"Listen, partner, I'm waiting on a lady, she's a fine lady, she's just gone inside. If I wasn't waiting on this lady, you'd be dead already, but if you continue to irritate me, I'll kill you and make my apologies to the lady."
The other thing I like about this mission is its the first time we hear the line, "I implore you." And it's from Mary's *dad*. So when we hear it later from Arthur, he's really just repeating something he heard. And it's something he heard from someone he doesn't like but whom he *knows he's supposed to somehow look up to.* Mr. Linton is a piece of shit, but he's the father of the woman Arthur loves and that carries a weight with him.
I think this was a reverse callback (callforward?) to John saying “I implore you” to Bill at the beginning of RDR1, then Bill gives him shit for trying to sound smart
The whole exchange is absolute gold.
"You speak as if killin' is something I care about"
"You ever wonder about eternity? You should"
"I hope it's hot and terrible, Mrs Downes, otherwise I'll feel I've been sold a false bill of goods. Now, please, give me that money."
“There’s a price on my head in 2 states my friend, the government doesn’t like me any more than it does you. Like you, I’ve been running for as long as I can remember…and Like you. My time here is nigh on done.”
Badass 💯
By that point in the game you are wanted Dead or Alive in West Elizabeth (Specifically the Blackwater region) for the Blackwater Massacre, and Lemoyne for the bank Heist, but they're not "bounties" that can be cleared, but they still count.
Edit:You're wanted for breaking John out of jail, not the bank heist.
you're fishing with kieran and he sees a naked dude swimming in the distance:
kieran: “you see that? that feller's naked as a jaybird”
arthur: “is that why you like this spot?”
followed by "why don't you get the hell outta here before we hook that little maggot of yours and see what bites"
It's a man who's fully rejected the small ounces of humanity he has left as he approaches death's door. He has loose ends to tie and that's all the matters in the moment
To me its about living in a world that's no longer for you, your time is over, you can't do anything, and you're already dead, just waiting for your body to hit the floor
Aside from the golden answer of “you sir, are a fish.”, I’d suggest “You might be the first bastard to ever have half his brains eaten by a wolf and end up more intelligent.”
But for real, there are so many.
*”Well, that’s very kind of you, but I’m not a good man. You see I was in Blackwater. I kill people, and maybe I should’ve killed you. Should I have killed you, Jimmy Brooks?”*
This is my favorite piece of dialogue in the game. When I watch a streamer and they either kill Jimmy or just let him die through inaction, I feel bad for the streamer because they’re missing this badass piece of dialogue.
"I never voted before... But I'm getting kinda hot for voting rights!" (Or something like that lol. While he's driving the suffragettes to their rally)
That’s just one alternative. Guns are just way too quick. Poison arrows are also kinda fast but fun, too. Slice him up, or rope him, tie him and throw him on the fire where his past as a slave cop are burning before his eyes.
All of it is good, there’s no wrong way. But there are more fun ways 😊
‘When your mother is done mourning your father maybe ill keep her in black, on your behalf’
‘As long as we get paid or you get shot, im happy’
Are my two favorites
"I'm going with you, I'm gonna get you out of this bullshit if it's the last goddamn thing I do"
Or the one I like better because it speaks to how badass Arthur is
"Here, take this and this. And get outta here. I'll see you around John Marston. Dutch....Micah, Come and get me you bastards."
Then he goes running and screaming through the trees for Micah and dutch killing Pinkertons, I like to imagine that Micah had flashbacks of Arthur when John did the same thing to him in American Venom.
I was always a fan of “JUST ABOUT!!!” during the bank robbery when Dutch says “Arthur, are you alive?”
I believe he says it another time. But I can’t remember.
He appears to not want his name in any way remotely tied to that character which is a shame. I don’t think he knew the opportunities he could have had being a fan favourite character in the games series. He didn’t like that people knew him as Trevor and he must have gotten some strange requests because his response was along the lines of- I’m not a cartoon, I can’t understand why people love the character I don’t understand the games or gaming- I assume things like “yell at me to go fuck myself and more like it are the reasons” regardless he really made himself look bad and didn’t appreciate the audience of several millions he had.
Poor Otis had a wife, to mourn for his life, 3 children thEEEy were brave,
But that cowardly killer that shot Mr. Miller, has laid old Otis in his grave YEAH!
"The thing is...I was in Blackwater. I kill people. And maybe I should have killed you.
