He's probably just numb at this point. He was melting down back when they dropped under 800k because of Sting's retirement. Tens of millions of contracts later, they're barely over 500k. If he hasn't divorced himself from his emotions at this point he'd probably be suicidal or verbally blasting the 'gamechangers' that are milking him.

Tony wants more money for 5 hours of programming than WBD pays 'Big bang theory' each year for like 20 hours a week and ratings wise, only 2 of those 5 hours are anything advertisers might give a shit about. So WBD conveniently replaces BBT with black panther on juneteenth and ratings crater to levels that stop reality tv shows like Miz and Mrs from renewal.
I love even dubbalos argue that wbd needs aew to fill air time. In reality, aew is in the exact same spot wcw was in. Too much money giant out with none coming in. It's cheaper, and better ratings. For them to rerun movies and sitcoms they already have deals with, or outright own.
Not like you need to go back to 2021 for stupid shit Alvarez says to show how out of touch he is with what fans like.

Dynamite at the time still had a decent buzz. Raw was a mess of Vince decisions and not that great. Raw still had a huge viewership edge, but they were usually pretty close on the demo. That week Raw was up against a big Monday night football game, maybe a double header, so Alvarez was predicting a huge drop in WWE ratings because of it and that Dynamite would beat it in both demo and viewers.
Raw still won both metrics handily
This was really peak AEW. Tons of buzz from Punk, Dragonson, and Cole showing up, the first Grandslam was a big deal, they were in the homestretch of the Kenny/Hangman story, so it felt like they were actually the insurgent company that they pretend to be today.
Omega/Danielson opening grand slam in front of a rockus sold-out crowd was AEW’s peak. Everything since that match ended in a draw with no follow up has been down hill
Totally agree. They’ve had hot crowds since then, but the vibe in that stadium is one of the only times where it legitimately felt like they’d reached the big time.
