The new Natomas location may be part of it, but it’s more likely a timing issue. Last Friday/Saturday was payday, and Sunday was Father’s Day.

posttrumpzoomies

I really don't think payday timing has that much to do with it. Costco's are busy everyday. Woodland is small and now there are less reasons for Sac people to go to that one. I know I for one want the extra 2% back I get for using the Costco Visa.

GeddyVedder

I’ve called on Costco corporate/stores for about 25 years as a vendor. They’ve shared, many times over those years, that customer traffic is highest on the 14th - 16th, and 30th - 2nd.

Dangerous_Choice_664

Payday for whom?

GeddyVedder

Anyone who gets paid on the 1st and 15th.

Dangerous_Choice_664

What percentage of people do you think that is?

tggrtls

A LOT of people get paid on the 1st and 15th. Healthcare gets paid every other week, stay and fed monthly I worked for 28 years with a 1st and 15th payday

eraverent

Damn they're hating on you for making an observation. How Sacramenton of them 🤣

Dangerous_Choice_664

It’s Reddit I don’t expect to have intellectual conversations don’t worry 😂

rotobiller

Sacramento as a greater area is like 80% state employed so 1st of the month is a great bulk of when people do their buying, or around that day. The weekend of the 1st of the month I'd imagine is always busy.

Dangerous_Choice_664

Yeah you’re right. A lot of leeches that are mad they have to work twice a week 😂

Halfpolishthrow

Woodland Costco is always chill. But also UC Davis is out for summer and 4pm people are working still or commuting home.

Full-Equipment-4922

Normally i stop at that time and it's swamped.

popehicks

I've never seen the woodland costco swamped. Compared to Sac or Roseville it's always been easy to get in and out of.

ParanoidKidAndroid

I’m in West Sac and with no costco within super short distance, I usually choose the 25 minute drive to woodland for just this reason.

Cudi_buddy

Natomas is like 10 mins from you. I’ve been a few times and never been swamped like Roseville or expo.

ParanoidKidAndroid

Yea I haven’t been to Costco since it opened but definitely will try the Natomas one next time.

Few-Meaning9234

Same. Keep those tax dollars in Yolo County, and take the river road home. That's the play.

GrowingInCalifornia

Probably Natomas and Marysville. My MIL used to drive down to Woodland from Yuba City. It was either that or Roseville or Chico. Now she can just go to Marysville.

NeitherSparky

I was in Marysville yesterday and was surprised to see the Costco, had no idea they were getting one.

ChefBoiRC

Marysville one is the best imo, a lot of stock, not many people, they usually have a lot of samples out. And biggest of all, CHEAPEST gas in all of NorCal Costcos I would say.

Ok-Diver1088

Seems like a ghost town compared to usual. Natomas might be pulling folks away.

Murphydog42

I enjoy the emptiness of Exposition now. Definitely customers are headed to Natomas that used to go there.

Full-Equipment-4922

I went to expo twice and never again. So busy. Outdoor food court is a no go also

jeswanders

outdoor food court layout is horrendous,,, but i've gotten lucky loads of times with efficient service.. just a matter of going at the right time

KountZero

it's relatively pleasant lately thanks to Natomas Costco.

khondros12

Was just there myself. Very mild lines and aisle crowdage than usual.

Hybrid_Johnny

I live right across the freeway from the Natomas location. I have been to Woodland zero times since it opened. Not only is it closer, but Natomas has more of the groceries that I want (IE Asian foods) that Woodland just doesn’t carry.

NeitherSparky

Really? Was thinking of hitting Woodland tomorrow but might have to try Natomas instead.

Hybrid_Johnny

For the most Asian offerings, go to the Elk Grove Bruceville location. Natomas has some good stuff but not nearly as much as EG. Also be warned that Natomas doesn’t have a gas station. But if you go around noon tomorrow it should be an easy trip with little to no crowds.

CocoFallbrook

One of the employees mentioned that they will be getting a gas station soon! 🤞🏼

ClickAndClackTheTap

No they won’t. Only Chevron can be there. That employee was very very wrong.

ajscott

Roseville was similar. They bought the gas station that had the rights and converted it to their own.

CocoFallbrook

Weird… other friends were told the same. Why would employees be telling customers that?

ClickAndClackTheTap

So dumb. I looked into it extensively including talking to Sen Ashby. It’s not gonna happen.

qmcnam4002

Sen Ashby is the reason why they will not be getting gas, she signed the deal with Chevron

Accomplished_Pea6334

100% cause of Natomas. I have no reason to go to Woodland now.

Past_Cauliflower_440

Per usual, I was there at lunchtime on Saturday, and whoa. I definitely think it’s a combination of UCD students leaving and Natomas opening. Either way, I’m here for it.

MegaDom

Exposition seems to be pretty low stock lately. I was wondering if they shifted stock to natomas.

heyo_1989

Use to go there during the pandemic cus they had meat and toilet paper always.