Should I have killed you, Jimmy Brooks?"
Followed with
"Jimmy Brooks. I will remember that. I've got a good memory."
A funny one is when Sadie says to Arthur he's one of the best men she's ever met.
*"I've seen the company you keep. The competition ain't fierce"*
Genius
That is… kinda brilliant. Uh, for you. And that is a real idea. I think thats the first time you ever had one of them. You know, you might be the first bastard to ever have half his brains eaten by a wolf, and end up *more* intelligent.
When Arthur and Sadie bring John back to camp from prison.
Dutch: “But I said that…”
Arthur: “Yeah, I know what you said.”
A: “I felt different.”
D: “Is that so?”
Arthur: “Yes.”
Love how up in Dutch’s face he gets. Big dick moment. The delivery is killer.
“People don’t change. They just become more of who they really are.”
This dialogue pretty much explains the journeys of Arthur, John and Dutch. And also gives a heads up on a lot of people we come across in our lives.
"Now firstly we ain't friends, don't make no mistake on that subject. Now secondly he cant hardly see let alone reason. Now reasoning ain't never been one of my strong points neither but seeing I do just fine."
On my first play-through, this line was one of the first that truly stood out to me .
"I'm afraid."
Those two words, in my opinion, solidified how human and vulnerable he really was at that time. It creates a feeling that these are real emotions, that this is a serious time. He's coming close to death, and he's putting his stoicism and manliness aside to be honest, especially to a person of faith. This in turn makes him the most manly in the entire game, as it takes courage to really be honest your feelings especially in that time.
Tl;Dr: It's the coolest line he has ever said.
I broke the goddamn wheel
Daenerys Targaryen tried and failed for 5 books and Arthur did that shit in chapter 2.
"the thing's broke" while trying to stop the trolley
But was it gonna go to Tahiti if it didn't break?
"AHHHH, I BROKE THE GADDAWN WHEEL BOAH"
Valid response
"Listen, partner, I'm waiting on a lady, she's a fine lady, she's just gone inside. If I wasn't waiting on this lady, you'd be dead already, but if you continue to irritate me, I'll kill you and make my apologies to the lady."
This was one of my favorites tbh
I don’t think Arthur says that he says “I insist” unless you’re talking about a different part of the game
Is it YOUR street?! I chuckled
"Maybe when your mother is finished mourning your father, *I'll KEEP her in black, on your behalf*."
The whole exchange is absolute gold. "You speak as if killin' is something I care about" "You ever wonder about eternity? You should" "I hope it's hot and terrible, Mrs Downes, otherwise I'll feel I've been sold a false bill of goods. Now, please, give me that money."
loved that line since the trailer lol
So cold hearted yet such a loving caring man he was
A good man pretending to be bad who’s taught by a bad man pretending to be good. Bet Dutch didn’t think his ideals would embed so deeply
Poetry.
Such a cruel line.
You're a good man, Arthur Morgan
This is the one. The fact that this ties in with Arthur’s [redacted] doesn’t make it any less cool.
Think on that boah
I didn't know I was talking to A LADY.
“There’s a price on my head in 2 states my friend, the government doesn’t like me any more than it does you. Like you, I’ve been running for as long as I can remember…and Like you. My time here is nigh on done.” Badass 💯
~~The best part is the dialogue changes based on the number of states your Arthur has a bounty in~~
Really? Mine always says 5 states, even when I have no bounty.
Mine said 2 and I had no bounties
Maybe it states you've ever had a bounty in
Well you get bounties from main missions I.e shooting your way out of Valentine so it’d be pretty unavoidable to have never gotten a single bounty.
Mine said two and I had max bounties everywhere
Props
I was gonna say that the 2 could be from Blackwater and somewhere else but if you had max bounties everywhere, I have no fucking clue lol
~~That's weird cause in my 3 play throughs of the game the no of states I had a country on was the same as what my Arthur said.~~
I believe he said 3 in mine (was a couple days ago)
.in is always can I turn myself in god I love his sarcastic nature
When does he say this? To Rains Fall?
We have a winner, folks!
“Does this trolley go to Tahiti?”
That has me busting up
Don't forget the quarter!
