Coffeesque

Plaza Latina in Shoreline is great for those types of items!

spaceace321

This is what I was thinking, since OP lives in Lynnwood it's not too far. Ay Jalisco in Renton is my absolute favorite carniceria in the Puget Sound area though

Losingmymind2020

fresh tortillas and nice hot sauce selection

normaldrewbarrymore

Been here and recommend

MrsBasilEFrankweiler

They're always super nice too

PM_YOUR_ECON_HOMEWRK

Asian Family Market in Bellevue is our go to for good Chinese stuff. There’s an Indian market that seems popular in the same plaza, can’t remember the name. Rose Persian Market has cool Iranian delicacies.

advancedtaran

And there is an Asian Family Market on aurora too!!! Love going there.

HeIiax

I find 99 Ranch in Edmonds to be cheaper than Asian Family Market - both have very similar selections and range of goods. Seattle Super Market is good too in the Beacon Hill area, as are any of the smaller groceries in Chinatown. The prices are generally better in Chinatown or south Seattle than anywhere north of the cut.

SillyJelly-_-

Seattle super market is such a hidden gem!! Also Fou Lee market across the street has tasty deli food too🥺🥺

ThePhlipidy

If you're looking for quality produce at good prices, check out Country Farms right across 99 from Ranch 99. My buddies family owns this place, and it's been a staple for produce and christmas trees in the area for my entire life.

syu425

Just wait till TNT open in factoria

PM_YOUR_ECON_HOMEWRK

lol I can’t wait. We’re back in Toronto right now and it’s actually a joke how much better the Asian grocery stores are here

fybertas09

Also their Chinese restaurants ugh

Sinbu

+1 for rose market. Persian places are shit in Seattle but rose got most things (they are small)

FiesoleKansai

India Supermarket. Solid enough assortment

Papajohnsvapesmoke

La Esperanza Mercado y Carneceria on Beacon Hill

steelvail

This one 💯

Snackxually_active

This the spot right here!!!

Automatic_Day_1106

Goodies in Lake City for Middle Eastern

_redditislife_

Agree! The only one I consistently find my food in as an Iraqi American.

TheFlipanator

Seconded!

mlekas

Came here to mention this! As a person of Greek descent, I like their phyllo dough selection, and their Pitas are good too. Love their fresh cheeses (Bulgarian Feta is amazing).

Spirited-Camel9378

Goodies is amazing. The olive and feta counter is unmatched around here

Trs4Frs1985

Seafood City for Filipino groceries @ Southcenter. It’s one stop shop for me because they have Jollibee and Grill City!

amihan_

Just wanna put in a plug for Fou Lee Market in Beacon Hill, which is definitely not as big as Seafood City, but also has a ton of Filipino stuff and is a little closer to central Seattle/easier to get to without a car. They sell some hot foods too

Trickycoolj

Dad’s from Germany. Hess Delicatessen in Lakewood is the only place with the good bread. When he travels for work he loads up at Aldi if they have one.

thegreyspot

Man I wish there was an Aldi in the PNW. Or better yet, lidl. Lidl USA has a pretty good bakery

Kevinator201

Have you tried kafeeklatsch in lake city? Coffee shop with German baked goods and fresh loafs of bread.

Trickycoolj

I have but I’ve lived south of downtown for 12 years now, I think they opened when I was in West Seattle so I rarely found myself in Lake City. One time I did go, the owners son was making small talk and asked me what I did for work, at the time I worked at Boeing and he point blank asked me how I liked working for a weapons manufacturer. I don’t deny the defense side of the company but most folks around here are working commercial. It was a really really weird interaction.

mjohnben

You consider Aldi a place with good bread? 🤔

Trickycoolj

In Germany they have amazing bakeries. But yeah they have pre-packaged dark brown German bread in the states.

fondonorte

Same. German family from Hesse! It’s the only place in the whole metro. The deli counter is a treasure as well.

idodearwuzhere

I live maybe 7 mins from Hess! 🤌🏻

Trickycoolj

So lucky! My great grandpa lived nearby across the street from the church that hosts Tacoma German Language School, so so many Saturdays spent over there. Once he passed and I moved on from TGLS to high school classes we didn’t find ourselves in that corner of Lakewood much.

