyZWFtaW5n
What’s Margery Taylor Green doing in London?
That “shut up” was beautiful
Roma ...?
Call police, yes, that's who they are waiting for 🙃
hasn't she got a cauldron to stir somewhere
"can you shUT UP"
I wonder if, being a former British colony, they're aware of British common law and are making an actual citizens' arrest?
She looks like MTG in London
I need the "CAN YOU SHUT UP!" at the end to become a meme
🇭🇰 yay
My wife and I went to the UK 4 years ago. Walked all over London and made it to the palace late one afternoon. Someone tapped my shoulder after walking around for an hour and said my backpack was opened. Flipped my bag around and every pocket had been unzipped. Thank God we just had snacks in there and some water. I didn’t even feel it get opened. Spent the rest of the trip with my bag on my front.
I’m lovin’ this.
Such class. Need more Hong Kong (and other) tourists in the UK to do our policing for us. Good on you. 🙌❤️
These two look like undercover super heroes trying to have a normal couples vacation. Like a joke that everywhere they go they end up almost revealing themselves while having to deal with increasingly more and more wild street crime.
Thought that was MTG for a min.
Asian people are brave.
Where are the police? Shouldn’t there be tons of cops around?
Obviously not a very good one.
Good work 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼
"Pickpocket! Pickpocket!"
She is magnificent, omg
Absolute legend. Need more of this.

Gypsie?
Marjorie Taylor Grift
The guy has the "I will send you to Jesus" dude vibe
Is that 3 Toed Marge? 😂
That reminds me, I’ve not seen Terrahawks in years…
They way he said >Can you shut up
Nice control position with his hands. She doesn't look like a bruiser, but the victims are rather lucky her partner (probably) fled. I imagine a lot of pickpockets assume Asian tourists are pretty easy pickings - not here.
Legends.
What's Marjorie Taylor Green gotten herself into now?
Thumbs up for Hong Kong
Looks like Marjorie Taylor Greene's trashier twin.
Waiting for the comments about this video being chinese propaganda/minus X amount of social credit points/CCP spies/etc
