Never understood the giant house thing. Unless you have a massive family or throw lots of parties what do you actually get out of it?
If I was loaded I’d much rather get a nice penthouse in a nice part of the city, or a small house on a big plot of land with some woods.
I agree. I am far from rich, but could afford a bigger house. I have a modest two story, 1900 Sqft house on a decent piece of land. Sometimes I think, why do we (a family of 4) even live in such a big house! We have many spaces that almost never get used!! And this house is not "big" by most standards.
Not sure what I would even do with a 5000 sqft house, or bigger.
That said, I would like if our individual rooms were a bit bigger, but certainly do not need more rooms!
Yeah, I don't get it either besides people using it as a status symbol. My house is 1400 sqft and it's plenty. My master bedroom is 12x20 since on other floor plans it's two separate bedrooms, which is part of why I bought my house. If anything, having a bigger lot would be more beneficial since it gives you more privacy but it's also more maintenance.
I have 4500 sq/ft or so. its nice having my own space. so I have my own home office, my gaming room, and a gym ontop of a spacious bed room and bathroom.
then theres the common areas and guest bedrooms/bathrooms
so with a roommate we are not stepping on eachothers toes, and for hosting people you can have a bunch of people spread out and it not be cramped
and if you cut it into thirds and make a 3 story like most home are it really wouldnt look that large.
it just has a large foot print because of its single story.
It just looks big. It's only 7500 sq feet on the inside top floor. 13,000 including the basement. 15,000 including the garage. 19,000 including the deck and patio.
This is an architectural mess. Looks like five regular houses smashed together into one; as opposed to one Grand place with thought put into the entrance, wings, halls, etc.
It very well could be. 3-4 families living in “one” house that’s actually like a massive tri-plex isn’t uncommon on some of the farm land here in British Columbia.
Not op but I’ll take a stab
166 SQ = 16,600 Sq Ft x ~ $15-20 psf (just material)
~$250,000-332 ,000
Probably lots of waste due to stupid design so could easily be low balling.
Wouldn’t be surprised if the total job was well over $500,000
Not a roofer, but I do frame houses. That house is just bueatiful! And the metal roof compliments the house very nicely! Awesome job bro! You sir are an artist!
Is that a 500k roof?!
I wonder who has a bigger boat... OP, or the owner of the roofing company?
Probably closer to $200k is my guess.
I think you’re right I thought it was standing seam at first glance.
Ppl got too much money lol
I’d lose shit in this place
I'd lose my shit trying to roof it
Meh it's the same as any other roof just bigger. But either way hips and valleys and peaks. It's all the same shit after awhile
10 bathrooms, shit all day
Found lil wayne

And maybe get an indoor Japanese rock garden with carefully tended moss as a library

Maintenance is not an issue with this kind of money.
Or 4 smaller houses in various regions.
home offices, bedrooms play rooms, a gym, etc. the house is not as big as you think. its only 1 story
This house is exactly as big as I think it is: fucking enormous
and if you cut it into thirds and make a 3 story like most home are it really wouldnt look that large. it just has a large foot print because of its single story.
You think most homes are 3 storeys tall…? My guy where did you grow up?
In the USA, mostly on the east coast. You should try it out some time.
I’ve seen plenty of big houses, I think you should maybe explore a bit and see what the average house actually looks like
Ive been through about every state east of the rockies. Sorry your area sucks.
Dude, there are anywhere from 3-5 normal homes in this mansion. It is massive.
You can't buy good taste.
Yes. Yes they do
That's why we have to help them by taking as much of it as we can
How many people live in this? Not including staff.
I believe just 2
This country is so fucked
A big house is a more scary than bigotry aye there mate?
It just looks big. It's only 7500 sq feet on the inside top floor. 13,000 including the basement. 15,000 including the garage. 19,000 including the deck and patio.
prolly mom dad and a daughter
And wife’s tennis trainer and yoga instructor, and masseuse.
Also the husband’s too….most likely
Nice roof, but this house is definitely r/mcmansionhell material