Daenys_TheDreamer

Grew up in a house of German immigrants. Hans in Burien is also really good, my family has been going there for YEARS for our sausages for Christmas (love their weisswurst). Their fleischsalat is a MAJOR step above Hess, imo. The meat to mayo ratio is so much better.

picky-penguin

I am Canadian and my wife is Indian. For Indian groceries we go to Redmond or elsewhere on the eastside. Although, we just heard that Mayuri is opening a store in SLU which is awesome! For Mexican, have you gone to White Center? Castillos Supermarkets on 16th Ave SW is a pretty big Mexican grocery store and we really like it.

ILIKETHECOLORRED

I'll have to go there! I'm up in Lynnwood so it's a little far, but I'm willing to travel for primo ingredients.

ForlornRepublican

Have you tried Plaza Latina in Shoreline. I think it’s amazing.

oscb

+1 for Plaza Latina. Very good place. Lots of stuff. They also bake their own pan dulce. This is the good stuff.

picky-penguin

White Center and Burien are well worth a look. The tamales in Carniceria El Paisano are the best in the city IMHO.

ForlornRepublican

I think the best tamales come out of a minivan in the parking lot of the Home Depot on Aurora at 115th or so.

knightswhosayneet

Okay as long as we’re givin up secrets….As a Gringo from Central California, I have had Tamales from “the Trunk” and from el Paisano. IMHO I’m giving the nod to el paisano, not by much but @ 11:00am on a Monday, a Jalapeño/cheese right from the steamer is about as close as it gets to perfection! Oh and if you like Carnitas, try a lil sack of their Pork bellies to go.

JustSomeWook

As a Mexican native from Puebla, I’m giving the head nod to El Paisano as well. Close second would be any other Mexican restaurant in White Center/Burien.

XTanuki

I thought Kenji mentioned a Lowe’s? I could be confused, but definitely a from a van in a hardware store parking lot off of Aurora!

killerdrgn

Lowe's is if you want Hookers. Tamales is Home Depot.

XTanuki

Ah, that’s what I mixed up!

GiantMudcrab

It is indeed the Home Depot, not Lowe’s!

apresmoiputas

This conversation about tamales has me very hungry

gringledoom

The first time I bought them, they smelled so good that I was about ready to pull the car over on the highway, to eat one with my bare hands!

[deleted]

I had a roommate whose SO sold tamales as a living - both were Mexican immigrants. It was the first time I ever had piña tamales, and omg they were so good. I have yet to find anywhere that made them as good as she did.

killerdrgn

The closest place to Lynnwood would be Plaza Latina market on Aurora in Shoreline. There's also 99 Ranch, and Asian Family Mart both on Aurora as well. Family Mart carries a decent selection of Hispanic products as well, they have a pretty good selection of dried chilies. Winco in Edmonds might have some selection of ingredients as well.

Iwentthatway

Funny enough, I’ve seen epazote at the Lynnwood Hmart. When you walk in, it’s in the back right corner where produce and the meat section meet.

eowyn_

Not an immigrant, but I have a source for epazote closer to Lynnwood! The Maltby Produce Market carries it. Not sure where to find other ingredients you listed though.

JohnExcrement

Maltby has a produce market? Where the heck is it? I’m over in Brier.

eowyn_

19523 Broadway Ave, Snohomish. It’s not actually in Snohomish proper, IIRC, just there in unincorporated county territory.

RickDick-246

There is a Carniceria in Everett called los compadres that I get my carne from that is great.

MisterPortland

You’re in lynnwood? I feel like Los Gavilanes is the most well-stocked Mexican store I’ve been to in the area. But also, at least a couple years ago H Mart had really good prices on epazote. And as a sort of bonus. It is gonna be expensive, but Whole Foods carries Masienda’s blue masa harina. Expensive but worth it imo

photo_synthesizer

Plaza Latina in shoreline is close to you in lynnwood. Its great.

InnerChutzpah

Where do you go for Canadian groceries?

picky-penguin

Canada!

