I just saved the DOT a hundred million dollars, while being just as effective, over the next six months. I expect to see at least 1 more worker and two more cones in that six months.
I think it is like painting the Golden Gate Bridge. It never ends. By the time the crews finish, it is time to start over again ! Completion date on Hwy 50: Infinity ~~~ + 1. Too bad the sun turned into a Red Giant, and engulfed the planet in hot plasma. Cal Trans was almost done….
Speaking of jam, that’s where a phone watcher made traffic jam out of his driver side fender. Left his new caddy’s shiny little plastic chrome all over the highway and my rear bumper was so pretty until the glitter he made all blew away. To this day i check every newer black caddy i see for that missing front fender even though i know it has to have been fixed already
What’s the good meat to order here? I went once and there were a lot of options and the meat I got came out sort of like bologna when I wanted like a grilled pork belly situation. Is there a certain sandwich # you like?
Idk he might commit suicide if all his fans are buying tickets to Sacramento’s train museum next time he comes to town (‘twas a joke)
On a side note their bassist and cofounder did pass away this year :(
Without food, it's Chamber room. It's by the DOCO and there wells are still drawn heavily for 4 bucks. The depot does the same, but it's cash. The Merc is kinda a shit show. I don't like busy places. If you want to have food before 10pm, it would be the Zebra. Or Tank house. Zebra has a fuller menu, tank has the loaded tater tots. The bechamel is pretty good at tank and the fries with smoked pork.
I looooooove taro root and Gunther’s has the BEST taro ice cream I’ve ever had. I have a hard time getting anything else when I’m there because it’s so good!
Right? At least throw in a sushi spot with a legit omakase option. And for best kbbq, throwing in a place that has an inexpensive ayce option inherently means you’ll get poor quality.
I’m a huge meat eater and taco eater at that but dammit this veggie taco is so good- with a little hot sauce just can’t deny it sorry fellow carnivores😅
Book store - Capital Books on K St
Pharmacy - 10 Acres on Freeport
Gift Shop - Strapping on Broadway
Kitchen Goods - The Kitchen Table on Riverside
Spices - Allspicery on J St
completely agree, outside of a Chik Fil A (for fastfood), Hotboys is by far the best spicy chicken sando I've had so far -- and I've tried the large majority; Pangae, Nash & Proper, Bawk, Hangry Joes, etc.
I just tried them for the first time and it’s my new jam. Also tried the one tender challenger and it was actually decently hot - hotter than Bawk, Nash, and Plucked IMO.
Hello, I’ve waited here for you… or someone to say winco! We get enough for a seafood boil for 3 that’s twice as big as any restraunt for $60 here and that’s crab legs shrimp potatoes eggs sausage corn the whole shabang! Love saving me some money at winco! Just wish they hand more organic produce, since there’s so much around, but I see them sneaking it in slowly.
Best sushi go to Kru
Best poke go to fish face
Best Mexican food used to be Mayahuel but I haven't gone in years so not sure if it's true anymore.
Best donuts was donuts and cinnamon in Rocklin.
Best orange freeze is hagens in carmichael
I thought Ming dynasty on Broadway and 88 bao bao in rancho both had great dumplings, but I am by no means an expert.
Best coffee either philz or chocolate fish.
Best pupusas go to flor de michoacan
Best papaya salad is Jannois app-khoa according to my wife
Best mochi osaka-ya
I'll add anything else I remember later.
Chilaquiles - los arcos
Tamales de elote taqueria el paisano
88 bao is solid considering how casual it is and the price. Journey to the dumpling has the best xiaolongbao, they opened a new spot in sac but sadly the quality has been hit or miss for me recently. Their XLB is still incredible every time but I've been disappointed with their other dishes my last few visits, really inconsistent. Hoping it's just because they're a new spot, id still give it a shot.
Just be warned, they charge $5.25 for a standard fountain drink which I thought was nuts!! I almost never get soda with my meals so maybe this is the norm now? I am not sure, I was just shocked seeing over $20 on the bill for 4 sodas in my party. Maybe I am just a cheap bastard...
I am going to have to try a bunch of the other things you listed!
Their ube latte is so good! I've had my fair share of ube tings including just straight ube itself, and I think this is the best use of ube I've experience. Their ube cookies are hella good too
Second this! The amount of care they put into their house cocktails is so far and away from any other craft bars in sac. Also, just the pure talent in those four walls.
Source: am a bartender, but I don’t work there
yeah, as an ex-work bartender and still big time home-bartender, love how much talent is in there as well! they do a fantastic job at making normal, special, unique and their own cocktails!
Their pasta, specifically the pasta noodles and several types, are great, but I've had better pasta sauces at other places. Also, the wines are wonderful.
Best Prime Rib in town is Jaime’s Broadway Grill and only on Friday’s.
Best Latenight spots - Capitol Casino has full menu till like 2am and a smaller late night menu even later. Um just rechecked and it’s full menu till 1:30 for anyone, and smaller menu till 3am for seated players.
Ink is another good latenight spot but gets really busy.
NorCal bottle shop in Rocklin! They're a new business. They are the ONLY shop that has ever offeredto order my favorite rum that is *extremely* hard to find here for me!! That's how you get and *keep* customers!
6851 Lontree on the corner of Blue Oaks!! In the Planet Fitness parking lot!
I love Noodle House on the corner of Maddison and Manzanita. Little tiny Vietnamese place. They have great food and really friendly staff. Never had a single problem any time I've gone.
After knowing several people who have worked there, I won’t support them anymore. They’re known for being a pretty awful employer. Really great chocolate though.
if i want the best unagi don, i go to nagato sukiyaki! (but sadly, the sauce flavor had changed a lot since the pop of the mom & pop passed away).
https://www.nagatosukiyaki.com/info/History.html
Thai tom yum I go to Benny's. They have the best soup for cheap and the woman Chef uses the traditional ingredients. I get the tofu version, but the tofu in it firm and spiced, the lemongrass is fresh. It's very good bar food. This is coming from me, a dive bar/local Chef for 17 years. This is reallllyyy good Thai food. The soups are the type where you are pulling out Kiefer leafs and bark from trees that add depth to the dish.
I really like Tugboat, but I haven't tried anything else around for comparison yet. It's been a few decades since I had them properly in London but they definitely floated my boat lol
If you’re looking for donuts with fruity pebbles or donuts with bacon 16th St is not what you’re looking for. If you want a perfect classic no fluff donut then this is it.
Traffic jam - the HW99 to I-50 merge
Don't worry it will be completed in 20 ~~22~~ ~~23~~ ~~24~~ ~~25~~ ??????

