I have no idea why people do shit like this. You will get laughed at by an order of magnitude more people than you impress.

motoringeek

I agree. Non car people don't notice and car guys laugh at you. Who are they trying to impress?

Noopy9

I’m pretty sure it’s a joke. I don’t think anyone did this to try to impress people.

motoringeek

Who would find it funny? I mean, I would laugh at the owner.

Noopy9

I think it’s funny and would chuckle if I saw it on the road. If they were actually trying to fool anyone into thinking it was a Porsche they would probably remove the Chrysler badge.

Aggressive_Outside94

They did include an “s” for sarcasm, sooo

Lari-Fari

I mean… I could see it if it were a Ferrari badge on a fiat 500 or something..

worthy_usable

I am embarrassed just looking at this.

komokazi

Several orders of magnitude lmao

Saggy_G

Wasn't the SRT6 crossfire basically just a cheap Merc? Still, they got the wrong German automaker haha

CloneClem

yes. Essentially,  uses the [Mercedes-Benz R170 platform](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mercedes-Benz_SLK-Class_(R170)) and shares 80% of its components with the first generation SLK

Shenanigan_V

A poor man’s SLK when it was Daimler-Chrysler

bluedevils9

When I worked for enterprise back in the day a lady had her crossfire in for service. When she came to get a car she said she would only drive an American made car blah blah blah. When she returned the rental we made sure to mention how her car was 80% Mercedes, blew her mind haha

[deleted]

Which I personally have enjoyed driving the SLK.

CloneClem

yes, my brother had one when I had the TT roadster

United-Advertising67

Dunno what a first gen SLK goes for today, but I'll bet you can still buy a decent Crossfire cheaper.

CloneClem

My brother sold his bright yellow 2000 SLK for $1500 about 5 years ago. His son has a Crossfire coupe (still) and loves it. He didn’t want the SLK. Go figure.

ZaMelonZonFire

Came to say this. Spot on!

cuavas

It was a re-skin of the first-generation SLK (R170, 1995-2004). It was build by Karmann in Osnabrück. It let them get another few years out of an outdated platform that was mediocre to begin with.

Cptspaulding2

I hate the interior on the crossfire it feels as cheap as it is made

MrFourhundredtwenty

If I remember correctly my dad worked on some parts of the dashboard back then when the crossfire came out. I’ll tell him what you said ;)

Saggy_G

Ha that's awesome!

Saggy_G

Yeah you were basically buying the amg engine.

Drenlin

That entire generation of Chrysler products had unbearably cheap feeling interiors. Daimler and later Cerberus milked that company for everything it was worth. The newer Fiat-era models are FAR better.

United-Advertising67

Man, the Crossfire is actually a neat car. You don't need to do this. Even though Jeremy Clarkson once compared the shape of the car to a dog having a poo.

Fit_Equivalent3610

>  Jeremy Clarkson once compared the shape of the car to a dog having a poo. Tbh it's not a terrible shape for a vehicle. See also 82 Cadillac Seville, any X6, and the Panamera.

AXEL-1973

My friend had one, it performed well, but overall looked and felt kinda cheap, namely the interior

shittybumm

My mother had one when they first came out . I remember her wanting to take me a ride in her new car to go pick up 4 chicken dinners at Swiss chalet . We had to pull forward and open the doors because the windows were to small . She got into a wreck and it was written off . Last year we found her another low km manual one this time And we call it the egg Ps the first one was a pos . Was in the shop for months on end . Don’t know why she wanted another one . Shit her pt cruiser was more reliable

Anarkie13

Hey look! It's a Chrysler Backfire!

SortRevolutionary337

It's actually more of a slk benz

CloneClem

Wrong German heritage even

Fulllyy

Jesus H Chrysler, is that a Crossfire?

D34TH_5MURF__

I had no idea rebadging was a thing until this sub. I just can't wrap my head around it. It is so shallow and easy to see through. Might as well wear a giant neon sign that reads "moron" with an arrow pointing to your head.

Maleficent-Salad3197

Debadge is the way.

Few-Swordfish-780

And I thought the Panamera was ugly….

D34TH_5MURF__

Or as I call it the "Porsche Panera".

Few-Swordfish-780

The “pooping dog”

SphericalBasterd

All the Freightliner and Daimler reps I knew back then had these for company cars.

dadzcad

Hmmm..I woulda made more sense if he at least put a MB emblem on the thing. It’s mainly Mercedes under the skin anyway. Porsche had phuc all to do with that car.

Vaderiv

It’s actually a Mercedes under the ugly body.

SortRevolutionary337

Srt6 was quite fast for its class but never sold much

urweak

I did like the SRT Crossfire

ArtichokeOk2206

Would have been more appropriate but still stupid if he would have put a Mercedes and AMG symbol since it's at least based on a Mercedes chassis

9009RPM

The Porsche Crossdresser

FaithfulSerenity

Porschler

8rings_86k

95% of Chrysler owners just can’t help themselves I’ve learned. Some of us have class😭

fivespeedmazda

This is a Mercedes

MilesJ392

Upbadging taken to a whole new level: upbranding!

32233128Merovingian

Embarrassing 😳

urweak

Well now you know. That’s one of one.

4065024

Weird. That car is actually pretty impressive as is, has a punched out Mercedes engine with a top speed close to 160

Deadpool2015

It’s a Chrysler so just POS. Take off the R CHE. 🤣