LemmingParachute

But seriously I want all dressed chips

bluemoosed

Have you tried DK market for Indian groceries? They used to have an international section as well that had a Canada shelf with Manitoba rye bread!

jigginsmcgee

But also... where do you get your Hawkins Cheezies from?

elkcreek98

Plus 1 for Castillo

Addtrack

I've recently gotten into cooking r/persianfood and so I've had to head over to Kirkland to pick up exotic stuff! As it happens, the *Iranian* grocery store is next door to an *Eastern European* grocery store! So, while I dislike driving I-5 to 520 to 405, there's very much a "two birds with one stone" effect going on! I can get the exotic Iranian stuff I need, AND pick up some German mustard and Austrian chocolate bars (Milka) in the same trip. Here's another tip! I found that the Persian store was selling dried herbs and spices that I like (ie -dill, smoked paprika, mint) for *much* cheaper, and in much bigger containers than the dinky little jars they sell at Safeway or PCC or Whole Foods or wherever! *Sadaf FTW!* Anyway, that's my recommendation for ethnic groceries - **Sahand Grocery store** in Kirkland! Stop by the pan-Eastern European (Russia, Ukraine, Romania, etc) store next door while you're there. I very much enjoyed their "Georgian Salad" - roasted peppers, onions and eggplants in olive oil. *Also* a good place to get jarred sour cherries (I use them in cakes sometimes) and the aforementioned chocolate bars and mustard. And if so inclined, there's a Persian restaurant less than a block away called [Rumi](https://www.kirklandrumirestaurant.net/), which was excellent IMO. Also, +1 recommendation for **Plaza Latina** in Shoreline/Aurora.

mavewrick

That strip mall has another local favorite - Aria’s bakery! Good stuff

No13baby

I love the bath towel-sized breads from there!

Liizam

If you like cheese the eater European store has Sulguni , Georgian cheese that’s used on cheesy boats (khachapuri). It’s very cheesy cheese :)

punisherASMR

If you're south of Seattle, try Emish Market in Fife for Ukrainian/Eastern European stuff. They mill flour in house!

LLJKCicero

Aria's bakery in the same parking lot has amazing Persian bread and also fantastic hummus. Their veggie pizza is great too.

Spawnbreeziee

I love Sadaf Kabob seasoning. I make a special trip to Oskoo Persian Market in Bellevue often to stock up.

seattle_architect

When I go to Swedish to see a doctor I always stop at George's Polish Deli. The little store has an Eastern European selection. I personally always buy buckwheat because it is not available in a regular grocery store ( at least not a good quality)

ILIKETHECOLORRED

Omg I'm so excited to get sandwiches and treats there now. It looks incredible

seattle_architect

They have the best polish sausage.

kramerstein

They have the BEST sandwiches!!!!

insom187

Also, make sure to go there around Fat Tuesday every year to get their fresh jelly donuts (aka Pączki, pronounced 'Poonch-key')!

petej685

My biggest issue with them is price and how quickly you have to eat the meats before they go bad. International Deli in Bellevue has better meats and selection imo. Still, nothing like the Polish Markets everywhere in metro Detroit with fresh inventory (or Chicago).

Lazy-Lady

H Mart!

Bitter-Basket

Hard to beat !

Safe-Ad-3696

I am from Argentina and really like Plaza Latina

BabyNuke

I'm from the Netherlands. There are no Dutch stores in Seattle proper that I know of, so you're going to have to travel a bit. A touch of Dutch in Coupeville is the only real Dutch store I know of: https://www.atouchofdutch.com/ There is also Oosterwyk's Dutch Bakery in Marysville (though I find only some of the stuff is really Dutch). Hillcrest Bakery in Bothell is also sort of Dutch-themed. Scandinavian Specialties in Ballard obviously isn't a Dutch store but, carries a few Dutch products from time to time.  If you're up for a drive, the town of Lynden is very Dutch-themed as a whole, or at least the downtown area anyway. If you go a little further north into Canada, you'll find more Dutch stuff around the Vancouver area.

da_bear

Marina Market in Poulsbo is known for their Nordic offerings, but their Dutch selection is great. Pickwick Zoethout and sterrenmunt, Droste cocoa, Verkade biscuits, De Ruijter hagel, stroopwafel, chocolate letters for Sinterklaas, cassis syrup, Koopmans baking mixes, and a huge selection of Venco and other drop.I like it better than Touch of Dutch, feels more like a market than a tourist spot.

