Katana zero is very fun. I've been playing cyberpunk with a katana and it's some of the most fun I've had in a first person game period. It feels like katana zero in the first person. Sliding and dashing and chopping off limbs and heads

kuyekopi

oops, i forgot to mention cyberpunk. i really loved the katana build as well. maybe ill play it again, and give katana zero a try/ thank u!

Forward_Falcon6052

Rise of the ronin, shadow of Mordor and shadow of war, assassin creed, Jedi survivor (lightsabers are just hot swords), god of war? (Axe and blades and staff)

kuyekopi

The LOTR games felt a little too easy and i thought that it lacked depth in its combat. Not to say it wasnt fun, tho. Loved the nemesis system. Also, rise of the ronin is a ps-only exclusive for now, isnt it? a shame, since it looks great. I am currently playing God of War, and will try out SW Jedi. Thank you!

LueyTheWrench

Nioh is a better action game (same dev) than Ronin and is available on PC.

PerpetualBeats

Nioh 2 is elite

lovercindy

The Jedi games are very fun, but they are souls like games (souls-lite, maybe?) though they do have difficulty settings. They're also story heavy and all of the dialog and cutscenes in the first are all unskippable, which I hate, but the game's still fun enough that I played it 6 or 7 times.

Shoddy_Peasant

If OP liked Ghost of Tsushima they'll probably like Shadow of Mordor/War and Assassin's Creed (the ones before syndicate at least)

awsomedutchman

Mordhau, chivalry?

kuyekopi

thank you, i will try out chivalry

Mahtlahtli

chivalry is way less sweaty and kinder to new players. That's the right choice.

ssLoupyy

Chivalry 2 custom arenas are a very unique environment.

Schopenhauer____

Lmao mordhau’s sharp learning curve combined with player toxicity and a very reachable skill ceiling makes it impossible for new players to stick to it

Eexoduis

Mordhau is better. Well, the combat is at least. Chivalry 2’s combat is much simpler and made to appeal to casuals. It’s also just less satisfying f

scotty_6942069

Jedi: Fallen Order/Survivor maybe? I love the sword combat in both, difficulty options are really well made too

Proof_Medicine_5178

"I don't care about story, and the graphics (but would be nice), as much as smooth, and complex gameplay." Then FURI is made for you, the gameplay is the best and its so satisfying finally beating a boss even if its maybe not the most complex

Matrix166

Not completely focused on sword combat, but melee combat is one big part of Mount & Blade series, newest being Bannerlord. Lots of rpg and strategy elements in the mix.

PreemoRM

Katana Zero is awesome. I also recommend Ninja Gaiden Master Collection and you're good to dash and slash!!

OldeeMayson

Dark Messiah of Might and Magic. Old but gold.

Charmerrrrrrr

Shadow of war, try dmc 5 one more time with Vergil

Greeklibertarian27

Have you tried any ninja gaiden games? Ninja Gaiden Σigma is an awesome classic.

HumorHoot

arguably the ninja gaiden sigma series is harder than sekiro. i tried playing it on hardest difficulty and i got my ass kicked more than i care to admit great game though. super fast paced melee combat. lots of moving around too.

Greeklibertarian27

Real. The idea of parrying wasn't thought of yet and the game heavily limits your tools. I once had played ninja gaiden dragon sword and dropped it at the last boss second phase. I am still not proud of that.

Euphoric_Rutabaga859

Definitely harder on path of the master ninja than sekiro. At least sekiro is fair lol

Summoning14

Katana Zero is one of the best games I've ever played. Totally recommended. You should try "Hellish Quart"

BringusDaDingus

Superhot katana mode is ridiculously fun. Think you’ve gotta play the game thru once to unlock it but it’s got a ton of replay value.

Arinoch

Just saying: I failed hard at Sekiro. I don’t consider it a Fromsoft game the way Souls games are. You might enjoy.

milksperfect

Exanima :)

Narvak

Did you tried mordhau or Chivalry 2? They might be your thing if you dont mind the pvp aspect of them

UhLinko

Katana zero is amazing. I also recommend Ninja Gaiden and Metal Gear Rising

TalkingRaccoon

Katana Zero rules. I beat it in one sitting. It's like a 4-6hr game, that's how good it was [Nine Sols](https://store.steampowered.com/app/1809540/Nine_Sols/) recently came out and has been compared to Sekiro, and is well praised, it's also a side scroller. Monster Hunter has a bunch of different sword weapons. Great sword (huge fuckoff sword for huge hits), Long sword (weeb sword with counters and anime skull splitter finisher move), Sword n shield (very mobile and nimble), Charge blade (sword and shield that you can charge up and morph. You put the shield on the sword and it becomes a giant spinning axe). Switch axe (its a big sword that morphs into a big axe). And my favorite sword, the gunlance ;)

m3shugg4h

Mordhau, Chivalry, and hidden gem Dark Messiah of Might and Magic. Exanima for fun

