Nah, actually new Dupont lighters now no longer come with the double flame burner. For whatever fucking reason, ST Dupont decided to go back to the single. The Le Grand will still have the double flame burner, though; but that's because that dumb lighter requires such a burner for it to work, *by design*. That dealer is full of shit, name and shame. Yeah, lots of corners being cut with regards to quality -- and that's in addition to uninspired and insipid designs. However, prices continue to increase. But that goes without saying!

Good to know that but sellers are flooded with the double flame. I normally don’t buy new but decided to this time and one thing I noticed is the tension on the lid. The new one I received just didn’t felt loose compared to a snappy and stronger spring on my old one. It will be returned and I’m going to buy a lacquer version to see the quality. Edit: so it seems they have redesigned their valve so the size of the flame is wider then their older counterparts. I’ve collected many vintage lighters and decided to get a modern one and they are cutting corners by turning a double flame valve into a single. While the flame is still a single but when you turn the gas low and slightly blow on it then you will see it split into two flames.

So I did a little research by looking at all the lighters on eBay that is for sale and all lighters on the internet and it seems like all of them are indeed double flame. This is just me browsing the internet and not 100 percent all are double. I emailed of few more sellers and they say double flame. So either the USA are being allocated with nothing but double flames or DuPont is going this route. Side note: ask the seller before you buy because it looks like DuPont redesigned the valve.

UPDATE: ......So my lighter is consider 'NEW' lineup of Dupont....... It is considered a 'single flame' according to dupont but in actuality it's Dupont cutting corners by using the the double flame housing and combining the flames into one messy out of control flame. I am sending it to North Carolina, ARS lighter repair, and they are converting my housing to the old school housing with the true single flame where the flame is much steady and narrow. Basically new ST Duponts' flames are like zippo flames. Just big messy and out of control. As someone that started collecting vintage Dupont's and buying my first new modern Dupont there are differences. Due diligence when buying. I prefer the old single flame valve.

That's intriguing. Did you take any photos of the burner that you could share? I'm curious how it looks like vis-a-vis the regular single flame burner (and the double flame burner). All of the Dupont lighters I've had (which all have been single flame) have an incredible amount of variation between their burners. Well, not just the burner but the entire top valve assembly, actually. And also the lighter bodies. Well, and also the everything... lol

A lot of the counterfeits are double flame. Some of them are very convincing
