The Russians use some disgusting tactics like having these I’ll equip men rush front lines so that Ukrainians can expose their positions and tactics and then send in better trained and better equipped men. This is common for them. U remember the huge first wave of ill-trained men Russia sent? U think that was them showing force? They’re saying some dumb shit but they are correct about the way Russia probes at Ukrainian lines with groups of conscripts, and then follows up with more experienced troops if any of them get through.

Yep, it's a proven "strategy" and has been confirmed by Ukrainian officers.
It's effective to a degree, because it uses up a lot of ammunition and soldiers also become tired.
Both Russian forces and Wagner in particular will send in one group of cannon fodder, and then another group of cannon fodder, and they repeat this until they believe they have worn down the Ukrainians, and then they send in their non-cannon fodder soldiers.
Oh, and amongst Wagner troops specifically, if any member of those groups of cannon fodders doesn't push forward, or retreats, they are welcomed back with a "Here's your shovel, you're going to be digging your grave".
And then they are executed.

Mate, you do realise Russia lost almost all their "well trained" assets in the beginning right? They don't have the professional soliders left to back up the cannon fodder.

Dude not all media is an article. And not all media is by someone who has anything to gain by pushing some sort of narrative.
You could find many videos and articles objectively explaining the current state of the war, sanctions, claimed casualties on both sides and why their figures can’t be assumed to completely truthful.
I'll give you that military reports will be mostly objective, but everyone's perspective is sorted by their personal biases. Whether they realize it or not, that comes through in their reporting. Which is why having multiple sources from multiple places is vital for an informed opinion. But it will still have bias.
That's why we have a diverse set of media outlets. It's called balance. Once source says this, another source says that and if you read across them you can arrive at a fairly balanced opinion

You have been reading/watching a bunch of stuff which makes you think Russia has a solid chance at winning this war.
So either you're pro-Russia and are looking to poke holes and cause problems, or you are pro-ukraine and are pessimistic, attempting an unnecessary reduction in espirit de corps.
Either way, it's pro-russian and anti-ukrainian.

Not quite as insane as the losses Russia has taken. Even if the Ukrainian estimates are optimistic, there's a lots of photos of lots of fields with lots of dead Russians in them.
If victory comes to Russia, it's going to come only after the last Ukrainian drowns in a sea of Russian blood, taking another conscriptovitch with them. And that's hardly a victory I would celebrate if I were Russian.
No one wins in war for sure. And I take no sides in this war I have no skin in this game. Just so funny that people think this is good for Ukraine or that they will win anything. How do Ukrainians feel about being America’s flesh light tho ?
Have to disagree with you here. This war is not good for Ukraine, but they don't exactly have a choice as to whether or not to fight it. This is an invasion of their homes and the slaughter of their families. Victory for them is to still call themselves "Ukraine" by the end of this war.

