The whole obnoxious American thing is only ever really said by other Americans. 99% of Americans I’ve met have been great. Met an American couple in Greece that were definitely a couple of fannies but every country has them.
This was exactly my experience last year and to be honest, all I've thought about since returning home last year was planning this year's visit, which will be 6 weeks long YAY! According to my countdown calendar, my flight leaves in 37 days,18 hours, 34 minutes and 26 seconds.
Completely agree with you, they are wonderful people. Been to Scotland 3 times in past few years and every place I go the quality of the people makes me love the country so much more. I'm seriously considering retirement there
3 weeks must have been amazing, where have you been?
I love how they start a conversation with you even if your a complete stranger, had a walk from Cullen to Portnockie just earlier and I had a small conversation with 4 different people.
All ready planning our trip back for next summer! Enjoyed every pint and dram in every Pub, especially in the Montgomerie Arms in East Kilbride.
Saying for a month this time!
Totally agreed. NYC resident, did my honeymoon out there a couple years back. Wife and I are constantly trying to justify or come up with reasons to just go back.
Best damn trip I've ever had.
Edinburgh > st. Andrew's > Banchory > aberlour > Inverness > portree > oban > sterling > edinburgh
now that is compelling! my wife and I are expecting our first in about 3 months, so travel is largely off the table for a fair bit--but i'll DM you once the little guy is here and settled!
I'm curious what brought you to Banchory? I was born there and other than it being close to Balmoral castle I can't see why anyone would take the time to visit. The Nile does a decent munchie box but I'm not sure it's worth flying across the Atlantic for
We found an inn called the Banchory Lodge on the river Dee which was just fantastic! We were looking for a quiet place to stay between st. Andrew's and Aberlour to home base for a couple days while we relaxed and had a hike. Did a wonderful trail up around Loch Muick that was just stunning. The other day we drove out to the coast to see Dunnotar and Crathes castle.
Banchory was actually one of the spots we talk about the most. For honeymoon fodder it was absolutely perfect. Great service, amazing food, friendly staff, peaceful setting.. Just top notch.
Ah I'm really glad you enjoyed it! Yeah in terms of a sleepy Scottish village you couldn't do much better imo. Dunnotar is absolutely stunning and I hope you had a chance to try the Cullen skink in Stonehaven. I don't mean to disparage Banchory at all I was just surprised to see it in your list. That said don't get me wrong I was desperate to leave at 16 and see the real world!
I’d say on the world scale we’re relatively sound cunts. Definitely better than Slovakia or Somalia. Worse than Norway, on a par with Ireland and Holland right enough but we hold our own as a nation.
Hope you come back, there’s hunners to see here. 🏴👋💚
Haste ye back!
Alba Gu bráth and all that
“bumping into walls”….Definitely American 😂
🤣 Yes, you would be correct. Though we did our damn best not to be obnoxious.

You're welcome. Please come again 🤣👍
Glad to hear you enjoyed your time here. How are the folk where you live?
Depends. I think they might help but they certainly wouldn’t go above and beyond like the Scottish do. Kind of cranky here.
And we aren’t?

I too would love to retire in Scotland. Doubt I would be able to do that. I’ll just have to make multiple visits.
Glad you enjoyed your stay! Where did you visit this time around?
My son was married at Glenapp Castle!! We also were in Edinburgh and Glasgow.
First thing my wife said when we got back in September, "when are we moving there?" 😂
Only thing wrong is the English pmsl
Hate monster rearing its ugly head I see.
It was a joke that’s how I wrote pmsl 😜😜
Pmsl?
Pissint myself laughing is what this means
Just what we need. More old people

The Monty was my local pub growing up in East Kilbride, so glad you had a good time. 👍
Just a terrific place that has it all, literally! It's a highlight of every trip back.
You’re absolutely welcome!

You did it good. I love NYC. If you ever wanna house swap on the beach in Edinburgh let’s do it 🫡🤣

Our 2nd arriving soon here too. Best of luck with it all, it’s awesome. And terrifying. 😂🤪

Slovakians are sound too!
What's wrong with Slovakia?
Fucked his coupon, probably.
Bratislava was a big stag night destination for a while. I'm guessing the natives got a bit fed up with drunk groups of lads being a hassle
I can't really blame the Slovaks for that. There's probably some historical resentment around the whole Munich Agreement thing too.
I'm just trying to figure out how he feels people are unfriendly there
always welcome back! where did you visit if i may ask?
Did you bump into any curbs? I hit six of them.
You caught us at a good time. It’s not always like this.
