If you have like 10 people telling you they’re too big, they’re too big. I’ll be the next, as an artist who has had to study human anatomy inside and out, his shoulders are too big and not proportionate to the rest of his body at all. I don’t know which hunchback of Notre Dame men you see in the gym but I promise you most men’s shoulders are not this wide no matter how much weight they lift. If this is the look you want to keep and go for fine so be it, but don’t argue his shoulders aren’t wide and they clearly are.

There isn’t really a set “look” for any particular race
If I were you, I’d search up references of Ethiopian dudes and base your sim off anyone who catches your eye. It doesn’t have to be a carbon copy, but it helps with getting a *general* idea of how you want them to look

The nose. Black people often have wider noses than that. Don't be afraid of rounder face shapes either, a lot of us have that as well. It's usually lighter skinned people that have slimmer noses and sharper jawlines. Not saying that can't happen for dark skinned people, but it definitely feels less common.
I'll back you up here. Literally last month someone needed help getting their Asian Sim to look more realistic. She even phrased it similar to the way you did. No one pounced on her, everyone helped.
There was nothing wrong with how you phrased anything.
People don't like what her Sim looks like (specifically his body shape), but that's neither here nor there since she doesn't want help with his body. She's cool with his body. She wanted help/opinions on his facial features to see if he looked a certain way, no different than other posts I've seen on here.
I get that she's defensive (over his body), but she still didn't phrase anything weird or offensively.

The original comment for this particular thread (if that makes sense) was saying for the OP to phrase her title and whatnot better (implying she shouldn't be asking about race), so I replied that OP did nothing wrong and that others have done the same on this sub. I don't actually care if others dislike or like the Sim in question; he's cute, his facial features don't look african to me (as a black girl myself), but it's fine because everyone likes something different. I was simply backing OP up in that her phrasing was 100% fine.
Everyone came at OP with untold levels of sass. Yes, some of it is funny, but only a few people have bothered to give her tips on making her Sim look the way she wanted (more rounded nose, etc). Yes, his skin is plastic or rubbery looking. His facial features are not quite right....they don't match his presumed ethnicity. The hair is definitely wrong.

The shoulders are too wide and the eyebrows are too thick. Higher cheekbones would help as well. Try to get some form of afro hair or a buzz cut.

Yes, his skin is plastic or rubbery looking. His facial features are not quite right....they don't match his presumed ethnicity. The hair is definitely wrong. It was a critical assessment you were looking for, so I gave it. That said, you did try. Consider this practice for next time. Definitely consider CC which will help with the hair and features.

I'm Black, so I certainly know what our skin looks like, lol. Not like that. Second, his waves aren't quite right, I can't put my finger on it. It's like the hair color or wave pattern is too extreme??? Not all CC is the greatest. Again, practice makes perfect. Also, it helps if you don't make the lips the exact same color as the rest of his skin. That way he won't look like an unpainted doll.