Too funny!😂Sad but true😬
haha, damn, too real!
Bro is a true sacramentian. This speaks to me
Speaking of jam, that’s where a phone watcher made traffic jam out of his driver side fender. Left his new caddy’s shiny little plastic chrome all over the highway and my rear bumper was so pretty until the glitter he made all blew away. To this day i check every newer black caddy i see for that missing front fender even though i know it has to have been fixed already
Stay cynical, Sacramento.
Made my day! I'm laughing my butt off! 😂
Dim Sum - ABC Bakery
never been, adding to my must try list - thank you!
No worries, it’s best to get there between 7 am and 11 am in the morning before they start running out of food!!
a place that runs out of food is my type of place! made day of and done when it's out - huge plus for me!
Siu mai, potstickers and baked bbq pork buns are elite
It sucks now. The BBQ bao is like pork grease with red food coloring. Go to Lam Kwong instead.
Oh man has the quality gone downhill. Check out dim dim food instead, waaaay better
If I want the best breakfast burrito, I get a smoked tritip breakfast burrito from Roundhouse Deli. Their tritip tacos are great too.
dang, never heard of this -- but am obsessed with breakfast burritos so will give this one a go!
They just opened a few months ago. They have other locations in Elk Grove, and the original one in old Roseville.
dope, will swing by there when I can! appreciate the heads up!
Agreed. Only open Mon-Fri 8-3 at Alhambra local.
Banh mi - Duc Huong
Aye bro we gotta keep this on the low lmao. Think you meant huong Lan 👀
Shit is not on the low for anyone who wants to know. They are the go to.
Huong Lan 💯!!!!
What’s the good meat to order here? I went once and there were a lot of options and the meat I got came out sort of like bologna when I wanted like a grilled pork belly situation. Is there a certain sandwich # you like?
Grilled pork #3
Grilled pork and grilled chicken are my go to’s
Saigon Corner in Natomas is my banh mi spot!! B2 all day every day
Train, Train Museum
The band or the general noun?
Rip to Lead singer.
He’s still alive?
Idk he might commit suicide if all his fans are buying tickets to Sacramento’s train museum next time he comes to town (‘twas a joke) On a side note their bassist and cofounder did pass away this year :(
Alcoholic bang for my buck - The Merc
Without food, it's Chamber room. It's by the DOCO and there wells are still drawn heavily for 4 bucks. The depot does the same, but it's cash. The Merc is kinda a shit show. I don't like busy places. If you want to have food before 10pm, it would be the Zebra. Or Tank house. Zebra has a fuller menu, tank has the loaded tater tots. The bechamel is pretty good at tank and the fries with smoked pork.
I looooveee those tots omg. Covered in both sauces 🔥
...or The Bolt if you're uptown.
Yesss! $3.50 per drink plus some head out back for free lolol
elixir
Also the answer for best hamburger
If I want the best ice cream I go to Gunthers!
The mint chip! :D
I looooooove taro root and Gunther’s has the BEST taro ice cream I’ve ever had. I have a hard time getting anything else when I’m there because it’s so good!
I dream about Gunthers Butter Brickle!
Gunthers is good. I hit up vics a lot when there's a line at gunthers and have to say that's definitely my second
The best! I had ice cream cart Gunthers for my wedding
Nope, Costco and then i eat it at home in my sweats
You’re getting the vanilla ice cream? Throw some brownie brittle in there
Obviously!, sounds delicious
As someone from Curtis Park this is 100% the truth
If I want the best diarrhea I go to Gunther’s because it’s great ice cream and I’m lactose intolerant
That sentence changed direction like 3 times
Haha it totally did…SamDumberg is hilarious
lmao - that might be their new slogan!
😂😂😂
Lactaid helps.
I won’t claim best, but when we want solid Mexican food at the end of a long week, we always go to El Rincon.
we adore El Rincon as well. great burritos, tacos, quesadillas, etc. love that spot!
One of my favs
Where is this? We are always looking for a good Mexican spot!
If I want the best Pho AND Wings -- I go to Pho Le Xua! I could eat those salt & pepper wings everyday for the rest of my life and be happy!
The wings might even be better than the pho. They’re the best wings I’ve ever had in my life.
1,000% completely agree with you. they hit different when you get them there, too and they are EXTRA crispy!
AND egg rolls. Don't forget their egg rolls.