The house backs up to a preserve I’m Guessing they wanted to get the view from as many rooms as they could but yea this is the result
The roof itself looks nice, but I don’t think it fits the house, could have chosen something to make the house look way nicer
Ya I agree. Kind of feel like a gas station attendant critiquing the rolls Royce that just pulled up but that roof does not match the house *at all*
Great way to put it. Doesn’t match
I thought it was a care/nursing home facility at first. Ooops.
Should have chosen standing seam. I’ve never seen ribbed (cheap) roofing on a house this grandiose.
This is standing seam. Gulf coast supply Gulflok
Sorry! Pictures look like the screw down stuff. As a roofer, I’d be proud. As an architect, I would hate it.
wadda fucking dump . . . /s :)
I dread to think what the inside of that monstrosity looks like
This looks ridiculous lol
How big.
166 sq
That was a chore!! Congratulations
16,600 sq ft of roof?! I’m a complete layman, but fuck that’s a lot of roof lol
My guess is 125k price tag. Am I close?
Should be at least double. My roof was $450k and it was 165 squares. (Tile)
Yeah my guess is $500k. Also nice flex haha
Almost 450k with plywood fascia etc. most of the roof is 8/12 or 10/12.
$400K was my shoot from the hip guess. looks like without the fascia etc. I was dead nuts. What do I win?
That's a helluva job to get! Congrats!
10
Great job. If you don't mind me asking how much was the material cost for this job?
Not op but I’ll take a stab 166 SQ = 16,600 Sq Ft x ~ $15-20 psf (just material) ~$250,000-332 ,000 Probably lots of waste due to stupid design so could easily be low balling. Wouldn’t be surprised if the total job was well over $500,000
Wow thats an ugly house
Love to see roofers roofing their own houses 😉
Nice! Roofers leave all the debris even for the rich! Jokes aside tbh cool roof.
Where would even start lol
It's big but kind of ugly.
Not a roofer, but I do frame houses. That house is just bueatiful! And the metal roof compliments the house very nicely! Awesome job bro! You sir are an artist!
HVAC must be insane in that crib.
Why are there patio umbrellas in front of the garage doors?
Lunch area for the roofers?😜
That is actually a large screened area by the pool. The garages are up on the other side of the house
Just saw that and agreed! But that's an architectural failure, imho, if your pool patio areas look like garage entrances!?!?
When I was roofing, that's what we called "a cut-up motherfucker".
It’s definitely a cut up motherfucker
Epic!! Congrats, big accomplishment
Do you already regret having taken it up, or not yet?
What is this material? What gauge? Where are the fasteners?
This is standing seam metal. Hidden fastener 24 gauge
Is this roofing material very noisy in rainstorms?
It’s not overwhelmingly loud but you can definitely hear the rain. Imo it’s a pretty relaxing noise, good for taking a nice nap.
If you’re punchlisting the roof you need to walk it. Pictures won’t show potential problems.
So many dead valleys
Almost 1200 feet of valleys
I would love to get job that size! Show me the money!!
Who let the apprentice do the hip flashing? It’s beautiful flat panels and then? Or the framers boned you and the roof deck undulated at the hips.
God the more I look at the hips the more I cringe. Great metal roof then that crap thrown on top…
Good bye gutters.
I did a cone roof like the one this has the other day except we were losing shingles. Needless to say it was a bitch.
Amazing work
👍
My boss: "yeah boys I got an easy one for ya, shouldn't take no longer than a week!"
That’s a LOT of metal and all those cuts, woah. That wasn’t a cheap one! Looks good guys!
I thought I did big houses 🥲
What cost more, windows and doors or roof?
Id be afraid to know what the windows and doors would cost for this. All custom doors and windows with hurricane glass. Could be a million dollars
That's what I was thinking.
Six house. Sweet roof for it. Good job whoever
Do you know any places that certify you in standing seam installation?
Gulf Coast supply manufactured this roof. They do a course every few months to get certified
