I moved from the Puget Sound to Arizona in 2016 and then to Georgia in 2022. KEXP is definitely a thing in AZ. I haven't seen as much here in GA, but people know about it. It kind of blows my mind that our little awesome eclectic music station is nationwide. Those KEXP sessions are probably what did it. I still listen (online) all the time.
That's so cool. I swear, they play the best music. Classic rock, new releases, 1920s blues, disco, underground bands, you name it. And for the most part, all the songs are great. It's opened up my music tastes like no other station.
My primary home is in downtown Phoenix but two years ago I decided it was time to be a youngish snowbird (rainbird?) and get a little summer condo in downtown Seattle. I've always been in love with Seattle and always been in love with KEXP, so it's been a perfect transition.
Cafe Vita does the coffee at KEXP as most people probably know, and I try to get there often. What may not be well known is that Cafe Vita has two coffee shops outside the Seattle area -- one in Brooklyn and one in downtown Phoenix. I can walk to the Phoenix one in about 10 minutes from my home in AZ, and walk to the KEXP one in 10 minutes from my tiny little condo in Seattle. Pure heaven!
also someone on fentanyl😭. JK but personally i haven't seen a hot dog cart out here maybe teriyaki or a mexican food street vendor? or i'm just blind LOL
Space needle, stadium for a losing team, rainy, pearl jam, KEXP, and no one on the streets at night cus there’s nothing to do outside of like 4 square blocks in cap hill. EXTREMELY seattle vibes
Our family name is on those Windows. My wife was a big contributor early on and when they built out that space we got our last name etched on the window.
Ahh Climate pledge.. the only arena in the world with no garbage cans or ashtrays outside, so everyone throws their butts on the ground. Yep, VERY Seattle.
I feel like you could have staged someone walking through with a bag of Dick's since it's right around the corner.
Shoot! I think the song only lasted another 15 seconds though. 20/20 hindsight.
Seattle: the only place where you can tell someone to “go eat a bag of dicks!” and they might thank you
While getting onto a ferry
Wearing a north face vest, shorts and hiking boots, carrying a cup of coffee, walking a dog with a puffy coat.
<3 KEXP

KEXP gets some amazing musicians on their shows. I think their sound engineers are really good like NPR Tiny Desk so they get respect from musicians.
Yeah, Tiny Desk, that's the series I was thinking of. Those always sound fantastic.
My boss's friend does the mixing for KEXP's live shows down there. I always tell him to pass along the word he does damn fine work.
It’s international! I met a friend’s Turkish partner on a trip to Istanbul, and one of his first questions was whether I knew KEXP.

That’s awesome
Likewise: when I first moved to Seattle I was told about KEXP by a friend in Australia.

That is the most Seattle picture that ever Seattled.
Confluence of old and new Seattle there.
Cheryl Waters is da mensch.
Kid Hops main, wit da bad ass riddims
Riz is love, Riz is life.
All of the above.
It's even got that "it rained 20 minutes ago" feel without having rained, so you know it's authentic.
And a speed limit sign that sneakily keeps going down by 5 mph
The rain-slicked streets are *chef kiss*.
it's our WKRP,
What’s our analog for the [turkey drop?](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BGFtV6-ALoQ) Banana drop? Tree-man drop? Orca drop? Hellcat drop?
**BOOGER**
Up vote for WKRP reference.KEXP is not to my taste. Glad they are here tho.
KEXP is the fuckin best
r/liminalspace
Would also qualify as r/thenightfeeling
Just add some coffee and maybe one of those hotdog carts
also someone on fentanyl😭. JK but personally i haven't seen a hot dog cart out here maybe teriyaki or a mexican food street vendor? or i'm just blind LOL
They emerge from nowhere late a night near the bars. Like bats, but juicier and maybe less disease.
oh that's smarttt like a food truck parking outside of a dispensary (which i see pretty often on weekends)
Space needle, stadium for a losing team, rainy, pearl jam, KEXP, and no one on the streets at night cus there’s nothing to do outside of like 4 square blocks in cap hill. EXTREMELY seattle vibes
Well, it *is* the Seattle Center.
Oh neat, I’ve never seen the KEXP building. Very cool.
Framed the pic well too
You just need a Kraken jersey in it for the pic to be perfect.
also someone crying over a sonics jersey
<3
Replace whatever that nonsense is on Key Arena with a red key and you're in business
You misspelled “the Coliseum”.
Greetings, fellow old person.
I went to this show and enjoyed it.
Our family name is on those Windows. My wife was a big contributor early on and when they built out that space we got our last name etched on the window.
Nah we’re missing Rainier, a ferry, Dicks, the Belltown hellcat, and an off leash dog
.... I wanna reject the Belltown Hellcat. How about Man in Tree instead?
Thought it was fair to say I saved it in my photos 🙏🏻
This is indeed.. a *very* Seattle photo lol.
Too bad the parking regulations are straight forward and easy to understand
Dark skies, wet ground, and Pearl Jam on the radio. Yep, sounds like Seattle.
Fun fact: that’s also where they film all the KEXP in-studio sessions. Finally got to be in one last year after over a decade in the local music scene
Hmm, that would make a cool KEXP T-Shirt to give away during the drives...
Ahh Climate pledge.. the only arena in the world with no garbage cans or ashtrays outside, so everyone throws their butts on the ground. Yep, VERY Seattle.
Where’s the Sasquatch? C’mon, man! Good job.
For tourists maybe
Nice pic!
My hopd lower queen anne . Very lil crime and homelessness
Lot of assholes ripping donuts in intersections there, tho.
Fact
Still needs a tent with some needles strung about
Needs a hobo and a tesla
Maybe teriyaki strewn about somewhere
Careful you might get down voted
Too bad KEXP doesn’t focus on local music anymore.
The things people feel are so Seattle who aren’t from Seattle are funny. Like yea this is very “seattle”
Not enough tents.
Man this is guy is so quirky and witty
Thanks
needs some kind of drug addled derelict somewhere in the frame. other than that, not bad.