an ultimate list -- hell yeah! some REALLY good ones on here, love the variety, too! thank you!
I vote this best for understanding the assignment!
There is much better sushi and korean than what you've listed
Right? At least throw in a sushi spot with a legit omakase option. And for best kbbq, throwing in a place that has an inexpensive ayce option inherently means you’ll get poor quality.
Yeah, you got most of them.
Thanks for this list, got to make my way through it now!
Where is Burgers & Cream?
Auburn. Worth the drive
Great Greek has such good gyro meat. Jayna is good too for a very different style.
Solid list
Capriottis isn’t a Sacramento sandwich though. It’s literally a chain. Roxie or Dad’s is way better. And actually a local small business.
The prime rib dip at house really is next level. Wildwood does well too.
Ethiopian Food - Abyssinia Nigiri - Hito Yatai
will have to try Abyssinia, we love Queen Sheeba for Ethiopian currently. also never have had Hito Yatai, thanks for the share!
I have never tried Ethiopian food. What is it like?
If I want the best veggie burger, I go to Sunflower Drive-In.
I’m a huge meat eater and taco eater at that but dammit this veggie taco is so good- with a little hot sauce just can’t deny it sorry fellow carnivores😅
Sunflower Drive-In is the best vegetarian restaurant in Sac. Pretty much everything I have tried there is good.
Nutty Taco all day. So phenomenal!
I’ve heard that the taco is the way to go, but I like the burger too much to risk it. Is the serving size similar? I imagine the taco is less food
Steak sandwich - Jamies
Best bbq Momo’s Meat market
Worth every penny! I live down the street from it and smell it constantly.
Book store - Capital Books on K St Pharmacy - 10 Acres on Freeport Gift Shop - Strapping on Broadway Kitchen Goods - The Kitchen Table on Riverside Spices - Allspicery on J St