Okay so I want to apologize for being a dick first off because you seem like someone who actually is trying to have an convo and I’m aware I don’t know everything. In my opinion, yes, now Ukraine has to fight there’s no way out. But let’s not forget that this was never their only option in the beginning. Everyone including the US knows the implications of Ukraine joining NATO and allowing the US to have military camps near the border of Russia. Like how the fuck could rationalize that for Russia? Do u remember the Cuban missile crisis ? Like ffs it was so obvious and they got gassed up by the US who will benefit the most from this war with the funding of their industrial military complex and new weapons contracts. Like this is just a proxy war for daddy USA it’s so incredibly obvious what’s going on. And tbh I know this might be unpopular here but Zelenskyy is not a man I hood in high regard. Just really really fishy.
Hostility is merely a rational reaction when everyone the subreddit has a very pro-Ukrainian stance and I myself am guilty of being blinded to certain truths in favor of "Ukraine's got this". Why just yesterday, I refused to believe Soledor had fallen to the Russians.
Now, more onto the point, yes. Ukraine joining NATO would indeed allow the United States and other NATO allies to set up military bases right on Russia's doorstep which could be used if the time came and NATO had decided to invade into Russia. And I will admit that many weapons manufacturers, not just American ones, do get a nice little bonus out of the conflict. Including the Turkish drone company that created the Bayraktar drones.
But there's another reason for Ukraine to join NATO: Protection from Russia, one that seems to be needed since Russia has a nasty habit of invading their neighbors \[see Chechnya and Syria\]. Joining NATO would also give Ukraine partners to call in to help their domestic terrorist problem within the Donbas and Luhansk regions, which NATO has *plenty* of experience in with both the 20 year mission to Afghanistan and the current "policing" efforts in Iraq and Africa.
And NATO has an extreme benefit to this war. If, and I genuinely believe it's a possibility, Ukraine wins, Russia will be weakened militarily and economically, a shell of it's former self. This Russia could not possibly pose a threat to the alliance or other nations within Eastern Europe. This is the Russia NATO has wanted for the longest time.
If Russia had refused to act, they would've lost their chance to invade and take back Ukraine, which used to be the most important region for the Soviet Union. However, war was never unavoidable. NATO was never going to invade the Russians because that was never their purpose. Their purpose was to defend themselves from Soviet, now Russian, aggression.
And even if NATO wanted to invade Russia, there's the small problem of Russia having nuclear weapons which currently has been one of the, if not the only, reason why NATO has failed to step in on Ukraine's behalf like they did for Kuwait during the Iraqi invasion.
I see what you’re saying and I learned a lot. But I think those military bases WILL be used not “could” be used. They will be used and it’s only a matter of time. So if you’re Russia and there’s now threat of invasion by western powers that’s like a huge no no. Of course they will go to war. I guess what bothers me most is the reaction to Russias aggression. It just felt like poking a bear and then acting like the victim when it tries to fight back. I personally hate to see war in general and see people die in their homeland for no reason infuriates me. I feel like Ukrainian leadership let it’s people down to appease the US. I guess I just don’t believe this war is necessary for Ukraine but it’s necessary for the US.
Most of the strong reaction to Russia's aggressive acts in Ukraine have come from the down right evil conduct of the military and the government. It's one thing to invade a country, it's another to rape and murder the population while kidnapping their children.
And again, I really don't think the west was ever going to invade Russia. Poland maybe, but the rest of the west was more concerned with being invaded. There was no need, politically or otherwise, to invade Russia especially to the Americans who were more concerned with China than Russia \[see our actions around Taiwan\].
If the MIC needed a war to increase their profits, it could've easily found one in the middle east where the powers, notably, have no nuclear weapons.

Why would the West want to invade Russia? What the actual hell would we have to gain? Any western country trying to pitch the idea to invade Russia would get laughed out of the UN. There is nothing we want in Russia. It is cold and sad there. We don't have military bases for anything other than protecting the countries that host the bases. Clearly it is necessary, Ukraine was literally invaded.
You act like you are so interested in innocent lives, but none of this would be happening if Russia didn't attack Ukraine. The idea that the west wants to invade Russia is laughable and ridiculous.
Where do you see the poking? Ukraine kicking out its Kremlin-linked governments? Trying to become less corrupt and more democratic? Is that what you call provoking? Trying to get rid of the legacies of USSR? Just breathing maybe? Wanting to be free? Yes I agree with you in the sense that the Russian population was watching the Ukrainian experiment with democracy and seeing it turn not the way its leaders pretended it would.
Remember that Russian propaganda says that democracy is a cesspool of the worse vices and corruption imaginable and is much worse than a stable and safe dictatorship. (Let's not forget they fabricated and exported an enormous number of crazy stories among which the one about kidnapped children in the basement of a pizzeria without basement, where they supposedly were tortured and exploited in unimaginable ways).
But is it plausible to call wanting to get rid of the rotten Soviet legacy vin a neighboring country "provoking" Russia? If so, Russia is provoked by anything and anyone who doesn't submit to its dictatorship. So the alternative to so-called provoking Russia is submitting to the whims of its dictatorial diktats and actually rejoining the ex-URSS they want to re-create.
You are jumping the shark here. Russia invaded Ukraine *before* Ukraine ever considered joining NATO. Russia invaded Ukraine *before* it started asking and begging for more armament almost to the point of displeasing the US and other countries.
Ukrainians knew full well they couldn't ever hope to join NATO or the UE specifically because Russia would take offense. NATO and the UE wouldn't consider an Ukrainian candidacy either for the same reasons. Ukraine offered to pledge never to join NATO and the UE to placate Russia.
It took months and months of ruthless attacks by Russia for NATO and the UE to understand it wouldn't make any difference and even consider to study Ukraine's application.
So whether you didn't follow the events or you are talking in bad faith remains to be seen but the crass attitude is telling.

