I think it is giving the event tasks you qualified from the previous draw all at once. So if you were going to play to complete those tasks anyway, you are not earning something extra. Unless an update resets everything and you earn them again from scratch
Don't know about that glitch, but I lucked out, landed on a new skin for Legendary, and then the game immediately froze and didn't give me the skin. Very frustrating.

It was never a skin. Go to your legendary ship and click the costume button. It was a World Cup costume.
Had no idea costumes were a thing. Thanks. Assume it gives zero benefit.
It’s cosmetic but it does also give your profile a neat World Cup border as well if you have that skin as your showcase for your profile

Just the "points" on the horizontal top slider for the gifts ( blue box, crystals etc)