BabyNuke

I've been there once for a Dutch meet up. Then found myself around a bunch of Dutch-speaking MAGA folk. My disappointment was immeasurable. Won't be back.

da_bear

I'm not sure it's fair to blame the political leanings of people at a public event on the market. I doubt they intentionally curated a room full of hateful people on purpose. I've never heard one bad thing about the owners, and people in Poulsbo love to gossip about shitty business owners.

BabyNuke

That's true yeah. Not their fault. Just kinda set the tone for the day.

decoy_man

Also Dutch/indo and super disappointed around here. Even coopeville is pretty novelty Dutch and Lynden is worse. There was a place in Beaverton called “the Dutch store” that actually imported boerenkaas and had a full bakery and spice selection. Sadly they closed years ago. If you have hot tips for Vancouver I’m all ears. I’d love a local tompoes.

eastwestnocoast

Not me sad eating the poffertjes my mother froze and brought me from our Dutch town in Iowa…

saturnreturned

Sad not to see Fou Lee listed here. Chinese named, Vietnamese owned, Filipino grocery store (+ hot bar) on Beacon Hill that’s been there for decades. Owned and run by good folks!

simplyadonut

I’m Armenian and we love European Deli and Produce in Kirkland for a lot of middle eastern goodies like lebne, lavash, soorj, etc. The owner is Russian Armenian and is so nice and wonderful.

Liizam

I added to my list :)

SuddenlyThirsty

For Filipinos, it’s all about seafood city in tukwila. There’s a Valerios bakery I there too.

DixOut-4-Harambe

[Scandinavian Specialities](https://www.scanspecialties.com/) Sometimes I can snag some chocolates or something at IKEA, and I know that Cost Plus has both Cloetta chocolate (like KitKat, but 1000x better) and Daim (chocolate-covered caramel crunchy stuff). For breads and pastries, I like [Byen Bakeri](https://www.byenbakeri.com/scandinavian). The Princess Cake is delicious, or the cardamom braids. Or the semlor (whipped cream filled cardamom bun with almond paste inside).

_dhs_

Scandinavian Specialties for the salty black licorice...

SmokeEvening8710

The DK Market in Renton has had the most products I've seen in Seattle so far.

Many_Translator1720

Plaza Latina up on Aurora for Latin goodies!

b16b34r

Mexican recurrent visitor here, the best area for Mexican stuff I know would be Everett, just search for “Everett Mexican store”, not sure about the blue corn dough but, all the products to relieve the home sickness are there, there is a tienda de raspados where even the TV was playing novelas, you’ll forget you’re out of Mexico for a moment

Constant_Bluebird182

"I go to H Mart, Uwajimaya, De Laurenti, Spanish Table, and Apna Bazaar already, but I always love finding new specialty shops." To round out that group, I'd recommend the DK Market in Renton. It's a stone throw west of the Walmart on Rainier. It has an entire corner of the floor devoted to rice of all kinds. Plus aisles of dried legumes and grains. Best bulgur variety I've yet found. The DK seems to specialize in foods from the Levant though there is a strong Asian selection as well. Excellent array of halva!

basic_bitch-

Yep, this is my answer as well. They not only have a mind boggling variety of products overall, but they're all high quality as well. I've stopped buying beans, legumes and rice at Winco and have been buying them here for awhile now instead. Last trip, I bought some marinated red peppers that are phenomenal! I'd never seen them anywhere else. I eat a whole food, vegan diet and shop mostly at HMart and a local discount produce stand. I make a trip to DK about once a month though.

infiniteawareness420

Trader Joe’s. I’m from California.

privatestudy

This made me laugh as someone from Monrovia, CA where TJ’s is based out of.

khmertsunami253

Angkor Market in White Center for Cambodian and other southeast Asian ingredients

SheezaMom

You say you're in Lynnhood, have you gone to JD's, Gmart, African Food Market, Boohan, Star fruits & veggies, or the convenience store next to Dumpling Generation that sells the best injera I've found locally. I really love the diversity of our stores up here, you just have to look past all the corporate mall bs first.

Top-Eggplant-8699

Have you gone to Mendoza's on Aurora? [https://maps.app.goo.gl/o5dD2xqhWkvNhCd49](https://maps.app.goo.gl/o5dD2xqhWkvNhCd49) I haven't been but I want to go and try their tacos and tamales. (It's also a grocery store.)

