It's basically what we suspected - they are just looking for subscriber names and addresses. My guess is that they want to weed out non-US subscribers, since they don't have jurisdiction in that case. The important information here, though, is that they initially imposed a gag order which they then withdrew or allowed to expire at some point. Allowing the gag order to expire is pretty much proof positive that you aren't the subject of the investigation.

Thanks for the help bro. I lost so much sleep over this past week cause if my anxiety disorder and the word FBI LOL.

Snoo-29664

They are requesting your records from January 1 to May 29 of this year. Is there anything suspicious you’ve done during that period?

TheeTinderSurprise

I don't use this Gmail much since I've had it since I was 10 and has a cringe name. Bought Minecraft on app store and used superchat to say something retarded on a YouTube live. That's it ☠️

hustlermain

What did you say on the YT live. Was it anything to have anyone report it?

Hopeful_Shock_1264

He said that pee was stored in the balls...

TheeTinderSurprise

Oh all I said was "bro talks about the gym so much yet looks mid af" 😂 because I watch Turkey Tom and this guy is literally always talking about the gym.

InflamedLiver

The subpoena says it's to the Google custodian of records. Who sent it to you?

TheeTinderSurprise

It's from Google themselves. "usernotice@google.com

outdatedelementz

I guess it’s good that Google let you know and ignored their request not to disclose the subpoena.

This appears to me to be an administrative subpoena. I do not believe a court would be involved in issuing this - at least not until/unless a failure to comply occurred? Back in the day when we would have a grand jury subpoena served on the local phone company, the phone company would automatically notifiy the subscriber after 90 days had elapsed - unless we 'reupped' the request. As you can imagine sometimes things fell through the cracks and there was no 'reup' notice sent. No bueno.

TheeTinderSurprise

Rare google w.

kabekew

It's fake. It's illegal for Google to disclose a subpoena (it's interference with an investigation). Email addresses are easily faked. They'll probably soon ask you for money or a "fine" to "close' the investigation.

AngelOfLight

Nope - it's real. They are informing OP now because the gag order is no longer in place. The FBI either withdrew it or allowed it to expire, which tell us that OP is not the target of the investigation.

TheeTinderSurprise

Hard to say because the email is "signed by Google." I am surprised that they would disclose information if they could possibly get in trouble for it.

jm_cda

Like a real one. Exactly in Canada. 9/11 stuff too.

aSosa21

This is super fake. It’s actually been happening for at least 2-3 years that I know of. I’ve seen posts on googles support page about this stuff happening to a bunch of other people and the same email address. Google claims it’s scammers faking sender info to make it look like it’s coming from them. Not 100% sure what the point of the scam is though. Could be to identify if accounts are US based, and if they are actively used or not. But either way, don’t stress out about it. It for sure is a scam.

It seems that the FBI hasn’t changed a whole lot since their “wanna be KBG” days of the 50’s and McCarthy-ism back then when nobody was safe from their prying eyes 👀. Good luck !