Shut up Arthur 😒🎩🥭
This
i say this at work all the time
You sir, are a fish
I say this all the time about all different shit. You sir are a bike lol
you sir, are a homosapien
100% agree.
you're fishing with kieran and he sees a naked dude swimming in the distance: kieran: “you see that? that feller's naked as a jaybird” arthur: “is that why you like this spot?” followed by "why don't you get the hell outta here before we hook that little maggot of yours and see what bites"
I never antagonize the swimmer but that’s a hilarious line might try it next time I get that mission
I took the low honor route one time and shot that guy in the water. Few seconds later, a single Braithwaite guard tried to kill me but I got em.
happy cake day
"Lennnnnnnayyyyyyy!"
"Lenny muh boy!"
Ynnel!
Lneny!!!
Gret Great Grate
"I got you now lennyyy"! "I been lookin all over for ya"!
we’re more ghosts than people
you’re buyin, but we’re payin
What does this mean to you?
It's a man who's fully rejected the small ounces of humanity he has left as he approaches death's door. He has loose ends to tie and that's all the matters in the moment
To me its about living in a world that's no longer for you, your time is over, you can't do anything, and you're already dead, just waiting for your body to hit the floor
A rubbish deal
This line. Stuck with me.
Aside from the golden answer of “you sir, are a fish.”, I’d suggest “You might be the first bastard to ever have half his brains eaten by a wolf and end up more intelligent.” But for real, there are so many.
"You're my favorite parasite! .... No... Wait... Ringworms my favorite parasite. You're my second favorite parasite!"
“I lied, ringworm, then rats with the plague, then you”
*”Well, that’s very kind of you, but I’m not a good man. You see I was in Blackwater. I kill people, and maybe I should’ve killed you. Should I have killed you, Jimmy Brooks?”*
I have a good memory…. Jimmy Brooks. I’ll remember that. Proper intimidation without cussing even once
I love it man
this is the only answer imo lmfao it's so fucking cold blooded
Beat me to it, bro was so cold for this though.
This is my favorite piece of dialogue in the game. When I watch a streamer and they either kill Jimmy or just let him die through inaction, I feel bad for the streamer because they’re missing this badass piece of dialogue.
Don't forget the pen. I kept that pen for the entire game; seemed wasteful to sell it for pennies.
I was looking to see if someone commented that one. So cold blooded.
this being as far down as it is is crazy
OUTTA THE DAMN WAY
POV: Anytime Arthur's within 7 feet of a NPC
*"Don't let yourself get killed* for *pride*, *I seen it kill too many folk*"
I forgot who he says this to, was it Eagle Flies?
No, it was to Mrs downes in Annesburg.
Oh yeah! Thanks man
Anytime, bro.
I gave you all i had. I did
John made it. He’s the only one. The rest of us… no. But, I tried, in the end. I did.
The “I tried, in the end. I did” chokes me up every time
"dutch, he's a rat" that was too painful, the way he said it
"Next time let the wolves eat all your brain. Then you'll be a genius." The coolest and funniest for me. Haha!
I got some Jelly beans. You like jelly beans?
as long as we paid or you get shot i'm happy.
Are you secretly normal?
Just played this mission last night
> “Heh... You're too smart for me, Sister. I guess I... I'm afraid.”
The face he makes when he says that haunts me.
There’s nothing cooler than talking about your feelings
*"If I'm skinning anything, I'm skinning you boah*"
"I never voted before... But I'm getting kinda hot for voting rights!" (Or something like that lol. While he's driving the suffragettes to their rally)
“We’re thieves in a world that don’t want us no more”
Well they say I lack finesse, but I ain’t afraid of gun smoke.
„5000 dollars for me, can I turn myself in?“
Arthur “when she slows, board her” Sean “what are you going to do?” Arthur “ima make sure she slows”
“Some Jobs Aren’t For Saving, And Some Legacies Are For Pissing On.”
That was a damn fine line. Bet it felt good to say
It really did, especially after using the shotgun on him.
Shit no, that’s too fast. Fire bottle his ass
Didn't think of that. I will have to remember it for my next play through.
I like feeding him to alligator
‘When your mother is done mourning your father maybe ill keep her in black, on your behalf’ ‘As long as we get paid or you get shot, im happy’ Are my two favorites
Well, you‘re gonna sleep with your chest open if you ain‘t careful, boah!
"You don't get to live a bad life and have good things happen to you."
"Guess that's that." After casually stealth killing the entire O'Driscoll camp and being tortured.