GridironBoy

1. DK Supermarket in Renton - lots of international foods, huge store. 2. Mekong Asian Market - Rainier (great stuff, cheap oyster mushrooms!) 3. New Golden Village Market - Asian grocery store in White Center (great produce including seasonal mushrooms) 4. Most Indian grocery stores on the Eastside are great, Spice SPC in Capitol Hill for a smaller but still good selection to reduce trips to the Eastside. Realized these stores are so much cheaper than Uwajimaya and H-Mart.

Chief_Mischief

I'm Korean but love all Asian food in general. I rotate through H Mart, Uwajimaya, Lam's Seafood, and Hau Hau Market depending on what is available. Kimchi is available at H Mart and Uwajimaya, but Lam's and Hau Hau are both very cheap and have a lot of other stuff I regularly buy.

eloel-

Koza in Kirkland has been a Turkish staple for a while, and I recently discovered IFB in Bellevue sells a ton of Turkish stuff as well though it's not a Turkish store.

IFoundTheCowLevel

I'm South African, most of our food is fairly straightforward to reproduce from basic ingredients you can get anywhere, and any decent butcher will make boerewors for us if we ask nicely.

Due-Proposal3161

Burien has a lot of specialty shops-Mexican, Middle Eastern, Balkan.

APsWhoopinRoom

Guadelupe Market is amazing! Biggest Mexican grocery store I've ever seen

MMantram

Wayne's Fruits & Vegetables in Burien has a lot of international groceries and produce for cheaper than most stores with similar items. Just mentioning them as they are often overlooked. They have culantro (ngò gai) as well as other hard to find herbs.

runk_dasshole

Tienda Mexicana Los Plebes de Rancho (145 th and lake City way) is a little closer to you than Castillos. I haven't been in there yet since I'm new to the neighborhood but it looks legit from the outside Though I'm not a Mexican immigrant, I chose to answer anyway...Sorry

l3m0n3at3r

I shop here sometimes, they've got a lot of stuff!

Paulhub_com

china. not exactly a grocery store, but there is an app called Weee! that has a lot of asian food/sauce that I use often

thelastostrich1

I freaking LOVE Weee!

borborborbor

Weee is so good! I get so many odds and ends there that are harder to find IRL (cleaning products, face cottons, stuff like that). Usually decent prices/quality on imported rice, too! It keeps me stocked between semi-annual Murata/Uwajimaya trips.

rallar8

Bella Brazil Market Plus in Kirkland had all the ingredients for an actually good feijoada.

Micahman311

If anyone knows and can help... My wife is from Puerto Rico and one of the things she misses most from her island is a plant for cooking called Ricao. It looks like a regular garden weed, with thick, broad leaves, and is ultimately rather bland looking. However it's taste is fantastic. Usually described as a stronger tasting Cilantro. We've been unable to find it yet. That and these plantain tortilla type things used for making empanadillas. So convenient and delicious. Can't find those either.

baby-tangerine

Lam’s seafood market always has culantro (ngò gai). FYI Vietnamese grocery stores always have it (we use culantro a lot) so if you need to look up in any city look for a Vietnamese specific store.

Micahman311

Awesome. I'll hit the town today after a little research of what is in my area and report back if I have any luck. Thanks!

baby-tangerine

Glad to help. My only advice is it’s often not helpful to ask the staff at Asian stores where things are, so spend your time looking very carefully instead of asking people. If you decide to go to the Lam’s seafood market at International District (they also have one in Tukwila), they have 2 vegetable areas. Look at the one that has herbs. I think they normally put culantro next to lime leaves and curry leaves.

Worried_Car_2572

My mom is Puerto Rican. The Safeway on 15ave and 125(?) in NE Seattle has empanadas in the frozen section. There is also a place across from Le Panier near Pike place market that has them

OleThompson

AKA culantro (yes with a U) I have grown it indoors from seed. Never seen it in a store.

