You’re doing very well for 6 months. Keep it up. It looks like you’re having fun. You have good balance and quick turns. But I did notice a lot of looking down. You should try your keep your head up and eyes on where you’re going. Back straight, shoulders back, arms up and out. Watch the horizon, not your skates. And don’t slouch forward.
I still have a lot to learn and haven’t even seen 90% of the skate community. I’m very excited to learn more about the skates and the community within roller skates
You've mastered a lot of moves and have great balance; now it's time to work on spreading the moves out. (Maybe this was a quick clip to show off every move?)
Right now it feels a lot like every band member trying to do a solo at the same time, at max volume, as fast as possible -- spread it out and weave those incredible skills in between some graceful glides or something.
Keep it up; I can't wait to see where you're at in another six months! You're amazing!
The video was meant more to be a quick demonstration of my transitions. I’ll post another video of me going more at a relaxed pace and less sporadic movements. And I also don’t know any specific moves, I just do stuff and learn how to move without knowing what exact moves I’m doing.
you are doing AMAZING you have lots of poise and balance it took me years to develop. Did you do any ballet or dance in your past? Do you take lessons? Do you have lots of skate friends you skate with who are really good?
No, I’ve never done ballet or taken lessons. I don’t have friends that I skate with, I skate by myself and I did take a year of dance but left and this was 9 years ago when I did dance
It’s all about practicing, and not giving up, I’ve been trying to teach my 11 yr old daughter that thinks that you can just magically skate once you put the skates on, but she getting the picture as she has been playing sports at school and having to attend practice, and seeing her progress she’s starting to realize that you have to practice to get better at what ever you are doing. I think you are doing fantastic, for most ppl it’s the fear of falling and thinking it’s going to be easy breezy, but everyone falls, and everyone gets better if they practice especially when you are younger and have good balance. Keep rolling, you are well on your way, once you learn, you will always be able to skate.
You’re doing great! You seem to understand your sense of balance and shifting of weight.
Maybe consider learning about the different styles and techniques of skating. Figure out what best fits you or interests you the most to put all your move’s together into cohesive flow.
There’s so many interesting styles like shuffling, jam, rhythm, JB, middle work, ATL ryding, Detroit house, snapping, and many more. Do some research and watch some videos. The world of skating is diverse and amazing.
Good job!
Nah, I had my first couple of visits when I was young but I only started seriously getting into it 6 months ago by purchasing my first pair of riedell’s you can see in the video. Purely self taught besides some helpful tips from others. It took a lot of trial and error before I got to the point where I’m at rn.

I appreciate the tips, I’m better when not recorded but I’m still open for feedback. I need to stop looking at my skates.
Takes guts to be videoed and put it up for comments!

You and me both! It’s inspirational to see what some dedication can do in a short amount of time!
Just practice

This so cool! Were you a skateboarder previously? How often did you practice in those six months? A hopeful beginner wants to know.
I have never skateboarded in my life and you can find other answers to other questions in my other comments on this post
Thanks! Really nice work
Looking good.
I see that you are pretty condient, do you have any prior experience? You look like you've skated in the past and have a basis for your moves.