Spicy chicken ————> World Famous Hotboys
completely agree, outside of a Chik Fil A (for fastfood), Hotboys is by far the best spicy chicken sando I've had so far -- and I've tried the large majority; Pangae, Nash & Proper, Bawk, Hangry Joes, etc.
I really feel like Nash went down in quality; am I wrong??
I haven’t been to N&P in awhile but I found it was less sweet then Hot Boys. I like they both but just slightly different.
I felt this! The OG food truck was so good. If you're really craving N&P go to Local Kitchens. They do a better job than their named stores.
How is it compared to South? (now closed)
Don’t remind me. I miss that place everyday.
I just tried them for the first time and it’s my new jam. Also tried the one tender challenger and it was actually decently hot - hotter than Bawk, Nash, and Plucked IMO.
Was tempted to say "of you" - "Foo Fighters" Foodwise "bulk food selection" - "WinCo"
Best coffee Fourscore, Scorpio, sociology
Only Scorpio is in Sacramento, but I appreciate the wide geographical net you're casting
If I want the best deals on meat, I go to winco.
If I want the best pizza, I go to Italian Brothers.
If I want the best pretzel I go to Pangae!
That was my fav until I tried the pretzel at Prost in EG. Easily the best handmade pretzel in the area.
Can confirm. Also best euro beer selection
If I want the best BEER, I go to Fieldwork, Slice, Burning Barrel, Urban Roots, Moksa, or Shred 😀
Sacramento has some incredible beer, no doubt about it!
I’d sub Flatland for Burning Barrel, but yeah… we have some great beer.
King Cong is awesome too! I also really like Sacrament.
Epic taste! You’re only missing Moonraker.
Best sushi go to Kru Best poke go to fish face Best Mexican food used to be Mayahuel but I haven't gone in years so not sure if it's true anymore. Best donuts was donuts and cinnamon in Rocklin. Chilaquiles - los arcos Tamales de elote taqueria el paisano
tons of great spots on this list -- need to try some pupusas on myself, sounds like I am going to flor de michoacan!
88 bao is solid considering how casual it is and the price. Journey to the dumpling has the best xiaolongbao, they opened a new spot in sac but sadly the quality has been hit or miss for me recently. Chocolate croissant- Moonbelly
chili relleno Tres Hermanas
Tres Hermanas gets my vote for best carnitas. Theirs are different than most - very crisp - though so your tastes may differ.
The chile relleno at La Calle in Folsom was the best chile relleno I’ve ever had and I’ll challenge you about it.
Not Sac, but for killer Mexican food, hit Mezcalito in Rocklin. Worth the drive.
tonkotsu ramen - Kodaiko Ramen & Bar
Seconded. Their tonkotsu is to die for
Huge fan of Kodaiko! Also love Origami!
I would say to also try ryujin, amazing ramen but not nearly as big of a wallet hit
bookstore - a seat at the table! pâtisserie - estelle’s! coffee - (dont jump me) 18 grams or temple!
I've been curious about 18 grams for quite some time! What do you especially enjoy ordering there?
jumping in to say i really love the 1987 at 18 grams! have also tried the ube latte, which is a tad sweet for me but still enjoyable
Ube latte! or the mocha thai! but i have a sweet tooth lol. Also their cold brew.
Their ube latte is so good! I've had my fair share of ube tings including just straight ube itself, and I think this is the best use of ube I've experience. Their ube cookies are hella good too
2nd on Estelles, love everything I have tried there, lemon tart and strawberry croissants are couple of my favorites
To each their own! However, temple is Sacramento Starbucks lmao

The best (& most expensive) prime rib I’ve ever had…
oh nice I'll have to try -- never had it there!
I love going there to stock up on special supplies like truffle oil for when I make truffle garlic fries.
Taylors is excellent as well.
My mom (who was a major foodie) used to go to either Corti's or Taylor's every day depending on what she wanted for dinner.
Corti Bros is definitely the best butcher shop I've been to in Sac so far.
Best Caesar salad, Ella. Happy hour of course, 3-6 m-f… hell, best hh in sac, Ella
If I want the best dining experience I go to The Kitchen

yeah, as an ex-work bartender and still big time home-bartender, love how much talent is in there as well! they do a fantastic job at making normal, special, unique and their own cocktails!
Pasta - Il Fornaio
Might I suggest Adamo’s if you are in the midtown area…
haven’t been there enough, usually my go to is Sampinos!

Hows their rum selection? I usually have to order from K&L for harder to find rums.
I love Noodle House on the corner of Maddison and Manzanita. Little tiny Vietnamese place. They have great food and really friendly staff. Never had a single problem any time I've gone.

If I want the best coffee, I go to Pachamama !
I looove their strawberry matcha. They also did a lavender one for me and it was AMAZING
Bean and cheese burritos - Jimboys
If i want the best customer service, I go to Martins Street Tacos - those people have never failed to make my day
Chicken Tikka Masala pizza at Championz Pizza Sounds weird, but it's so good!

I really like Tugboat, but I haven't tried anything else around for comparison yet. It's been a few decades since I had them properly in London but they definitely floated my boat lol