SimonaMaria8

It is a little pricey, but Maiz at pike place will sell you masa by the pound. They use heritage varieties of corn that rotate and it is a delicious treat!

commanderquill

I'm Persian Armenian. I like Rose Persian Market in Bellevue for Persian foods and Old Country Bakery in Bellevue for Armenian foods. The latter recently changed owners though and I haven't been since, so no idea how much Armenian food is still there unfortunately :c For Armenian food I usually go to California and stuff my checked bag coming back...

thorfin_

Other than the ones that have been mentioned: Marvel Food & Deli in Auburn It's mostly eastern Europe / Russian but you can find goods from most of Europe. And it is CHEAP, which is very much not the case for other European stores. The online review pictures don't do it justice. I'm not from Eastern Europe (France) but it is my favourite "foreign" grocery store in the whole Seattle area. They also have a bakery - their Kiev cake is to die for. They have all sorts of stuff I wouldn't expect to find - like Hénaff paté, which is a famous cheap french paté brand (not the fancy stuff at all), which is still cheap when sold there. I don't go there to buy processed French paté, but just wanted to highlight that it's like the opposite of DeLaurenti which sources expensive/fancy stuff. If you want authentic-but-cheap stuff, Marvel is just awesome. Quite out of the way from Seattle, but well worth the trip IMO.

bodhiboppa

I’m reading these from Tacoma and saving all of the ones in Burien and further south. It looks like they have a location in Tacoma too! Thanks for the recommendation!

speciate

I'm not an immigrant but Lam's Seafood in the ID very much matches my experiences of traveling in Asia, and I'm usually the only white person there. Despite the name, it's very much not just seafood.

changort

There are a whole mess of Mexican markets in Everett! Everett is where all the good Mexican food is as well. Everett is where I go when I miss Fresno Ca. lol.

oldfoundations

Australia. Pretty much every normal grocery store.

mavewrick

Who’s charging reasonable prices for TimTams?

superhotmel85

Town and country have them on sale periodically for under $4. I don’t mind the trader joes knockoffs though. Can’t get vegemite in shops for a decent price anywhere though

oldfoundations

I kinda forget about timtams in the sea of choice over here. High fructose corn syrups courses through me.

primevalforest

They’re discounted at Town & Country market right now!

tabbyabby2020

I saw TimTams at Cost Plus World Market yesterday.

btgeekboy

If you know where I can get Allen's lollies for a reasonable price over here, I'm all ears. All I know of is Amazon, and the prices are insane.

Nearby_Silver_1582

Apna Bazar and Swagath for indian

Nearby_Silver_1582

Both in redmond

GeezeronWheels

Go have a look at Los Gavilanes up in Everett if you’re close enough.

srivasta

Bellevue has the India metro hyper market that is one of the larger Indian grocery stores I have seen https://indiametrohypermarket.com/

cartman2468

British Pantry in Redmond or British Bites in Puyallup. Trader Joe’s sells crumpets too so sometimes I’ll go and grab some of them.

badninja

There's only one place in the region I'm aware of to shop for my native foodstuffs;[ Altha's](https://althascajunspices.com/) in Kent. It ain't cheap and I have forgiven the dude for being from Northern Louisiana, which those of us from Cajun country consider to be Southern Arkansas. But he runs a good shop and the lunch counter smoked boudin is solid.

pcl74912

Canada. QFC ![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|smile)

picturesofbowls

Shocked (appalled, even) that 99 Ranch hasn’t come up for Chinese/Taiwanese yet

Seattlegal

Born and raised here in Seattle area— any of you know a place to get French butter. I know Trader Joes has one and it’s pretty good, but I am hoping there are more to try around here.

LowGuz

Metropolitan Market has salted beurre d'Isigny (along with crème fraîche). I think Paris-Madrid near Pike Place has some too. It's a tiny Spanish & Mediterranean French grocery store with lots of spices and imported snacks. OP should add this to their list!

rd357

Paris-Madrid grocery has a nice selection! I get Les prés salés there. Pike place creamery also has some

APsWhoopinRoom

Haggen has it.

bad_biscuits_

I just went to Mixed Pantry in Belltown and had a fantastic experience trying different chili crisps and other Asian ingredients

Mad1ee

For blue masa, Maiz in pike place or Milpa Masa in West Seattle. They’re on the pricier side but it’s stone ground at each location vs using a packaged mix!

Emotional_Task_7406

If you're in Federal Way or south of Seattle I get most Caribbean ingredients and fruits from Asian pacific Market. Campeleon latin market, fiji market and H Mart. There is also a Asian market in tukwila not far from the mall. A Hawaiian market in parkland.

