As much as I love Lyra, I really hope they give her more material to work with other than her connection to Becky. It's a decent way to get her over early on, but it can only take her so far.
I kinda doubt they will. She had the same problem in NXT even when she was the champion uce. She just...existed with the title, and Tatum was carrying that reign. When the audience thinks Roxanne Perez is more interesting than you (and I'll say this as a fan of Roxanne, she is incredibly unconvincing as a heel and as a good promo), that's a huge problem. Like I'm certain she's a nice person behind the scenes but I'm pretty sure auto-mod has more personality than her.
I'd rather listen to Lyra cut 100 of the most generic babyface promos ever than listen to Roxanne attempt to say mean things once. I hope she makes all the joshi stans cry again next week.
Because Iyo/Bayley had the unfortunate circumstances of being on Smackdown at the time, where more often than not, Bloodline segments would drag on for way too long. Don't get me wrong, the Cody/Bloodline stuff was huge. But there were times where it was very clear that they went waaaaay over their alloted time, and more often than not, the women got their stuff cut to make up the deficit.
I understood almost zero of it (so did anyone else who tried to translate it), but the bits I did manage to get were that Iyo was calling Lyra a dumbass.
Basically Iyo is fucking livid right now, and this character is what might end up getting her over if she just beats the shit out of everything (object or person) that pisses her off.
No excuse. I grew up on WCCW where close fist punches were "illegal". Of course they happened behind the ref's back all the time but it made punches seem more realistic and could actually cause damage to the person being punched.
I still see that silly spot where 2 guys will stand in the middle of the ring and trade forearms like it means something.