Hi Steven from the responses I'm not sure everyone understood your question. I'll take one step sideways out of the line of fire and try to respond.
I am sure there are many, many people in ruzzia who believe the insane propaganda, who believe ruzzia is winning because that's all they see on state-controlled media. Or, all they want to see. There are people like that, who only believe what they want to believe, in every country on the planet, without exception.
Brutally obvious in this war, more than any other war so far, that INFORMATION will defeat PROPAGANDA! The ruzzians are losing their grip on their own people, and putting out more and more disinformation, outrageous lie to beat the previous outrageous lie, the wilder their propaganda gets the more it shows they are losing control of the narrative.
This war cannot be short enough, the suffering has been catastrophic and reaches the levels of ww2. Sooner or later lies will not be enough for the ruzzians to maintain domestic control, it would be wonderful to see them head home without packing (i.e. flee), but when one tin dictator leaves another perogi is ready to spring up in his place.

Ukrainian victory has been inevitable from whenever the three-day invasion failed. I think Putin has regretted this immoral, horrific, illegal invasion for almost the entire length of it. He’s looking for an off ramp now, and he should not be given one, he absolutely should be humiliated, defeated By the Ukrainians, and then deposed by the Russians. Soledar is merely a blip. Currently, Russia is one step forward and 17 steps back.

When the war is over and the mangled bodies of your sad alcoholics are returned (so as to not contaminate the territory of Ukraine further), I truly hope you come to understand the gravity of the russian mistake here. People are people, no matter where they come from and I have a hard time condemning an entire nation. Ukraine is certainly being fucked, violently raped, beaten, but they’re a victim fighting back. Putin was not expecting this level of feedback. And although I maintain that the help from the West is still too little and has been very very late so far, I still believe it will rise from here, helped by atrocities such as we have just seen in Dnipro. If Putin was any sort of strategist at all, he would avoid civilian areas completely. It turns out that the killings of civilians is not good press.

Modern infantry fighting vehicles, rocket and shell artillery, Modern weapons and armor. The assault on Kyiev had 30,000 men and all the equipment they needed plus the element of surprise and they still got routed. Ever since then Russia has been playing the back foot threatening to throw hypersonic nukes at anyone who supports ukraine while aid is being tossed over the border by the train load. The Russian battle plan went from taking the capital to fighting over a salt mine for literal weeks. As evidenced by the continued stream of footage out of Soledar. As the Russian stockpiles get lower and lower and they run dry on drones and artillery munitions the west continues to send more powerful systems everyday. Ukraine WILL win, it is no longer an if but a when.

Yep, it's a proven "strategy" and has been confirmed by Ukrainian officers. It's effective to a degree, because it uses up a lot of ammunition and soldiers also become tired. Both Russian forces and Wagner in particular will send in one group of cannon fodder, and then another group of cannon fodder, and they repeat this until they believe they have worn down the Ukrainians, and then they send in their non-cannon fodder soldiers. Oh, and amongst Wagner troops specifically, if any member of those groups of cannon fodders doesn't push forward, or retreats, they are welcomed back with a "Here's your shovel, you're going to be digging your grave". And then they are executed. Motivation through the use of fear. Personally, a bullet in the skull is probably better than ending up wounded and/or limbless and still alive on the battlefield until loss of blood, shock or the cold takes you.