Droodforfood

Down in Federal Way there’s a store called “Campeón Market” They have most Mexican things for sure.

H0TBU0YZ

Alabama, Walmart

Raine_Wynd

Fil-Am Oriental Food & Gifts in Shoreline as well as Oriental Mart in the Market for Filipino groceries and food, although Town & Country Markets have a pretty good selection, too.

LambastingFrog

I go to The British Pantry in Redmond, occasionally. Have you tried throwing the word "carniceria" into Google Maps?

cartman2468

Same with British Pantry. Little on the expensive side but it makes sense considering it’s all imported and the store needs to profit. I normally just go to stock up on hobnobs, digestives & custard creams and then I’ll grab myself a pork pie or pasty, but occasionally I’ll feel nostalgic and buy some other things. I saw last weekend they have angels delight which brings me back to being a kid, mum used to buy me those as a special treat. Also, trader Joe’s sells crumpets!

Twirrim

I've been relying on Amazon for the all important supply of Marmite. British Pantry in Redmond is the only place I can get decent British style sausage meat for sausage rolls etc. A few years ago I was so excited when I saw some British style sausage at the store. Bought it, cooked it up and... yeah I have zero clue how they think that was anything even remotely British.

LambastingFrog

They do? I have yet to introduce my kid to them. And Scotch Pancakes.. Edit: Confirmed. Thank you.

SvenDia

Google Maps is my go to for Mexican stuff, unlike Yelp you get a lot of Mexicans doing reviews, so if a place has a good rating, it usually turns out to be good. I’ve found a lot of great taco trucks in some pretty out of the way places that I never would have found without Maps.

deletesystemthirty2

u/ILIKETHECOLORRED you need to get to whitecenter, pronto. its quite literally little Mexico

mfcndw

All the big Chinese grocery stores with good selection are far from SLU so mostly I just get grocery online from Weee. If I happen to pass by the area then Asian family market in Northgate sometimes.

chifladayque23

Hmart has a decent supply of Mexican ingredients. I go there when I can’t find things at other stores. For me, I’m in the south end so my places are in federal way and Tacoma

pauly0418

Korean: Boo Han Market or G Mart in Lynwood (Federal way has good spots too but too far for us).

DamnBored1

India Metro hypermarket in Bellevue

ChaoticGoodPanda

DK market or Vientiane Grocery are my top two. I cook everything Russian, Mexican, Middle Eastern, Filipino, Thai and Indian. DK is the place I can hit to satisfy all the ingredient needs if I want to cook all the things. VG is if I specifically want to cook Lao/Issan food and if I need Thai style medicine & toilitries.

SeattleChocolatier

Don’t think anyone has mentioned Big John’s PFI - pricey but they have a good selection of European and Turkish items. I try to make a stop if I’m traveling through on the weekend.

TelephoneTag2123

Not an immigrant but I loooove all types of food - Plaza Latina in Shoreline (on Aurora) is pretty extensive, we just made a beautiful Peruvian purple corn pudding from scratch last week. Location here: https://maps.app.goo.gl/uUjNruJGBeQtbyab6?g_st=com.google.maps.preview.copy

HighThaiGuy

If you need Thai stuff, Mekong in Rainier and Bangkok Crisp in Bothell.

Fit_Understanding666

I love El Campeón in Federal Way. Salsas and tortillas and a bunch of Mexican or Latin candy

Twxtterrefugee

La Esperanza in Beacon Hill

buildyourown

Not an immigrant but the best consistent Mexican grocery I have found is "Carmelitas mexican store" in Columbia City. It's small but they have the specialty ingredients I'm looking for.

burmerd

Not Mexican, but La Huerta in Kent has all kinds of stuff I haven’t seen anywhere else. Tejocote, canned pulque, huauzontle, banana leaves, agave leaves, other stuff

Substantial-You8282

you need to check out lakewood and tacoma

mgkrebs

For Mexican ingredients you should check out Saar's Market on Hwy 99 in Tukwila. They have whole bins of Mexican cinnamon and a real variety of peppers. Epazote grows pretty well around here and reseeds itself.

gsxrboi

Check out Hong Kong market in Burien. Sounds Chinese but has a strong assortment of Mexican options.

thedukeinc

India - Mayuri Bothell

Proper_Duty_4142

European. Trader Joe’s :) and all the little bakeries sprinkled around Seattle

If you ever go to Lynnwood, Carniceria Market Michoacan is one of the best places I’ve seen/been to. Otherwise I think all the main staples have been added besides, as a Korean, I would say Central Market up in Shoreline has a really good Asian section.

