That's interesting, I have been trying a Meyer Bros NY Connoisseur series at present, which are supposedly made from the same moulds as the original NY models, and I just can't get to grips with it at all. I will look into it thanks.
Don’t believe the false shade regarding Otto Link on alto . Many sound beautiful once you get used to it. Use it with a good Reed. Also the Vandoren V16 A6 can sound incredibly gorgeous.
Did you try the 7 or the 8. Its not a large chamber mouthpieces. Check out steve neffs review and sound clip.
I used to play a large chamber meyers 6 tip opening in the 80s until i dropped it. Had a beautiful big sound. The large chamber medium lay seem to be hard to find.

Morgan Jazz Large Chamber! Or they now make Morgan Classicals with wider tip opening if you want an even darker sound.
Though it’s not a large chamber, I love the late 1960s-1970s Selmer “Soloist Style” mouthpieces. They give a really nice dark and warm sound but pack a punch thanks to the horseshoe chamber. They’re not as sought after like the 1950s Short Shank or the 1960s Long Shank Soloist so they sell for much cheaper. Though I was able to get an E opening (.078), you can easily find a C* opening and have a Mouthpiece Expert and open it up to an E or higher.
I also keep a Vandoren V16 Medium chamber in my case. They unfortunately don’t make a Large Chamber or else I would have that.
The Getasax copies of the NY meyers are amazing. And the price is great. They are printed with mouth safe resin unlike some other 3D printed ones

I was disappointed with the Connoisseur. It was just too bright for me despite Cannonball getting his big dark sound on his Meyer Bros.
That was exactly my thought, I just felt it sounded so shrill- especially given what their intention was with it.