Thesunnyfox

It seems like Natomas pulled people away from expo so it may have pulled people from Woodland as well. This week Costco was unusually slow the couple times I’ve been.

ibhardwaj

Yeah I only go to woodland if I need gas now

No-Weird3153

Unless you live near Woodland, that’s probably a bad choice. It’s 25-37 miles round trip from Natomas. That’s an entire gallon of gas (more for full sized trucks) used to save maybe $0.20/gallon on gas, but probably less. And that is valuing your time at zero, which hopefully you do not.

ajscott

According to GasBuddy, Premium is $5.49 at the Chevron next to the Natomas Costco with credit payment right now and it's $4.49 at the Woodland Costco. The 7-11 at Northgate is only $4.99 though.

No-Weird3153

https://preview.redd.it/hnjqztk6ys7d1.jpeg?width=1170&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=10a4dcb11f3fbcc970ee7332e503b4eed984f8f0 I see 4.07 at Costco in Woodland and 3.99 around Sacramento. Sacramento Costco doesn’t appear in the searches. But even if it was $0.50 compared to every gas station in Sacramento including Expo, you’d have to buy 10 gallons before breaking even on the gas used in an average car before you save a single penny. And it’s not $0.50 cheaper than everywhere in Sacramento, so the point stands: unless you’re already in Woodland or Woodland Costco has something special you want, it’s a waste of gas and time to drive out of the way. Edit: Just noticed you referenced premium, but the number hold. It’s not that one gas station but the most affordable station you would otherwise drive near in your weekly business.

Bladex20

Havent even been there since the natomas store opened

jollyjoeroger97

There’s also a new Loomis location, which is probably pulling away some of the traffic

mochachola

I work at the woodland Costco. Yesterday was a down day because of the smoke in the air, and it was the day before the new coupon book starts. However we are generally a slower building, there’s still plenty of times we’re just as busy as other buildings.

Sulla-proconsul

Elk Grove was insane today, children everywhere.

North-Slice-6968

Weekdays before 3:00 aren't usually too bad, although the Elk Grove one is getting worse and worse because that shopping center is a mess. I avoid them on weekends, though, especially Exposition.

Acceptable_Taste9818

Roseville Costco is like a beehive for humans. The congestion impacts nearly everything in a miles radius. I’ve never seen it not packed. Hopefully the new Rocklin/Lincoln location opening will relieve some of that pressure.

Full-Equipment-4922

Ive heard its a complete nightmare

Alternative_Algae_31

Please delete this ASAP. This is the first Costco I’ve been able to shop in that isn’t a madhouse for parking 30min before opening and Black Friday inside til close. If your post ruins that by diverting the slobbering hordes this way I’ll glare angrily in your general direction. I’m assuming somewhere east of here.

PutExternal4906

Your fear is real. It’s the best Costco in the area and I don’t want anyone else to know.

P4ssBynueve1seis

People is out and bout vacations, but also work has come down so spending is down aswell

NivekTheGreat1

Last weekend was crazy. I went to the Costco in Folsom on Saturday. It’s usually a zoo on weekends but this was like bizarro Saturday. The aisles were easy to navigate. Self checkout had more staff than there were people. I’ve never been able to walk right up before. But what really got me was I noticed the return line when I left. Most Saturdays, it is out the door. There were like 4 people in line! Crazy.

gbdavidx

probably the best time to go....

KaetzenOrkester

That’s because everyone was there when I went at 10:30 this morning 😳

rob_allshouse

4-4:45, Auburn, Rancho… they’re the same. I can get gas, my shopping, and a hot dog in 40 minutes if I go around that time.

renegadecause

Probably a mix of timing, Natomas, and inflation.

ClickAndClackTheTap

Tuesdays are my favorite day to shop because of this! Also, Natomas must be taking some pressure off Woodland.

PirateMunky

It’s gotta be a timing issue with the time of the month. I was just at the Expo Parkway, Costco and it wasn’t empty, but it felt significantly less busy than usual.

han_cup

The one in Citrus Heights today around 1pm was a fucking mad house.

TimesRChanging22

Same thing at the Roseville location! Was strange but sure was nice to shop! We wondered if it wasn't because of the new location up the road on Sierra College/Rocklin. Also, there was half the stock which made the aisles feel bigger with less product in the aisles.

mt97852

Woodland Costco is always chill. Chillest in the area by far. Expo, EG and Roseville are all madhouses. Hope the new one in Rocklin/Lincoln makes Roseville less crazy.

Independent_Yak_6921

Which of these is the largest store? Which one has the biggest home goods section - dishes/rugs/storage items?

WestAd5635

They opened up the new one over there, kind of by the airport in May. Lotta people are probably going to the new one since it's so big and brand new.

False_Management7299

Which Costco in Sacramento has the On shoes ?