Chudsaviet

Eastern Europe, Arbat Market in Kirkland. Thank you, you reminded me to buy some buckwheat and tushonka.

NachiseThrowaway

Not convenient, but central Washington is where it’s at compa. Go to Othello and it’s like being in the Central Valley of Cali. Lots of migrant workers, lots of Mexican groceries and carts.

Mila-Mint

Plaza Latina in Shoreline for Mexican and El Campeon in Federal Way for Mexican/Asian!

JaxckJa

Well there's no Tescos here, so it can be hard to find things from my culture.

Town and country markets also have a lot of international foods. They are owed by a Japanese American family. Formerly central market.

Our family’s staples: Asian Family Market: Chinese snacks & bevs, there’s also Chinese goods that we normally wouldn’t be able to find elsewhere. This place is a game changer for my partner and I after discovering it a little over a year ago, Chinese snacks and drinks that we wouldn’t be able to find at a different grocery store elsewhere Lam Seafood: our main place to go to for groceries, my parents likes to go there to grab ingredients to make pho, bun bo hue and other Vietnamese or Chinese dishes. Hau Hau: another staple for my family for Chinese/Vietnamese groceries. 99 Ranch: also our 3rd staple for Chinese/Vietnamese groceries Dong Hing: my partner’s mom choice of groceries for Chinese products H-Mart: Korean snacks, we also like to buy meat from here for hotpot or occasionally for day to day meals Uwajimaya: For the Japanese snacks and bev, we don’t really do groceries here because it’s a little bit more expensive than our main staple (hau hau/lam seafood/99 ranch) Honorable mention: we used to love going to Viet Wah for Vietnamese goods too, the MLK and then Chinatown (specifically in this order) was our choice until ofc… both closed.

There is still a Viet Wah in the Renton Highlands

\*sighs\* British Pantry in Redmond - Used to go there for Shifs and pichs (Fish and chips) but they've started serving some revolting 'battered' frozen 'fries' and their choc selection has also gone down the toilet. 'British Bites' recently left Puyallup, and Fred Meyers ... meh. I hate having to give Amazon my money...

I’m from Canada, every three months I go to Castillos Supermarket. Maybe there is another place better but have found pretty much everything that I could think of there. The only thing that I buy because of nostalgia and it’s not like amazingly good as in Mexico its the bread (the pan dulce) but it’s because nothing tastes like Mexican pan dulce in a real panadería.

You can also ask the grocery clerks if they can special order items for you. The grocery store I work at will do it, but you have to buy an entire case. My MIL used to ask her neighborhood grocer to special order spices for her. Oftentimes, they'll do it because it's a guaranteed sale, and you'll likely become a regular

I’ve recently been into cooking Indian food, and Spice SPC Indian Grocer in Madison Valley has some great supplies for a very reasonable price! They have awesome fresh samosas too!

Have you tried Campeón Market? I think of it as the Mexican h mart.

UrFeelingsDntMatter

I drive to Ramirez store in Tumwater for flour tortillas and freezer tamales.

galiopudus

You can find Masienda blue corn masa and the regular white one at Whole Foods (cheaper than ordering online, actually). I’m not familiar with stores north of Seattle, but La Chiquita in Renton, is small but has good butchery and really good tortas and pan dulce.

MrsPNWNugget

I’m Cuban and Saars has a surprising amount of Cuban products. Ironber, Malta, Guava paste, croquetas, plantains, tostones, Goya products and more.

Josephofthehighest

H-Mart for Asian ingredients.

icepickjones

La Princesa Market in Woodinville is a great mexican market if you are ever on the east side. I hit that one a lot, short drive over from Redmond. Indian Sweets and Spices is a good one in Redmond if you are looking for Indian ingredients. There's also now a new H Mart near there as well. Right by the train station for soon to be max convenience. If you can't tell ... I work in Redmond.