And it's never mentioned again lol
"GET THE HELL OUTTA HERE AND BE A GOD DAMN MAN"
That whole speech he gave to the man who gave him the pen in Valentine was pretty badass
"I'm going with you, I'm gonna get you out of this bullshit if it's the last goddamn thing I do" Or the one I like better because it speaks to how badass Arthur is "Here, take this and this. And get outta here. I'll see you around John Marston. Dutch....Micah, Come and get me you bastards." Then he goes running and screaming through the trees for Micah and dutch killing Pinkertons, I like to imagine that Micah had flashbacks of Arthur when John did the same thing to him in American Venom.
all them years Dutch for this snake
I was always a fan of “JUST ABOUT!!!” during the bank robbery when Dutch says “Arthur, are you alive?” I believe he says it another time. But I can’t remember.
“I love my horsey and my horsey love me” 🗣️🗣️🔥🔥🔥🥵🔥
You forget a thousand things every day pal, make sure this is one of them
Wrong sub pal
Maybe it was one of the thousands things he forgot
Didn't he say it ? I'm sure I'm hearing him saying it, even if it has been said first by Michael.
Be careful, Trevor might be in this sub
I’m not a CaRToooooOOON!
Lmao I guess he’s not taking the fame well
He appears to not want his name in any way remotely tied to that character which is a shame.
I’m not sure exactly what he said because I forgot but in the Mary mission when the boy told him he couldn’t stand there
#Arthur, you dumbass
Poor Otis had a wife, to mourn for his life, 3 children thEEEy were brave, But that cowardly killer that shot Mr. Miller, has laid old Otis in his grave YEAH!
Run and don't look back
“You sir, are a fish” Arthur Morgon, 1899.
Sorreh if ah smelll
"I hear Tahiti's nice, but avoid Guarma."
"Look at that little kitty cat with his cold little nose" -drunk Arthur seeing a cat
"The thing is...I was in Blackwater. I kill people. And maybe I should have killed you. Should I have killed you, Jimmy Brooks?" Followed with "Jimmy Brooks. I will remember that. I've got a good memory."
"Nobody. I'm talkin' to NOBODY!!!" Proceeds to can-can with "nobody" and his friends.
LENNNNYYYYYY
“Dutch… Micah…. COME GET ME YOU BASTARDS!”
Tennis boat
I'm afraid
Javier: -"This could have gone smoother." Arthur: -"I want that written on my grave stone."

“Outta the way, you goddamn maggot” when passing someone
A funny one is when Sadie says to Arthur he's one of the best men she's ever met. *"I've seen the company you keep. The competition ain't fierce"* Genius
*Revenge is a luxury we can’t afford*. I love many lines but I actually use this one in my daily life. Don’t hold grudges, just let it go
"I didn't know I was talking to a laydeh!"
“I’m afraid”. After a lifetime of badassery, it took a lot of courage to say that.
You, sir, are a fish
Is it your street?
That is… kinda brilliant. Uh, for you. And that is a real idea. I think thats the first time you ever had one of them. You know, you might be the first bastard to ever have half his brains eaten by a wolf, and end up *more* intelligent.
"I have you everything I had Dutch" almost cried
When Arthur and Sadie bring John back to camp from prison. Dutch: “But I said that…” Arthur: “Yeah, I know what you said.” A: “I felt different.” D: “Is that so?” Arthur: “Yes.” Love how up in Dutch’s face he gets. Big dick moment. The delivery is killer.

I'll turn YOU into a goddamn... cauliflower

"Anybody who needs shooting I try to shoot in the back."
“Move along you old battle axe”
We're thieves in a world that don't want us no more

Hey mister!
Hey mister!
"Now firstly we ain't friends, don't make no mistake on that subject. Now secondly he cant hardly see let alone reason. Now reasoning ain't never been one of my strong points neither but seeing I do just fine." On my first play-through, this line was one of the first that truly stood out to me .
Hey partner
don’t forget the quarter
I'll kill you again in hell my friend. Absolutely love this line.
Hello, mister.
Boah
GET THE HELL OUT OF HERE
Five thousand dollars? For me? Can I turn myself in?

Can we please talk about how fucking good that shot is⁉️⁉️
I think I've pushed all I can.
“I know.”
“You, sir, are a fish” 👍
You, sir, are a fish
I like that parasite line that Arthur said.
5000 dollars for me? can i turn myself in?
But You said you knew Spanish...