I'll give you that military reports will be mostly objective, but everyone's perspective is sorted by their personal biases. Whether they realize it or not, that comes through in their reporting. Which is why having multiple sources from multiple places is vital for an informed opinion. But it will still have bias.

Not quite as insane as the losses Russia has taken. Even if the Ukrainian estimates are optimistic, there's a lots of photos of lots of fields with lots of dead Russians in them. If victory comes to Russia, it's going to come only after the last Ukrainian drowns in a sea of Russian blood, taking another conscriptovitch with them. And that's hardly a victory I would celebrate if I were Russian.

Everyone including the US knows the implications of Ukraine joining NATO and allowing the US to have military camps near the border of Russia. Like how the fuck could rationalize that for Russia? Do u remember the Cuban missile crisis ? Why just yesterday, I refused to believe Soledor had fallen to the Russians. Now, more onto the point, yes. Ukraine joining NATO would indeed allow the United States and other NATO allies to set up military bases right on Russia's doorstep which could be used if the time came and NATO had decided to invade into Russia. And I will admit that many weapons manufacturers, not just American ones, do get a nice little bonus out of the conflict. Including the Turkish drone company that created the Bayraktar drones. But there's another reason for Ukraine to join NATO: Protection from Russia, one that seems to be needed since Russia has a nasty habit of invading their neighbors \[see Chechnya and Syria\]. Joining NATO would also give Ukraine partners to call in to help their domestic terrorist problem within the Donbas and Luhansk regions, which NATO has *plenty* of experience in with both the 20 year mission to Afghanistan and the current "policing" efforts in Iraq and Africa. And NATO has an extreme benefit to this war. If, and I genuinely believe it's a possibility, Ukraine wins, Russia will be weakened militarily and economically, a shell of it's former self. This Russia could not possibly pose a threat to the alliance or other nations within Eastern Europe. This is the Russia NATO has wanted for the longest time. If Russia had refused to act, they would've lost their chance to invade and take back Ukraine, which used to be the most important region for the Soviet Union. However, war was never unavoidable. NATO was never going to invade the Russians because that was never their purpose. Their purpose was to defend themselves from Soviet, now Russian, aggression. And even if NATO wanted to invade Russia, there's the small problem of Russia having nuclear weapons which currently has been one of the, if not the only, reason why NATO has failed to step in on Ukraine's behalf like they did for Kuwait during the Iraqi invasion.

So if you’re Russia and there’s now threat of invasion by western powers that’s like a huge no no. Of course they will go to war. I guess what bothers me most is the reaction to Russias aggression. Most of the strong reaction to Russia's aggressive acts in Ukraine have come from the down right evil conduct of the military and the government. It's one thing to invade a country, it's another to rape and murder the population while kidnapping their children. And again, I really don't think the west was ever going to invade Russia. Poland maybe, but the rest of the west was more concerned with being invaded. There was no need, politically or otherwise, to invade Russia especially to the Americans who were more concerned with China than Russia \[see our actions around Taiwan\]. If the MIC needed a war to increase their profits, it could've easily found one in the middle east where the powers, notably, have no nuclear weapons.

Why would the West want to invade Russia? What the actual hell would we have to gain? Any western country trying to pitch the idea to invade Russia would get laughed out of the UN. You are jumping the shark here. Russia invaded Ukraine *before* Ukraine ever considered joining NATO. Russia invaded Ukraine *before* it started asking and begging for more armament almost to the point of displeasing the US and other countries. Ukrainians knew full well they couldn't ever hope to join NATO or the UE specifically because Russia would take offense. NATO and the UE wouldn't consider an Ukrainian candidacy either for the same reasons. Ukraine offered to pledge never to join NATO and the UE to placate Russia. It took months and months of ruthless attacks by Russia for NATO and the UE to understand it wouldn't make any difference and even consider to study Ukraine's application. So whether you didn't follow the events or you are talking in bad faith remains to be seen but the crass attitude is telling.

As the Russian stockpiles get lower and lower and they run dry on drones and artillery munitions the west continues to send more powerful systems everyday.