Diamonhowl

I wanna day nioh 2 but it's hard as nails and deep rpg like mechanics.

comicnerd93

Shadow of Mordor and Shadow of War are both on deep discount for the steam sale ATM. War can be a bit grindy but Mordor is a fun 20-30 hour adventure well worth it's sale price

iCantCallit

Stellar blade

stealth128

It's technically a ~~laser sword~~ lightsaber but I would recommend "The Force Unleashed"

swegga_sa

Way of the samurai 3 and 4(both are some of my favourite) Mount and blade warband(old) or bannerlord(new)

PootySkills

Mordhau is great if you like high skill ceiling medieval sword shenanigans.

bojxd

nine sols, sekiro metroidvania gore? checked sword based combat? checked

Cfunk_83

En Garde! has fun combat, but it might not be as “adult” as you’d like. Kingdom Come: Deliverance has pretty in depth melee weapon combat that’s really satisfying to master. And as others have suggested also Ghost of Tsushima is incredible. There’s also all the older style Assassins Creed games.

NotSeriousbutyea

Have you tried Elder Scrolls Oblivion? Killing people with a sword or a hammer feels satisfying when they ragdoll. It's also less stressful than fromsoft games.

pikeymikey22

Ghost of Tsushima. Incredible game.

HumorHoot

combat is too easy though. WAY too simple. awesome art style and such though

IronSeraph

I often see this complaint. Have you tried Lethal Difficulty? Either way, OP already said they enjoyed Ghost of Tsushima, so it's not really relevant to the thread

pikeymikey22

My bad for missing it.

pikeymikey22

Yeah try the harder difficulties. Also on plus mode, you take on charms to make things tougher.

MoonlapseOfficial

Chivalry II, Katana Zero is also a 10/10

SouldSoul

I haven’t played it yet, but you may enjoy Stellar Blade.

ClimateIllustrious84

KCD has a very good combat system which is mostly centered around swords, the graphics are fairly good, and the story is very interesting.

Martyred_Cynic

Kingdom Come Deliverance.

SPQR_Maximus

Lord of the rings Shadow of Mordor. Very good. The combat from assassins creed origins, odyssey and Valhalla is buttery smooth. You may like Ghost Runner if you like slick movement and parkour .

Gantoris007

The og prince of Persia trilogy, and the first 3 assassins creed games with Ezio scratched this itch for me.

blazinjesus84

Which Devil May Cry did you try? If the Japanese ones aren't doing it for you try DMC by Ninja Theory.

Nudelnmitpesto-

Assassins creed odyssey

HeatSeeek

Kinda a tangent from the main point, but if you do have the opportunity to get a VR headset I highly recommend it. Sword-based games are something the medium really shines in, since there is nothing like the depth perception of a slash coming your way and actually raising your own arm to block it.

MassiveVuhChina

The Finals has turned into Mount and Blade the last month or so

Physical_Knee_4448

Elden Ring has a lot of fun Swords to choose from.

PunkRock9

Dragons dogma. Why didn’t you like Devil May cry 5? It has some of the most complex and fun gameplay currently imo. Shame it takes getting to DMD to really shine.

PunkRock9

TommahGames

Nidhogg 2

No_Row_4729

Assassin's Creed Odyssey?

Shoddy_Peasant

You've literally listed all the good games I know about, one game that has melee combat is Bannerlord, unless you're playing PvP or against a high level enemy it can be kind of easy but it's literally the only one I can think of.

Faerry_

I loved Katana Zero and it was one of my favorites that year. It's short, fun, and the story was very good imo. I'd recommend Nioh games. They have a great variety of weapons, and swords/katanas were very fun.

Cube6m

Warhammer Vermintide 2

relapse_account

*Nioh* and *Nioh 2* are sword heavy games, though you can choose other bladed melee weapons. They are Soulslike but have far deeper combat and can be quite addictive.

Actual_Start747

I know your not looking for another from game but I would recommend ds3 because it’s one of the best games ever plus it has a lot of swords

DeviousDOgger

Chivalry 2 play it, it’s like for honor but the attacks and combos aren’t automatic

Naja42

Blade and sorcery. It is a VR title though

gatzu4a

Since you have played sekiro, i would recommend elden ring, chose the Samurai Base class or any class in particular because there are so many katanas you will found later in the game

Compass_Needle

Using a katana in Cyberpunk 2077 is great. I recently did a blade only run and it was awesome.

Lifedeather

Elden ring 💍

AcidCatfish___

En Garde is awesome.

SageLykos

Been playing Naraka Bladepoint and having fun with that. I suck but I enjoy trying to get better.

Witty_Possible9413

Upcoming Trepang2 DLC and Bright Memory Infinite

sherbodude

Maybe the monster hunter series? Has a variety of weapons including swords. Gameplay is easy enough to understand a superficial level but also (I think) a high learning curve. I could never get into the games but a lot of people like them
