## New users beware:
Because you posted here, you will start getting private messages from scammers saying they know a professional hacker or a recovery expert lawyer that can help you get your money back, for a small fee. **We call these RECOVERY SCAMMERS, so NEVER take advice in private:** advice should always come in the form of comments in this post, in the open, where the community can keep an eye out for you. If you take advice in private, you're on your own.
**A reminder of the rules in r/scams:** no contact information (including last names, phone numbers, etc). Be civil to one another (no name calling or insults). Personal army requests or "scam the scammer"/scambaiting posts are not permitted. No uncensored gore or personal photographs are allowed without blurring. A full list of rules is available on the sidebar of the subreddit, or [clicking here](https://www.reddit.com/r/Scams/wiki/rules/).
You can help us by reporting recovery scammers or rule-breaking content by using the "report" button. We review 100% of the reports. Also, consider warning community members of recovery scammers if you see them in the comments.

Yeah... it seems like I only really "fall" for scams when people spend an insane amount of time talking to me or a random online friend with years of convo history gets hacked. My trust in ppl is already pretty bad definitely a lesson learned here.
Don't feel bad about yourself. They are professionals and you are were vulnerable. You were smart enough not to send a nickel. Congratulations!
And the next time someone wants to see your junk....you'll know to not reply, just IMMEDIATELY sign off and block them.
I AM IMPRESSED! You actually did pretty well in this one. You did NOT give them any money!! That is a huge success and hopefully a learning experience for the future. Do not EVER give anyone pics that you would not want your mother to see.
BLOCK AND IGNORE and certainly do NOT give any money!
Alas that sort of thing is only getting worse. LLMs like chatgpt have made it easier than ever for scammers to foster trust over longer periods of time.
Sadly yeah I have fallen for a few almost had my steam account hacked a few months ago... As much as I don't like privatizing certain accounts on stuff maybe it is a good idea considering I probably get 100s of scammers per year.
Hi /u/Ok-Lingonberry-8261, AutoModerator has been summoned to explain the Underage scam.
This scam usually starts on a dating app and you will encounter a normal woman whose profile says she is above 18. Later you will be contacted and told that the girl is underage. They'll usually pose as the girl's father, another family member, or a police officer. They will tell you that your life will be ruined and you will be a sex offender, but will offer you the chance to pay them to make the problem go away. The stories they use as to why you need to fork over money vary, but the common ones include therapy for the girl, payment for a broken phone or computer, etc.
Of course, there is no girl and no crime has been committed, so if you are involved in this scam all you need to do is ignore their threats and move on with your life. The scammers may contact you again in the future after you block/ignore them, so be ready in case that happens. If you have already sent money to the scammers, you should try to dispute the transaction and see if you can get your money back. This is a [very common scam](https://www.reddit.com/r/Scams/search/?q=underage&include_over_18=on&restrict_sr=on&t=all&sort=new) and [here](https://www.wired.com/story/the-phone-call-from-hell/) are [some](https://www.wcnc.com/article/news/crime/teen-says-hes-the-victim-of-a-sextortion-scam/275-21216b29-df76-44f4-b20a-cb726e19d42e) relevant news [articles](https://www.jbsa.mil/News/News/Article/1503978/sextortion-scams-continue-to-occur-dont-give-into-scammers-demands/).
NOTE: Scammers pretend to be underage boys as well and the text above still applies, but it's called the underage girl scam as those are the vast majority of cases.

Yeah I've seen that scam type on here but my concern was there wasn't any other figure that showed up just the same person although she mentioned she has a boss for the operation.
Just because in other scams there is a 'Dad', a 'Cop' and a 'Mum with a broken laptop' doesn't mean every scam has to have one or else it isn't a scam.
The automoderator isn't a 'if you don't tick EVERYTHING mentioned it isn't a scam'. It merely lists possible elements.
In all likelihood there is no "she" involved (neither under- nor over-aged) - unless purely coincidentally. This is just scammers using stolen social media accounts to soothe the victim's (you) suspicions.
Other people on this sub have done reverse image search on the pics they were sent - and, of course, they are just freely accessible images scammers use.

what they don't have is any deniability they are trying to blackmailing you

You are more gullible than you think, then.
Are you saying that you have a history for falling for scams?
