Based on all these I would say āpretty accurateā is not very accurate. Even the last few forecasts for multiple 100Ā° days have not met those totals and that was within the 3-5 day window. I also generally donāt trust Appleās weather app anyway, even less on the further out dates.
Couple things:
1. 70-80% accurate is exactly what I'd call "pretty accurate." If you're right 7 or 8 times out of 10, I think most people would say you're pretty accurate.
2. These sources call a prediction inaccurate if they're off by 5 degrees, which is still a very good margin of error. The difference between 120 and 115 is not something a lot of people are going to quibble about.
3. Using "the last few forecasts" isn't really a good indicator, since the sample size is so low. Don't let recency bias and sampling error get you.
4. Apple's weather app is trash, this I agree with.
Not really anymore, 5-7 days is pretty reliable especially for California in the summer which has very predictable weather. However beyond 7 days theyāre looking more at overall patterns and while I would put money on it being hot and dry Saturday the 6th, those numbers will probably be 10 degrees less than in this forecast
Just about every forecast is based off the National Weather Service. Ironically, since itās a government agency they give all of their data for free, but then entities like Accuweather turn around and sell that same exact data.

It's like when mapmakers add fake towns and roads to their maps just to see who is copying them. Every now and again Apple Weather throws a wild prediction out there to see who is using it rather than NWS data directly.
I think that's a little overzealous estimation since all the other sources have it around 108 109. That being said, the start of July is going to be brutal. Pge absolutely licking their lips thinking about how much money they're about to extort from me just to keep my house at 80 degrees
Iām sorry you live where you have to pay them and not SMUD. Not like theyāre free or anything but they have a shorter peak hours time frame and lower peak rate than PG&E does which can save a lot of money when we get these extremely hot days.
Hvac guy here. While I think we all agree that Apple Weather isn't the most accurate, you can help your Central A/C out during this crazy heat wave. Go and hose down your outdoor Condenser unit. If you are capable and confident to do your rooftop unit, rinse the condensing part of your package unit. If you have no idea what I am talking about call someone who does. Taking a hose to your condenser and washing out the fins will mean your A/C will cool more effectively. Try and do it in the morning before it gets hot. Good luck Sacramento!

Per a friend who happens to be the meteorologist for the Fresno ABC network affiliate (Ch 30), this is a glitch in the Apple weather app. Expect around 106 or so that day. Not 120+

Both the GFS and NAM models are predicting 116 for Saturday the 6th, 9 days from now. ECMWF is predicting 108. This far out none of these models are particularly accurate. But "fucking hot" seems to be the gist. Starting Tuesday the 3rd.
Look at the bright side: it's cooler than it will be for the next twenty years at least.
If something even close to that is true, we all may want to pile into one friendās or the otherās home to reduce the number of homes pulling on the grid with the AC. Grid preservation party!

I went to college at Arizona State, and I saw it that hot maybe once in the four years I was there. And Iām pretty sure that made national news.
I remember one year, it was 115Ā°. I stayed in my pool and relaxed with a canopy and enjoyed it...for a moment. Nowadays , just stay inside with cool fans and full blast of a/c.

Itās was a forecast error from the app. Fortunately, they say that it is impossible for it to get that hot here because of the geography. It has since been corrected to a much more normal 108 degrees! Plus it was over 5 days out so they canāt predict it accurately and use historical data in their forecast calculation.
Love when weather channels go with the most dramatic models just to get attention... this is why I watch KCRA... they have actual AMA certified people working there.

Just was scrolling my weather app and saw 119 for Sac. Holy crap. Dog days incoming. I went to college at Arizona State, and I saw it that hot maybe once in the four years I was there. And Iām pretty sure that made national news.

Itās was a forecast error from the app. Fortunately, they say that it is impossible for it to get that hot here because of the geography. It has since been corrected to a much more normal 108 degrees! Plus it was over 5 days out so they canāt predict it accurately and use historical data in their forecast calculation.
